Later that day, Greg knocked softly on his grandfather's door. He glanced down both sides of the hall cautiously, ensuring no one was nearby, before slipping inside and gently closing the door behind him.

Russell was reclining on his bed, appearing relaxed but alert. The two shared a brief, knowing look before breaking into a short, stifled laugh.

"My parents are confused," Greg began, leaning against the door. "I know they're dying to know what negotiation you had with Gabriel."

Russell chuckled softly, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "Let them stay confused. It’s better this way. If they’re busy being puzzled, they won’t have time to think about thwarting or interfering in my plans."
