Chapter 3: Repaying the beautiful landlady.

Con could see that Aubrey was enraged.

For one her face had turned red and her nostrils were flaring. She was trying to rein her anger in but it wasn't working.

It seemed these two had an issue to sort out and it would be normal for a tenant to want to be out of the way in a situation like this, but Constantine didn't trust this John guy. He looked like the sort of person that would do something foolish because he thought he was entitled enough to do it. The bodyguards he had behind him too didn't make matters any easier.

"I need the boy back Aubrey."

"That wasn't what we agreed on John. That was not what we agreed on."

Aubrey could hear the pain in her own voice. There was anger there too. She let herself bask in that anger and find strength from it. Oddly the presence of someone else also made her feel a level of reassurance.

When she and John had divorced, they had signed a legally binding contract stating that she would be responsible for the care and raising of their son. John never loved her. He only got married to her because of her looks and due to the wishes of his parents. They wanted to show the world that the rich Lambert family could get married to someone from the lower class.

Aubrey had intentionally asked for full custody of her son. The life John and his family led was one that would destroy them at the end. They lied, stole, pretended. and they still had the guts to feel they were the most righteous people on the planet.

John himself was a womanizer and a drunk, but to the society he was the diligent and dashing heir of the Lambert family. He couldn't take care of himself talk less of their child. John was no better than a child himself!

John only looked at the expressions that flashed across Aubrey's face with disinterest. He didn't care what she said or what she would say. He would get the boy back.

He raised his hand up.

"I'm not here to argue or listen to your excuses. I'm here to tell you i need my son back."

Aubrey only scoffed.

"In what world do you think i'll hand my child over to you? This one?"

Aubrey only released a low laugh at that. She smiled and she fixed her gaze on John.

"Can i remind you of something?"

"You.. you were the same person that called that son a wimp, a boy who looked too much like his mother to be yours. You called my son a bastard and accused me of having him with my own brother!. You were the one that said all those things. I can bring out the gossip sites that say the same thing. Should i John? Should i?"

Con could hear the pain in his landlady's voice. He could tell that she had been repressing all these emotions. Aubrey was always calm and composed, a sweet smile on her face at all times and her voice as sweet as a summer morning.

Constantine felt like giving someone a slap.

The fact that she looked so furious made him furious.

Did this John person feel like dying?

Almost like John could feel the killing intent radiating off someone, a chill crept up his spine. A chill that made goosebumps pop out all over his body. He looked at the other person who still stood by his wife's side.

A common bodyguard.

She was having an affair with a bodyguard. The clear words that spelt out "security" on the other man's uniform made him feel disgusted.

A lowlife. Aubrey was having an affair with a lowlife.

He scoffed.

"As i said earlier, i am not here to argue with you. Get angry if you want to. I don't care. I need the boy back."

"I am not handing my son over to you. Over my dead body."

Con gave a small nod in agreement to that.

Over her foolish ex husband's dead body. He wouldn't be around and watch Aubrey die. Of course not.

If John made any stupid moves, he just might not live to regret it.

John could feel his temper flaring.

"I will have that boy back. I am his father!"

"You hardly act like it!. I mean listen to yourself John, referring to your own son as that boy! I am never going to even let you set eyes on him, not ever again. You can turn the whole city upside down if you want. You can turn the whole country upside down, search and search but i can assure you that you will never find my son."

Never! Not while she was alive.

Aubrey felt righteous fury within her. John had cheated on her, accused her of incest, let him and his godforsaken family treat her and her son the way they wanted. Only John's grandfather had a fondness for their son, she was sure as hell that was the reason why he was here

Aubrey swallowed the tears that threatened to fall out of her eyes. She returned the glare her husband gave her.

John lost it at the sight of the defiance in her eyes.

In a split second he had raised his hand up and he made to hit Aubrey.

Did she think she could talk back at him because of the fool she had by her side? He had six body guards with him! He would beat her into submission! His men could deal with the trash she had for a lover.

John could see his hand coming down towards Aubrey's face. But when it hit, it didn't make any sound.

His hand didn't even come in contact with anything at all.

He realised someone had captured that hand, someone had an iron like grip on it.

John could feel his wrist being pressed in. The blood flow was being cut off from his hand and his hand felt like it would burst.

A scream rent the silence that had settled in the air.
