"What do you mean you cannot feel the Phoenix?"

Alastair asked Cara who stopped sobbing and gazed into nothing in particular. She just sat there as a million thoughts roamed around her mind. She just didn't know exactly how to explain it to Alastair at that time.

"When I woke up earlier, I felt something shift within me. I thought it was just the aftermath of the attack so I shrugged it off. But I tried to feel my magic just now and I could not. It's not there."

She whispered the latter part. Alastair did not say a thing. He just contemplated the problem before him.

"Your menu?" Alastair said to Cara. She touched her right shoulder but nothing happened. There was no magic to even initiate the process. It was real!

"Alastair, what if Corvius killed the Phoenix?" Cara asked and recoiled.
