Lucas met with Emily much later that day. He had a small from on his face and despite how much he tried to conceal it, Emily was able to pick it up.

“You don’t look good today. Is everything okay? Or, did one of those rich dudes step on your toes again?” Emily asked Lucas who gulped down hard and stared at her for a minute.

He wanted to come clean and tell her the entire truth, but not a single word seemed to be coming out of his lips.

“Do you want to go to dinner with me?” Lucas asked Emily who couldn’t believe her ears.

She took a moment to stare at him again, this time, paying more attention to his entire features. He didn’t look like someone who could afford taking someone to a dinner at the moment.

“I don’t think that would be a good idea. I mean…I would love to go to dinner with you”, Emily noted and smiled nervously.

“Dress in the best dress you can lay your hands on. I will come pick you up at 7”, Lucas said to Emily who smiled and nodded her head in affirmation.

“Whose car is that?” Claire asked Emily who was as shocked as she was. Emily knew that she was going out with Lucas and as long as she was concerned, he had no car. Claire looked at Emily for one last time after which she dashed out of the room and started making her way towards the entrance of the house. Emily’s step mother came out as well. They all heard the sound of the car pulling up in the driveway and couldn’t restrain the curiosity to know who it was. Lucas took in a deep breath as he remained in the car. He had a thousand thoughts swirling around his head. At first, he had no idea of why he decided to drive one of the cars of the Belcraft group, but a part of his heart was certain that he was doing something right. He picked up his phone and sent a quick text message to Emily. “I’m here to pick you up. You can come out now”, he said to her in the text. Emily was shocked the minute the message got into her phone. At first, she thought that she was only having a wild hall

Lucas looked at Claire and her mother, wondering how possible it was that he was standing in the middle of two dumb people. “You came here with a stolen car?” Claire’s mother asked, with a great look of hate in her expression. Lucas clicked his teeth and clenched his fist in rage. He felt the urge to blurt out and yell at them, but on a second thought, he resolved to being quiet and observant instead. “I’m talking to you! You must have such nerves to think that you can come into this house with a stolen car. Are you trying to make us your accomplices?” Claire’s mother asked again, fuming with rage and breathing heavily. “Mum, would you believe that I thought it was the heir of Belcraft group or someone big who have come to see us. Who would have known that it was this poor fool?” Claire said and immediately, Lucas felt a pang on his chest. He wanted to talk but again, he remained silent and just looked at them, not making any attempt to utter a single word. “We should call the p

Emily was quite shocked to see the confidence Lucas used in telling her that they would eat there. That was unlike him and even if she was excited to eat there, she wasn’t ready for any form of troubles. “Lucas, we had our own share of troubles back there in my house. The last thing I want at this point is any more trouble because of how confident you are. We know that we don’t have so much money with us and I’m so good with that fact. We can always go to a cheaper place and have dinner”, Emily explained to Lucas who wasn’t making any attempt to listen to her. Lucas had a soft look on his face just as he stared at the receptionist who didn’t have any expression on her face.“So…are you saying that I should leave or are you the one ready to leave your job?” Lucas asked the receptionist whose eyes popped out of her socket. She was blank and shocked by what Lucas had just said. “My job?” She asked and Lucas nodded in affirmation. There was something different about Lucas and even if

Lucas didn’t say anything else. He only picked out his phone and sent a quick text. The next minute, they all heard the sound of a footstep running over to them. Every one including Emily was shocked to see the manager of the restaurant running from within and heading towards them as though he just heard a news that would stand as a threat to his life. Emily stared at him intently and back at the receptionist who was surprised to see her boss running towards them. “What is going on here? Who did you all trample upon?” He yelled out of his lungs, panting heavily and trying so hard to breath. Emily squinted her eyes as she looked at him again, trying to wonder what he was talking about at the moment. “Are you the young man who was denied access into this restaurant?” He asked as he turned to Lucas who nodded his head in affirmation and folded his hands to his chest. The man and his woman were beginning to get enraged at this point. They didn’t seem to understand why the manager w

“I tell you, Mr. Boulevard, the company is not -” Brown suddenly got interrupted by his secretary's unexpected entry into his office. He turned immediately, and paused on the phone call, watching how rapidly she was breathing, her hands were on her chest like she had just gotten into a hot chase. “Let me call you back, Mr. Boulevard. It seems I've got something crucial to attend to.” He said and put the call to an end immediately. Lesley, the secretary, was still breathing fast, even as she watched him drop the phone. She knew her unwanted, and uncalled-for action was going to get her into deep trouble. But, if she didn't deliver her message on time, it could cost her her job. “Lesley,” Mr. Brown started and let out a sigh. “Do you understand the gravity of the nonsense you just pulled off? How dare you barge into my office without my permission? What has gotten into you?” He questioned her, staring at her in utmost anger and irritation. “I'm sorry, sir, but I couldn't help it. W

“Hello sir, how may I help you?” The secretary asked, as she stared at him, and passed him a smile. “I'm here to see the heir of the Belcraft. Is he in? It's urgent, and it can't wait.” He answered quickly, having a slight feeling of impatience. “I'm sorry, but he's not in right now. You'll have to wait for him.” She answered and immediately, his face turned sour. “I have to wait? For how long?” He questioned. “I don't know. He went out for a brief meeting, and I don't know for how long it will last.” She replied, and Mr. Brown hissed. He stood and began to think of the situation he had been put in. Should he just drop his information and leave to wait for a response later on? Or, should he sit and wait like a fool? After all, he had come there for the welfare of his company, and an event that will benefit them all. “Alright, I'll wait for him. Where's his office?” He questioned and she stood up immediately. “His office is right this way, sir. I'm pretty sure he'll be on his w

  • THE HEIR OF BELCRAFT    Chapter 136

It had been three hours since Mr. Brown had been waiting for the heir to the Belcraft. He was beginning to get irritated and extremely provoked at the delay. For someone of his status, he shouldn't be waiting for a young man who was the age of one of his son's to come bail him out. It was an insult to him. But, dear old Mr. Brown had no other option than to wait. If he didn't, he was going to lose billions, which the event would bring for him. Tired of sitting as his butt hurt already, he stood up and began to walk around the office. He tried to free himself from the anger and pain he was beginning to feel. He began scanning the office, and some of the properties he saw in the office, the paintings, how the walls had been creatively painted. It was at that moment his eyes got revealed to certain things his anger had blinded at the first stage. “Oh boy, I must say that the Belcraft are multi-billionaires.” He suddenly said to himself, smiling. “Well, who could have thought.” He said

Lucas began to take his step around his office as he thought of the right punishment to give Mr. Brown. For the past few months, he had gotten news of a certain billionaire who looked down on the poor and never failed to embarrass them when he got the chance to. However, he had not fully believed, until he met him. And now, he had the power for payback. He watched Mr. Brown, still on the floor, apologizing for his ill attitude towards him. But he wondered, was he truly apologizing because he had just realized his mistake? Or, was he doing so because of what he had to gain in return for it? Slowly, he took his steps closer to him and stopped when he was standing right in front of him already. “Now, I'm just so curious.” He began, and Mr. Brown raised his head to meet his eyes. While he was still on his knees. “Why did you come here in the first place?” He asked. “Oh. I heard that you had pulled out as a sponsor for the balladry event coming up soon. I was really surprised because I

Before Lucas could make a movement out of the location, a gang of boys had gathered already, surrounding him. The old man couldn't just stop calling him a thief even after he had explained to him that the money belonged to him. However, at some point in time, Lucas couldn't blame them. He had not taken his time to think through his actions. He should have known that it was definitely going to be outrageous for an odd looking man like him to display such huge amount of money, even if he was in disguise. No one but him knew he was in disguise as a poor man after all.Soon enough, it looked to him like the old man had filled the gang in with the wrong details. That explained the disapproving and angry stares they gave to him. It was unfortunate that even as he tried to plead with them so he could tell them the truth from the misconception the old man had, they had began to throw blows at him, kicking and slapping him at the same time.Lucas considered their action to be inconsiderate, i

“He used to be a student at the school.” The words of Mr. Shaw couldn't stop playing in her head. “I was able to go into the city. According to the people I found, he used to be a student at one Belmont Academy.” The old man explained to Emily. At first, when he had come into the house with the good news of having found the man in the picture and knowing his location, Emily felt her heart gladden. It was two days gone in her new place, and Emily still couldn't remember who she was or where she came from. All she had with her was her name which sometimes she questions if it might truly be her name. And also the picture which she had given to Mr. Shaw to help her find the truth behind it. Ever since the date she found the picture, she took it upon herself to search every nook and cranny of the bag said to belong to her, with the intention of finding anything else that could tell her who she truly was. Unfortunately, there was nothing. It was just a bunch of make up kit, the name tag, and the picture. However, what Emily was truly focused on at the moment was finding out who the man in the picture was. She believed that if she found out who he truly was, it could be a lead to her real identity. Now, she was home alone like the previous days. Where did you also go to find her, Lucas?” Blake asked, hoping he would still get a response from him because definitely, he was curious.“When you all were asleep, foolishly believing that she is actually gone for good.” Lucas answered, a sting of betrayal playing in his voice. “Lucas, you're endangering your life.” Blake said, concern glaring in his voice.“I don't care if I had to do that. “Is he still locked up in his room?” Mr. Belcraft asked Blake the moment he walked in. Blake let out a deep sigh firstly before he could respond.“I'm just coming in. When she thought deeper about the bold step she had taken towards an unknown destination, she pushed aside the fear that clunged onto her. After all, she couldn't remember who she was. There was a possibility her new journey could make it all happen. The clattering sound she had heard caused her to open her eyes, and sit on the bed. "Oh, God." She yawned deeply. For a minute, she had forgotten that she was now in the home of her saviors, the old woman and her husband. After she had pleaded with her to let her leave with them, the old woman had thought of it wise to inform her husband. Clearly, Emily didn't object to it. All she did was pray inwardly that the old man was going to accept it. And he did. While they took it upon themselves t

She had thought that the smell of drugs, syringe, and possible vomit had only conjured in her dream. However, she was all wrong when she opened up her eyes. Her first sight was the bulb producing light which was on, and the rolling fan. She stayed put for a while as she tried hard to realize where she was. Sadly, the harder she tried, the more pain she felt. The young lady closed her eyes shut again. This was in a bid to calm her hurting head, and also see if she could get anything. When she did it for the longest time she could remember, and nothing happened, she opened back her eyes. It was at that time she used the opportunity to look around where she was. Definitely, she had not been wrong when the smell told her she could be in a hospital. Even if her memory had a bit of lagging behind, she could as well recognize what an hospital looked like. But, she still couldn't think past the question she had. Why was she in a hospital? She thought. Despite the struggles, she finally
