James drove his car to the Inauguration event center the next morning. There were police vans parked in the parking lot and paparazzi seemed to have crowded the place. He spotted the Soldier who had been in charge of the preparations when the General was not around."What is going on?" James asked him. He wore a white t-shirt on top his army trousers. The sun was hot and his shades reflected the sunlight."The General has gone missing, Sir." The soldier replied.James let out a light chuckle as he turned to him."What do you mean the General is missing. How could a whole General be missing?" James asked him sardonically."I'm serious Sir. He went missing last night. There was an incident here at the Center and the General had come to check it out. We all were inside when he stepped out. He had not informed anyone he was leaving but, he was on his phone when he left." The Soldier replied, maintaining a serious expression."What did the cops find?" James asked."Well, the Local police
Sarah spotted her cousin, Jasmine, from the doorway. FELINE was the only classy place within a mile range of Brooklyn. She knew Jasmine would be doing business there. As soon as she had gotten her call that afternoon, she jumped out of bed and hurriedly put her clothes on. She had been taking a power nap while pondering on the disaster that was her life. The double glass doors bombed each other as she walked into the boutique."Sarah!" Jasmine chirped happily, waving at Sarah from one of the sections. Sarah walked up to her wearing a very exhausted expression which was far from that of a person who had just gotten out of bed."You don't look like you just had a day's sleep." Jasmine's pretty light-pitched voice belled out."And you look like you just stepped out of vogue." Sarah admired the red, taffeta dress her cousin wore. The young girl who stood beside her took pictures. That was her job. She was a lifestyle model. She was doing it in Denver or Michigan if she wasn't showing the
James rushed into the hospital where the General's wife had been pulled in for labor. He knew he had to make sure the General was okay. It was already one week before the Inauguration ceremony. In just a few days, the General would be retired. Why anyone would want to take him now was still ambiguous to James. The head doctor walked into the reception with gloves on his hand. He looked perturbed. James walked up to him."Doctor. How is she?" He asked bearing down on the average-height man who was older in age and wore lenses over his blue nose mask."Who are you?" The Doctor asked, but when he spotted James's camouflage pants, he immediately clammed his mouth shut."Are you the General's second in command?" He adjusted his question."Yes, I am," James replied."Come with me." The Doctor said. They stood outside the operation room where the General's wife laid on a table with her open and some nurses attended to her.James could see the mountain of blood soaked wool which was being use
"You listen to that stupid girl way too much! I have warned you severally that Jasmine is not someone you ought to be paying any attention to. She is a wild card!" Mrs Brown scolded Sarah."Mother! Come on, that is too much please!" Sarah retorted."You think? Tell me, what decent girl goes around cities dressing in skimpy clothes, claiming to be a lifestyle model?" Mrs Brown scoffed with her nose squeezed in disgust."One who is making a lot of cash and killing it in America!" Jasmine chirped, as she walked into their living room."Oh really? Your mother called two weeks ago! Jasmine, two weeks ago, and do you know what she told me?" Mrs Brown said to her.Jasmine rolled her eyes sarcastically at her and plopped down into the chair beside Sarah."She told me that she has not heard from you in six months. Six months Jasmine! What sort of daughter are you? I have sent money to her more than three times this month. You have not sent her a dime now, have you?" Mrs Brown queried her.
"Why are you doing this?" The General asked the man in front of him. He had a mask on. But the General was far too familiar with that mask."You really underestimate me, General. I do not want much from you. I just want us to discuss." The electronic magnified voice filled the room."What do you want to talk about?" The General's voice was already rough as a result of the cold that seemed to surround the part of town they were in."That stunt you and your men pulled... It cost me a whole lot." The voice said."You cost yourself a whole lot. You thought you were harming the Military by setting up such a huge pick on Mr. Chen. Dark clouds, you lost more than a dozen men. Now, you pick a fight with me?" The General chuckled."My fight is not with you." Dark Clouds said, moving his gun in his hand."Oh, James Johnson then. You are really lacking in skillfulness and tact. I mean, do you really want me to believe that this is solely about James Johnson? Okay fine! Say it is. Then what?" Th
James turned around to find the Captain standing across the street from him. He walked over to where he stood."What is it?" James asked. His hands were folded across his chest."What were you doing over at the laboratory?" The captain asked.James suspected that he had seen him go in with the plank, and so he thought to structure his next reply carefully."Well, something needed fixing and I went to check it out. Anyway, how is the search for the General coming along?" James asked him.The General gave him a penetrating look that depicted mistrust and suspicion. James kept his shoulders high and his arms folded."The search is going fine. The men are out looking for evidence and... And any... Anything that could b-b-be a lead!" The General stammered nervously."Why aren't you with them?" James asked. He had long had his suspicions about the Captain but he needed to be certain first."I had to see to things here at the base. And you? What re you not out doing your job?" The Captain re
Sarah realized she would have to stand up and figure things out for herself. Williams was surely hiding something. Why on earth would he be pushing for them to get married while she was yet to get a proper divorce from James? She waited outside the city Hall where Williams had gone to speak with the Marriage Registrar about the wedding proceedings."Listen, I need you to tell me what has been going on." Jasmine's voice cut into her thoughts.Sarah turned to her, pushing her black shades further up her eyes."I do not know either. Williams changed all of a sudden from the moment he decided to push that engagement down my throat. He became hostile all of a sudden and that... This is all too suspicious!" Sarah blurted out."Duck!" Jasmine pushed her down as soon as Williams turned in their direction. The red Elantra SE was parked just outside the City Hall."That was close," Jasmine commented. They both watched William's car drive out of the parking lot and away from the surroundings."W
James's phone vibrated severally within his pockets as he crept towards one of the big open windows that belonged to the shed. There were railings on one of them, but the other was used as an avenue for fully airing out the room.It also had a long flexible pipe standing beside it."Get the other men to the front. " The deep voice instructed.James could hear a low grunting sound coming from inside the room."Hey! You better eat, it is going to be a really long night in for us all." The man muttered."I'm not hungry." The voice James knew so well replied. His heart skipped a beat when he realized that he had been right all along."The General!" He exclaimed to himself.James charged up and rushed to the other side of the shed which had an open window with bars. He peeped at the tall man who stood in front of the door. The General looked okay. He was not bruised or beaten up.The man moved to the other window without bars and James saw his chance.Without wastinf any more time, he ran
