Jude had taken the next two days off to heal. After all, he couldn't get back to school with the way he looked. He had made sure to call the principal and let him know he wasn't coming for a few days.

The principal had promptly cut the phone on him, even when he had said he would provide a medical report when he came into work.

He had gotten Brady to get him a couple of shirts and official pant trousers so he could have appropriate attire for work. He had also gotten a pair of shoes and at least, this one didn't pinch his toe like his other old pair.

He borrowed Brady's bike, riding all the way to school and parking in the teachers parking space before he went to the general office. He had actually made up his mind that if he ended up choosing to go home, he would resign.

But he still wasn't sure.

He still had his old battered car as he had driven it away from the house that day, but he didn't drive it because the old thing wouldn't start.
