The reunion was in full swing, but there was one person who seemed to draw attention everywhere he went: Peter Park. Jack Sullivan’s old class monitor and, as always, a master of false charm.

Jack had seen him coming a mile away.

Peter's overly pressed suit and gleaming shoes, which he probably spent hours polishing, were enough of a giveaway.

The man was always about appearances, and everyone in school knew it.

What they didn’t know was that Peter had a knack for using people to climb the ladder—whether it was the class funds or his questionable promotions at Darkeis Winery.

Jack had seen him take advantage of anyone he could, and now, here he was, acting like the most important person at the reunion.

“Jack Sullivan!” Peter’s voice rang out from across the room, his overly loud greeting drawing a few curious glances from the crowd.

He walked over, his posture perfect, and his smile that sickly sweet “I’m so great” grin plastered on his face. “It’s been years, hasn’t it?”

AS he watched Peter,The man hadn’t changed—he was still using people, still putting on that fake charm. The same man who misused class funds back in high school and tried to force Xavier into paying more money for the school event. It was clear to Jack that Peter had only gotten where he was by being shameless.Peter, however, wasn’t looking at Jack. His eyes were focused on Lisa. He had always thought she was out of Jack’s league, and now that they were married, he had no intention of letting her stay with him. Peter thought Jack was a fool, too stupid to realize that Lisa would eventually get bored of him. In his mind, he had every chance to pull Lisa away from Jack."Lisa, why don’t you come sit with me?" Peter's voice was smooth, his smile all but oozing insincerity. He motioned to the seat next to him, a couple of rows away from Jack. "I’ve got some medicine and hot water. You must be tired from all the excitement."Lisa immediately stiffened. She didn’t even have to think twice

As the train began to rumble along the tracks, Peter continued his failed attempts to pull Lisa Johnson away from Jack. He couldn’t seem to understand why she wasn’t interested in him, even when he tried to charm her with offers of medicine and hot water. Lisa was having none of it, holding onto Jack firmly, making it clear where her loyalty lay.“I can’t believe he’s still pulling this crap,” Sarah muttered, shooting Peter a look of disdain. “He really thinks he’s going to take Lisa away from Jack? Ridiculous.”Sarah, who had been a good friend to Lisa back in high school, had always disliked Peter’s attitude, and today was no different. She stood up for her friend, stepping forward with a stern look. “Peter, respect the fact that Lisa is married. She doesn’t want you.”Peter smirked, pretending to be polite but clearly mocking Sarah. “Oh, come on, Sarah. Don’t be so uptight. It’s just a friendly offer. Surely Jack wouldn’t mind—he knows I’m just trying to help Lisa out.”Jack, who h

After the awkward room assignments, the group was trying to make the best of their situation. The elegant architecture and serene surroundings were impressive, but for Xavier, the unfairness of the situation weighed heavily on him. He had always been the hardworking one, a chef, yet here he was, being treated like less than everyone else.“You really think you deserve one of the suites, Xavier?” Peter Park sneered, standing with his arms crossed as he looked down at the frustrated chef. His smug expression made Xavier’s blood boil. “You’re just a cook, nothing more. A cook doesn’t get a fancy room like the rest of them.”Xavier’s face flushed with anger. He wasn’t about to back down. “I’m a damn good chef, Peter. I deserve more than this. You know that.”Peter scoffed, dismissing Xavier’s protest with a wave of his hand. “Oh please, don’t start with that.” His tone was mocking, dripping with arrogance. “You’re lucky you even get to stay here. I’m the vice president of Darkeis Winery,

Back in the lobby, Peter was acting as if nothing was wrong, still trying to play the part of the gracious host. He was delighting in the discomfort of others, especially Jack.He had probably expected them to be furious by now, begging for a better room, and he was ready to make them grovel. But Jack, ever calm, walked over to Peter without hesitation. “Peter, we’re switching rooms. Now.” His tone left no room for argument.Peter looked up, feigning surprise. “Oh? What’s wrong with your room?”“You know exactly what’s wrong with it.” Jack’s voice was low and controlled, but the anger was clear beneath the surface.“This isn’t a room, Peter. This is a warehouse. You’ve gone too far this time.”Peter just smiled, his fake charm still intact.“You really are a simpleton, Jack. You don’t understand the power of position.” His voice dripped with condescension.“You and your wife can stay where you are, or I can help Lisa. But if you think you’re going to walk all over me—think again.”Lis

Peter Park was fuming. His plan to humiliate Jack Sullivan and Lisa Johnson had backfired spectacularly. The warehouse—a dirty, neglected space—was supposed to be the ultimate punishment for Jack’s boldness. He expected them to suffer in the awful conditions and come crawling back to him for help. Lisa would surely beg him to fix the situation, wouldn’t she?But instead, Jack had walked confidently into the luxurious lakeside villa, the most exclusive and expensive accommodation on the property. The same villa that was usually reserved for Boss Raymond himself. The audacity.Peter’s jaw tightened as he watched them leave the villa. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Had Jack actually managed to break into the place? That was the only explanation. He couldn't fathom how Jack could have had access to a place meant only for the owner of Darkeis Winery. He was seething with anger, but he couldn’t just stand there. His pride wouldn’t let him. So, he sent Lisa Johnson a message, hoping to stir u

The class reunion banquet was in full swing at the Darkeis Winery, with the lavish setting and rich food creating an atmosphere that seemed almost too perfect. Xavier, the chef at the winery, had worked tirelessly preparing the meals for the night. As he walked around the large banquet hall, placing plates of gourmet dishes in front of their old classmates, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in his work."Xavier, this food is amazing!" Jack Sullivan called out from the table, a plate of freshly prepared dishes in front of him. He smiled at his old friend, clearly impressed. “You should be the general manager of this place, not just the cook.”Xavier grinned, his face lighting up at the compliment. He was always quiet and humble about his skills, but it felt good to hear Jack’s praise. He chuckled, shaking his head. “I don’t think I could handle being the general manager, Jack. It’s a lot more than just cooking.”The group of classmates around them laughed, the mood light and c

Xavier, who had been standing off to the side, couldn’t take it anymore. He stood up, glaring at Peter. “You’ve got no right to talk to Jack like that. He’s not some thief, and you know it!” Xavier’s voice boomed, the anger clear in his tone.Peter’s eyes narrowed, and his lips curled into a snarl. “Oh, so you’re going to defend him now, Xavier? Just a cook at the winery, trying to play hero?” Peter scoffed. “Maybe I should fire you for siding with a criminal.”Xavier’s jaw tightened. “You’re ridiculous, Peter.” He didn’t back down, even though he knew Peter could make his life difficult at work. But Peter didn’t care—he was so consumed by his desire to tear Jack down that he completely lost sight of reason.“Fine! You’re fired, Xavier.” Peter’s voice rang out with cruel finality. "I’ll have your apron and your job taken from you first thing tomorrow."The room went silent. Xavier had always been a loyal worker at the winery, and hearing Peter's words was like a slap to the face. The

The mood at the Darkeis Winery had turned tense and uncertain. After Peter Park’s humiliating accusations and Jack Sullivan’s calm dismissal of them, the group was left to pick up the pieces. However, the night was far from over. Sarah—who had been sitting quietly, watching the chaos unfold—was growing more and more concerned. She could feel the pressure mounting, and Peter’s relentless pursuit of revenge was starting to push things too far.“I have to do something, Jack,” Sarah said softly to Lisa Johnson, her eyes darting around nervously. “This isn’t going to end well if we let it go on like this.” She reached for her phone and quickly dialed Rolex, her boyfriend, who was from a powerful family with connections to the owner’s son, Raymond. Sarah had known that Rolex’s influence could help in situations like this.“Rolex, you need to come to the winery right now.” Sarah said, her voice low and urgent. “Peter’s making things worse, and we need your help.”Rolex’s voice on the other e

A lot of people. Probably armed. Maybe dangerous.”Jack didn’t break stride. “So?”“So… maybe we should slow down? I mean, this place has a reputation. Nine Scorpion Cave isn’t called that for the landscaping.”Jack smirked. “Relax. If we run into trouble, I’ll use you as bait.”Nie nearly tripped. “W-what?!”“Calm down,” Jack said lazily. “You’d die too fast to make good bait anyway.”Ashley, walking a few steps behind them, frowned. That’s what we’re calling him now? Doesn’t look like family. Looks like the guy who sleeps behind gas stations.”Jack turned to him slowly. “Still talking? I thought we fixed that.”The students chuckled, and Brian’s ears turned red. His chest puffed up like a blowfish.“I don’t know who you think you are,” Brian snapped, “but this area ahead? It’s blocked. Government access only. No one goes through without permission.”Jack didn’t even blink. He turned and kept walking, motioning to Matthew. “Let’s go.”Matthew gave Brian a half-smile as he limped after Jack. “Thanks for the weather report.”Brian's face twisted in disbelief. “Hey! I need protection. Someone who can handle whatever’s in that cave.”He gave her a look. “Honey, I got arthritis, three broken ribs, and a spine that clicks when I sneeze. You think I’m hiking into poison cave central?”“Then give me someone. Recommend someone.”Frank scratched his grizzled chin. “There’s one. James Logan. Senior disciple of Master Wilson. Older martial brother of the guy Jack Sullivan turned into roadkill last month.”Charlotte blinked. “He’s alive?”Frank grinned. “Back in the States. Quiet. Waiting for his chance to kill Sullivan. That smell on you—what is it? Start talking before I turn the other side of you into Swiss cheese.”Matthew swallowed hard. “It’s from Scorpion Hollow… in Pine Ridge. I went there two weeks ago with Victor Lawrence. We were looking for some rare creatures.”Jack’s eyes narrowed. “Scorpion Hollow? You telling me you stepped into that death trap?”“Not willingly!” Matthew coughed. “Victor said we’d find something useful. There were mutated scorpions, the size of dogs—vicious. Nearly everyone got wiped out. I… I got bit.”Jack leaned in, now genuinely intrigued. Scorpion Hollow... that place was just a l

As the music resumed at the wedding, the mood had shifted dramatically. Where once whispers of doubt surrounded Jack Sullivan, now every step he took was met with hushed reverence. The most feared man in Carson City had just made an example out of the Lawrences—and everyone was watching.“Mr. Sullivan, may I pour you another glass?” a trembling waiter asked, bowing so low his forehead nearly touched the table.“No need,” Jack said coolly. “I’ve already spilled enough tonight.”Laughter rippled across the room—nervous, forced, but there.Heather Reed, still dressed in her bridesmaid gown, made her way over to David Smith. Her smile was suddenly sweet, her eyes glistening with what she hoped looked like regret.“David…” she purred, placing a hand gently on his arm. “About earlier… I didn’t mean to say all those things.
