6: The joke

"Wow! This is the place." Liam said.

Althea couldn't say anything about the place either. It was very different from the first places they had seen and checked out. It was even more beautiful than the place Raven had taken in the first place.

"Liam, are we dreaming? This place is very unique same with it's price." she giggled.

While they were chatting, someone came out of the building with a wide smile.

"Are you Liam Flynn and Althea?" he asked.

"Yes, we are here to check the building and the place, but I don't think we need to check it first because we are already buying it." Liam said with a smile.

The guy was very surprised but it made him to chuckle.

"Is that so? Then, I would be happy to transfer this to you. Why don't we go inside and sign the papers?" the guy asked.

Liam and Althea went inside and they were surprised to see how beautiful the place was. It just needs a little bit of renovation and painting because the place was almost abandoned. After signing the papers...

"Congratulations for your new property. I hope you are going to take care of it." the guy said.

Liam just smiled and thanked him. 

"We are using your remaining money to buy things to use in here for renovation. Pay for the workers and everything." Althea said.

He agreed with what she said. After taking care of everything, it was already evening. The investments with other companies are already done. 

"I am so tired and so happy. I thought we couldn't spend that much money, but looks like we did it." he mumbled.

Althea just congratulated him.

"Congratulations, you made the first step." she smiled.

"Yeah, I know. But we still have $2,500 left." he said.

Althea closed her eyes. She thought she could rest after a long day. 

"What do you want to buy? I think we already bought too much goods at your house." she chuckled.

Liam nodded and stared at her. Althea just asked him why is he looking at her just like that.

"I was thinking, why don't I treat you to dinner?" he asked.

Althea was very surprised to speak. Liam was even waiting for her to speak.

"So?" he asked.

Althea just couldn't help but shake her head and chuckle.

"W-ow, I don't know what to say. You are the first joiner who would treat me." she giggled.

Liam was very shocked as well, but he was very proud of himself.

"Of course, I wouldn't pass the first test without you. So, shall we go?" he asked and smiled.

Althea just chuckled and nodded. For them to spend his remaining money, he decided to take her to the restaurant where he dreamed a lot of having a meal with Megan before, but that wouldn't be happening anymore.

"This place is what I wanted to have a meal with her before. We always wanted to come and dine in here, but because I don't have money, we couldn't." he smiled bitterly.

Althea can see the pain in his eyes.

"She doesn't deserve you, Liam. You deserve better." she said.

"Yeah, I was just blind to see that before." he sighed.

After taking their orders, Megan and Khaled were surprised to see them there.

"Oh! What a surprise to see you here!" Khaled chuckled.

Megan chuckled as well. Liam and Althea just looked at them.

"We were here to have dinner and not to argue with anyone." ALthea said.

But Khaled scoffed at what she just said.

"Are you sure he can pay for your meal? Or maybe you will be the one paying?" Khaled chuckled.

Megan couldn't help but laugh hard with what Khaled just asked Althea. Liam just shook his head and smirked.

"Why do you care if I can pay it or not? Why? Are you willing to pay for it?" Liam asked him.

Khaled was very shocked by the way he talked to him. Megan was even pissed.

"Khaled just cared about the woman you are with, Liam. We don't want her to be embarrassed." Megan said.

But Althea couldn't help but laugh with them.

"You two really are good for each other. You have the same attitude." Althea said.

Megan couldn't help but get pissed with what she just said.

"Be careful with what you say, missy! You don't even know who he is." Megan threatened her.

But Althea just scoffed shaking her head.

"And you don't know who she is, Megan." Liam said.

"And so? I don't care who she is! You know me. I am not afraid of anything or anyone." she smirked.

Liam just chuckled and took a deep breath. Their orders just arrived, it was many and both Khaled and Megan swallowed hard to see they ordered a lot.

"And let me tell you, what if I say she's the daughter of the President?" Liam asked.

Althea looked at him with her bigger eyes, but Liam just winked at her. Althea couldn't help but hold unto her laugh. Megan and Khaled looked so surprised when he said that. Looks like his plan worked.

"I don't ca--re as well." Megan said.

"Why don't you just leave us alone and we are going to enjoy our food?" Liam barely asked.

Megan just looked at him and looked away. 

"Khaled, let's go." Megan said and grabbed his arm.

After they left, they started to laugh.

"What the hell? I am the daughter of the President. I didn't know?" Althea scoffed. Liam just sighed and shook his head.

"But you had seen it worked. They got scared when I said that," he said laughing.

Althea just groaned and sighed. She looks at the food and starts to crave it.

"Come on, let's eat everything before it gets warm. Just ignore her being with him right now. I know you still feel bad when you see her. Just enjoy the moment for now and you will be rich when you wake up." she smirked.
