4: That one rule

“O-kay, we can do that. Aren’t you going to buy toys and others for them as well?” she asked. 

Liam thought her idea was brilliant. After their schedule, they headed first to buy things for the kids and the sisters at the shelter. They even bought a lot of food and goods for them to consume for months. And that made them cost a lot, but Liam doesn’t care. 

“Liam! Where did you get your money to buy these things?” one of the sisters asked. 

Liam just smiled softly. He doesn’t know what to say. 

“Uhm, it’s from my savings.” he answered. 

His sister looked so confused staring at him. 

“Nah, I can’t believe you saved a lot of money just for us. I thought you wanted to build your own company?” she asked. 

Liam became shy when the sister said that, but it was already too late because Althea heard it. 

“Is that true? What business do you want to build?” she asked. 

The sister laughed and shook her head. 

“Liam is a very talented guy, Althea. Since he was young, he was good at all things. He was an introvert, but he loves to fix things and design things.” she said. 

Althea frowned while Liam just scratched the back of his neck because he got shy. 

“Wow, that’s nice.” Althea mumbled. 

Liam just shrugged his shoulder and shook his head. He just excused himself and went to play with the kids. Althea and sister were both left. 

“So, you’re his new friend?” the sister asked her. 

“Yes, sister.” she smiled.  The sister took a deep breath and smiled. 

“Do you know Megan too?” she asked her.  Althea just chuckled a bit and nodded. 

“That woman is such a bad influence on Liam. I know they already broke up, because Liam always came here with Megan to visit, but now he came with you.” the sister said. 

Althea would never think she would think that way, but she was impressed by how the sister knows Liam too well. She even told Althea things about Liam which made her have an idea of the next step they were going to buy and take. 

“Congratulations on spending 1/8th of your money already.” she chuckled. 

They just arrived at his house and the lot they had bought. It wasn’t just a normal house, because it’s a mansion. And the rest of what they spent, he donated to the shelter. 

“It’s so hard to spend such money.” he sighed. 

“That’s okay. You can do this. I have assisted a lot already and they had spent it in three days. You don’t have to worry about it.” she smiled. 

Liam thanked her again. It was already dark, and he began to worry about Althea. 

“Althea, where is your house?” he asked her. 

“Uhm, we are not allowed to say things about our personal life, Mr. Flynn. But don’t worry, I can go home by myself. Tonight, you just need to rest and think about where to spend your money tomorrow. Good night.” Althea said and smiled at him. 

Liam just sighed. 

“Okay. I understand, but I don’t get this game. It’s kind of happy, but spending too much money just to win is just unfair.” he mumbled.

  Althea chuckled. 

“I know. Everyone who gets to join this game thought about it too, but don’t you worry, the CEO is very wealthy.” she said. 

Liam couldn’t help but nod. Althea bid her goodbye already and he was just surprised that an expensive car appeared in front of her. Liam stared at his new home and couldn’t help but smile. 

“I still couldn’t believe this is happening.” he said. 

But he couldn’t help but feel sad as well because he was alone. The maids and other helpers are going to arrive tomorrow. While he was fixing his things inside his new room, his new expensive phone started to ring.

  “Unknown number.” he mumbled. 

He just answered the call and was surprised. 

“Congratulations on your day one. This call is to inform you that you passed day one but let me remind you. Getting in contact with your personal assistant is not allowed.” an automated voice said. 

Liam was surprised. 

“Althea?” he asked. 

“Yes, Althea. One prohibited rule is not to get in touch with her on this game. If that happens, Althea might lose her job.” system said. 

Liam couldn’t understand what it means. 

“What do you mean that I can’t get in touch with her if I need her on this?” he groaned. 

“What we mean is that, don’t get romantically involved with her.” the system said. 

Liam couldn’t help but laugh. 

“Wh-at? Are you for real?! It’s not going to happen. She is just helping me.” he said. 

“We know, but many failed because of this matter. I hope you have a good night. Good night, Mr. Flynn.” The call ended.  Liam just felt it was so weird. 

“Wait, how about my job?” he groaned. 

He quickly called his boss using his old phone, but he was surprised that his boss calmly told him that he resigned, and he knew it was all Althea’s doing. 

“Good morning, Liam Flynn. I hope you had a good sleep.” Althea came very early. 

Liam groaned as he looked at the time. 

“What? It’s just five in the morning.” he said. 

“Yes, it is, but you need to get up. Remember, you still have more money to spend.” she reminded him. 

Liam barely opened his eyes and scoffed. 

“God, this is so insane. How can I live with this?” he scoffed. 

She just laughed at him and sighed. 

“Dear, if you want to win, you have to do this. I thought you wanted to avenge yourself?” she asked. 

She knows he could change his mind with that thing. Liam just took a deep breath and stared at the gorgeous woman and sighed.
