At the military base in Karnaan City…“Are you sure you want to head home now, Jade? We can stay here for the night if you'd like.”“Let’s just go home. Tony placed the A3-sized photo on top of the pile of documents handed to him by the Commander. He looked at the Commander, saying while squinting, "I don't know the person in this photo. Tony slammed the door shut. For a split second, Bernard caught a glimpse of a pair of legs sprawled across the doorway. Two of Bernard's personal bodyguards were stationed outside Erina's room. It seemed Tony had taken them both down, likely knocking one unconscious. Bernard wondered what was going through Tony's mind when he decided to take out his guards. After all, they were in a hospital. "Don't play coy, Mr. Valmont. You know why I'm here," Tony said, glancing briefly at Erina lying on the hospital bed before locking eyes with Bernard again. Tony couldn't believe his eyes. Jessica was standing there, and the way she’d walked straight up to him after stepping off the elevator told him she was here for him. “Tony, there’s something you need to know,” Jessica said, her voice serious. Tony stared at her, trying to process this sudden appearance. “Ma’am, please back away. We’re trying to secure this individual. He’s dangerous,” one of the security guards surrounding Tony said. Jessica glanced at the guard coldly, then ignored him. “Ma’am, please stop right there!” another guard warned. She ignored him again. One of the guards was reassigned from guarding Tony to blocking Jessica. This time, her progress stopped. “Ma’am, for your own safety, please stop approaching and let us—” Whack! Before the guard could finish his sentence, Jessica unleashed a lightning-fast kick, a move straight out of a taekwondo textbook, that landed squarely on his neck. Even though Bernard had given his orders clearly, none of the police officers approached. They remained in their respective positions, as if they were waiting for the real order. Of course, this made Bernard unhappy. Would these cops only arrest Tony if the one giving them the order was their commander? It was ridiculous if that was the case! Sweep! Bernard pulled back his robe, taking out the pistol he had hidden under it. He cocked the pistol, then pointed it at Tony. "It's okay if you don't want to arrest him right away. I'll cripple him so he can't escape when your commander arrives," Bernard sneered. Jessica turned and looked at Bernard anxiously. She didn't know Bernard Valmont, but it seemed like he was crazy enough. He could actually shoot Tony in front of these cops. Bernard Valmont was truly shocked to hear what Tony said. He fell silent for a moment, stunned and looking stupid. But then, he thought that Tony was just bluffing him, because when he thought about it again, what Tony said didn't make sense. So he smirked and laughed. “You bastard! You're trying to play me, huh! How dare you! You think I believe your bullshit?” Bernard scoffed. Tony raised one eyebrow, looking at Bernard strangely. He released his grip on Bernard's left shoulder and pushed Bernard's back with his foot. Bernard fell and his forehead briefly touched the dry and slightly hot hospital floor. "Shit! You're a fucking bastard! You fucking crossed the line, you know that?!" Bernard cursed, glaring at Tony with a flushed face. Of course, Tony didn't care.
