3. A system

The splashing of water soaked Lucian's clothes. He was dragged into consciousness by the cold and pain aching through his entire body. Lucian could tell it was raining but dared not open his swollen eyes. He felt like he had been run over by a truck, and all he wanted to do was stay there until the suffering passed.

"Lucian Morningstar," A warm, feminine voice called through the rattling sound of the rain. Lucian didn't know who it was but didn't bother to think due to the stings from his head, and he remained still, waiting for whoever it was to go away.

"Lucian Morningstar," the female voice sounded closed, and Lucian grunted when he tried to open his eyes. His vision was heavy and blurry, taking seconds to adapt to the night.

He struggled to his feet, but his legs felt jelly, and he crashed back to the ground, coughing out blood. It took Lucian a few minutes to regain his strength, and finally, he staggered to his feet.

Lucian turned to the direction of the voice but didn't see the woman who was calling his name. He recognized where he was, and the thought of those bastards leaving him to die made him rage and curse under his breath.

When Lucian was sure he was alone, he turned and limped towards the opposite street, leading back to his dormitory.

After a few minutes, the structure of his dormitory came into view. Lucian entered the long hallway, which was filled with silence as most of the students at the dormitory were either sleeping or were still at the party. Lucian was thankful he didn't have to suffer the pains and humiliation from those he thought would be waiting to mock him the moment he got home, and since bad news travels fast, the humiliation of his breakup had already gone around campus.

Lucian brought out his keys and forced his door open. He heaved a sigh of relief as none of his roommates were around to bombard him with questions he wasn't ready to answer.

Lucian lay on the floor while his brain played back the events of today, from being dumped by his girlfriend to being dumped at the roadside. He didn't know how he had survived the beating after breaking his principles of never picking a fight.

Nobody would look down on him if he weren't poor and wretched. Only if his parent were still alive and his father had not married another wife after his mother's death, he wouldn't be in the street. These thoughts made Lucian want to share tears, but his eyes were tired and lingered on the ceiling. After a while, Lucian closed his eyes, hoping that sleep would come.

"Lucian Morningstar," a female voice jolted Lucian out of his slumber. Lucian instinctively stood on his feet.

"Shit!" He grunted, holding his stomach, which was twitching in pain. "What is your problem lady!" Lucian yelled, almost in tears.

"Sorry Master Lucian but you need to finish the unification process." the voice informed him. Lucian turned around, staring at his empty room with no one else.

"Who is there?" he asked, and his eyes stayed sharp in the dark corner of his room. He waited for the person to reply but got no response. Lucian reached for the switch, turning on the light to find his room empty. He frowned and paced toward the bathroom door but saw no one.

Lucian heaved a sigh. "Now I'm hearing things," he muttered under his breath.

"No, you're not," Lucian flinched at the voice. His eyes fell to his pocket, which was emitting a green light. Lucian slides his hand and brings out the necklace that his father gave him.

A hologram slowly emerged, displaying different information relating to him. "I'm Viri, your God system assistant." The familiar female voice that Lucian has been hearing said.

Lucian wore a wrinkled expression and a furrowed brow as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "What is this?" Lucian asked, eyeing the information on the screen. The hologram screen, which was small, suddenly enlarged, filling his entire room with photos and secrets of his past.

"Lucian Morningstar, son of Gabriel and Victoria Morningstar," the first statement of Viri stung his heart. He didn't remember when he was last addressed like that.

The rest of his eyes widened in disbelief at the information the hologram projected, which included how his stepmother chased him out of his father's house and threatened to kill him if he ever returned.

Susanna was now the new CEO of Morningstar Continental; it is referred to as a private country inside Greenxive. The island was where every business and property was controlled and owned by Gabriel Morningstar after the tragedy of his death and the disappearance of his son. Susanna Morningstar took over the continental for herself and her children.

"That witch stole everything from me!" Lucian gritted his teeth.

Lucian frowned, averting his eyes from the hologram, which reminded him of how wretched he was.

"Lucian Morningstar can choose to accept or decline the unification of the God system and the blessing it contains," Viri's voice echoed again. Lucian scratched his tempo, curious as to what Viri meant by the blessings of the God System.

"What is the Good system and its blessings?" Lucian asked.

With a beep, the screen of the hologram clears the current information and displays a new one.

"The god system provides you with power to achieve a greater height of supremacy on planet Earth. This includes an unlimited supply of resources, like wealth and unique ability, that would come in handy, but all that can only be archived when you have enough System points to purchase them.

Lucian scratched his head and sat on his bed to comprehend Viri's words, which sounded too good to be true. The part that triggered his interest was the mention of wealth.

"Do you mean the system will provide me with wealth?" Lucian eyes winden as the thought sank in.

"Yes. The System will grant you wealth and special abilities." Viri added.

"Special abilities? Do you mean like mind reading?" Lucian asked randomly.

"Mind reading is among the unique abilities you can purchase from the store," Viri replied, making Lucian swallow the lump in his throat. "No, you cannot bring back the dead to life," Viri replied immediately. Lucian thought of it, making him furrow his brow, surprised that Viri could read his mind.

"You can read my thoughts?" Lucain was stunned.

"Yes, and you and the system will fully be one if you accept the unification but you can also decline if you wish to," Viri said.

Lucian shook his head. "Of course I accept."

"Right choice Master,"

A bright, blinding light made Lucian shrink his eyes, and when the light died down, Lucian opened his eyes and saw that the hologram was displaying from his eyes like he was wearing glasses.

"System is fully accessible by Lucain Morningstar."
