CHAPTER ONE – KNIGHT IN BLOODY ARMOUR

DOWNTOWN CAIRO, EGYPT

Khalid observed the entourage from a rooftop. One sports car, Six SUVs and a bullion van at the end, all black. They stopped at a building opposite the one on which he stood. Two men on black suits and black shades stepped out of each vehicle on either side and stood with one hand in their coat’s inner pocket. A pink-haired young man stepped out of the sports car. He looked around and walked casually into the building, patting the security personnel on their heads as he entered. One from each pair of the men followed him in.

“Update” Khalid spoke into his comms after some minutes.

“Room 456” a female voice replied via the comms.

“Ironic” Khalid replied and pulled up his face mask over his nose and mouth. He adjusted his hood and swords and walked to the edge of the rooftop. He took one last look at the building across and leaped. Halfway between his initial position and his next one, he flung a metallic device out of his hand. It stuck to a wall beside a window and pulled him to it. After securing footing, he detached himself from the device and stepped into the hallway through the window. He immediately pressed a button on his right sleeve, disabling all cyber-related devices on the floor. He heard some voices and footsteps approaching, obviously to check the issue. “Ironic” he muttered and unsheathed his twin swords from his back. He spun them and flipped them interchangeably in excitement as he advanced in the direction of the voices. He met them at the head of a flight of stairs. They reached for their guns but the hands meant to pull out the weapons instead fell off with the weapons. Blood splashed on the stairs and the walls. The men screamed in pain as they both fell to the ground, using their available hand to clutch the sliced region. He simply walked past them, impaling them from behind. He leaped over the rail and landed on two other guards who were rushing up with cocked guns. With quick reflex, he delivered a divorcing slash to their throats, leaving them to choke to death on their own blood.

“Already killing the unconcerned?” the female asked from the comms.

“Any potential disturbance is definitely concerned” he replied and drove one of his swords through the left ear of an incoming guard to his right and used cut down his partner with the other sword. “He didn’t hear that one” he joked. Turning left, he was met with a squad of security personnel, all armed. “Did you say unconcerned?” he said to his comms and leaped onto the wall. He ran on it, deflecting anticipated bullets and leaped off it, landing in their midst. He swung, spun, thrust and whipped his sword in all directions, decorating the orange themed hallway with splashes of red amidst a choral of involuntary cries. Organs flew about in the room. More guards rushed in, firing shots at Khalid’s direction, hitting their teammates nonetheless but none touched Khalid as he was either behind, beside or beneath a consequent lifeless body or faster than their trigger finger. He leaped into the air and spread out his arms. The standing guards landed with him, only they had daggers either in their necks, hearts or foreheads. He took one last look at the dead lot, put his swords back and walked out of the entrance the second wave came in through.

He walked towards a door marked ‘456’ with two well-built armed men in front of it.

“Stop right there” one of them hollered at him. “The costume party’s upstairs” he added. Khalid kept on advancing towards them. He unsheathed his swords and swung them at the man before he could reach his guns, creating a bloody ‘X’ on his frontal torso. He quickly used him as a shield, tanking the bullets from the second. He heard the gun click and flipped over the first man, landing with one of his sword into the head of the second. He whipped his swords in the air, ridding them of blood. After looking around, he plucked out a chip from his sleeve and placed it on a pad in the door. He heard some buzzing and then a click before he pushed the door open and stepped in.

“What is it Rufus? I’m fucking bathing now. Go back outside” he heard a voice say from the direction of the bathroom. He closed the door and slowly walked towards the voice, his steps cautious as they advanced. He stepped into the bathroom and saw clothes littered on the ground. He got the transparent glass bathing case and saw the pink-haired man in a bathtub covered in blood. A lady lay opposite him, cut open. “Who the fuck are you?” the man said rushing to get up. Khalid fired an arrow from his sleeve, pinning the man’s left hand to the glass wall. The man screamed in pain. “Rufus! Jonas!” he yelled struggling to get his hand off the glass as Khalid came closer.

“It’s no use. They were bad security for a man like you” Khalid replied and walked to the lady. He shifted her hair and looked at her face. “You bloody Americans leave your Canaan land and come to Egypt to spill blood. And you in particular enjoy cutting young girls open”

“She was a whore. A slut. She was already lost. I just made her more useful” the man replied shaking.

“You think drinking her blood and saying those stupid chants of yours makes the devil give you what you have? You are about to meet him then” Khalid raised his hand at the man’s direction.

“I am immortal. I can’t die! I had a deal with the devil. Hahaha. The more sacrifices I make, the more I escape death” the man laughed manically.

“I decide who is immortal. Say hello to the devil for me when you meet him. Or how do you lowlives say it? Wassup Lucifer” Khalid said and fired an arrow into his right bicep.

“Fuck you!” the man cursed, infuriating Khalid the more. He shot the man’s face till there was nothing but a cloud of arrows on a bleeding glass just above the lifeless body’s neck. He turned around and walked out of the bathroom. He could hear some voices and rushing feet.

“That was more than enough for a kill” the female spoke through his comms. He ran towards a window before the door was broken down from outside.

“She was Egyptian” Khalid replied and leaped out of the window and landed into a speeding van.

The smallest, located in the underground of Alexandria, Egypt and overseeing the business in Africa and Oceania, was headed by Marcus’ right hand man, the one whom everyone in the Arsenal knew as and called Damascus. The second branch stood in California, United States. It oversaw their operations in both Northern and Southern America and surrounding areas. It was their only public front, functioning under the guise of a martial arts school. Sitting at the top and chairladying all affairs of the branch was Marcus’ half-sister, Prisca, the most dangerous woman in the world they called her. The biggest, most notorious and most concealed of the all was the headquarters situated in the heart of Rome, Italy. It was there and still wasn’t. Technically, it stood as an old abandoned churchyard

The room was prominently dark, the only source of light being a window, more of a hole, very close to the ceiling. This was his lair. His weapons hung around the room, knives, arrows, crossbows, knuckle blades, shurikens and all sorts of crude assassinator weapons. The lair was an underground two-bedroom apartment situated beneath a continental hotel in Cairo. All his training and weapons had been sponsored and taken care of by a lady who chose to be referred to as Baroness. She had seen him assassinate people in the streets of Cairo and was impressed by how neat and stealthy, though amateur, he had done the jobs. She had approached him after one kill, the innocent-yet-determined look still in his eyes, and took him under her “wing”, though she was never close to him since then again. She bred him through different instructors in martial arts, a

CHAPTER FIVE – PHARAOH OF BLOOD New Memphis, Egypt The scenery depicted few towering buildings that stood out amongst the majority of lower buildings. It had obviously been designed, chiefly by the Royal House of Rameses, to replicate the glorious ancient empire of Egypt but in a modern way. The pyramids would have brought unnecessary attention to the land so the idea was cancelled out for the time being. The mantle of the Pharaoh had been reenacted with a touch of modernization. The “nemes” and “shendyt” were replaced by the golden crown and a winter coat laced with gold at its fringes. The palace was adorned as royal with golden furniture all over its interiors. Few people of the outside world knew of the existence of the city, mainly powerful, wealthy or prominent people. These people were either beneficial to the city’s advancement or its economy. Whenever they visited, they were assigned to residential quarters in the royal palace, under scrutiny of the existing Pharaoh’s guar

He simply went through one of the doors in the headquarters, automatically channeling his exit to the backdoor of a notorious club here in Alexandria. As he strode, he reflected on the trajectory of his life. This was his last mission under Marcus’ wing. After this he could either stay with Marcus as a contractor or become independent. But one the disadvantages of the latter was that his targets might be clients or friends of clients of Marcus. This was a problem he knew he couldn’t handle. He got to a deserted crossroad and looked around. There was a manhole cover right in the middle of the intersection of the roads. He could see some black-clothed figures lurking at strategic points on

Serving customers and greeting friends alike, most of who were inquiring of the previous incident. He went by a corner and sat alone, observing the girl. Either she was strong enough to endure a beating from the grey-dyed-haired man or she had a supporting force capable of saving her or defeating the man if the situation went beyond her breaking point. Either way, her staying back deeply impressed Khalid. When the space around her was clear, he walked to the counter. “Are you okay?” he asked without any formalities. The lady looked up, the temporary tattoo trailing from her eyelids to above her cheeks became more visibly detailed. She immediately recognized him as the man who had stood up for her and her expression switched to o

He had recounted his life from when his family escaped the Rameses coup to him losing his entire family and new master’s family in an inter-clan war with surviving at the cost of his sister. He also detailed how he encountered the Baroness on a ship while defending a merchant from marauders. He then described his life in service to Marcus Denarius who employed him after a failed mission of the Baroness’. As he explained these, he felt his initial fear of leaving Marcus diminish greatly. This was because he had found a much better master worth serving. And Khalid here was in no way inferior to him in terms of combat. The only difference was in their respective styles. While he enjoyed long range hunting of his prey, delivering lethal shots, Khalid

Akinis had contracted his bow into a harp-like object which he hung on his waist, reducing the conspicuousness. The Eagle on the other hand slung his crossbow across his back in a hunter’s fashion. It was like he was ready to be treated hostilely. Khalid wasn’t comfortable walking with these two former associates. Though Akinis was yet to show any malicious intent, he still had to be wary. The carefree attitude of the Eagle was too discomforting. It was like he was leading the duo to a slaughterhouse and they were consentingly following. The trio had changed into the Egyptian commoners’ attire so they easily blended into the inhabitants. They looked like a hunter and his sons coming back from a futile hunt. Only this father carried a rather too military crossbow. As they neared the urban parts of the city, they could spo

Check the weapons room!” Alison ordered to different Maidens. Some other Maidens had rushed out of their several locations and were running down stairs, running up stairs, rushing out of elevators, sliding down poles. Alison ran alone towards an elevator and stepped in. She flicked a switch on her staff and blades extended from both ends. Her face was pale and traces of blood were visible on her nose, eyes, ears and mouth regions. They cautiously looked further past the dead maids on the flood and saw another body on the ground. The body was pale and dried of blood. Its neck was slashed open in a crude manner. They looked at the face and saw the once haughty, bloody and evil Pharaoh. Now he was slain like a sacrificial animal. The last figure was a young man who sat weakly on the steps before the throne. Uncle? Or have you lost all respect and love for your only family?” Hasani asked, his grin fixed. “You lost all that right the day you plotted against His Majesty” Akinis said from the side.
