Andrew and Isabella peeked into each other's faces for a while, and the silence was broken when Andrew sighed and asked, "What are you up to, Isabella?"

"None of your business, Andrew. Just be quiet and paddle your own canoe."

"Jackson is my friend, and that made him my business. Tell me what you are up to, or I will tell Dad about this."

"Oh, okay," Isabella inhaled louder, smiled and said, "I'm helping Simpson to see how truthful Andrew is."

"I don't get what you are saying."

"Simpson called me and informed me of her feelings for him, so I told her to wait and let me put him to the test."

"You mean you don't have any feelings for him?"

"Not at all. As a friend, yes. But not as a lover. I want to be sure he is not after Simpson's wealth."

Geez! You are ridiculous, Isabella," Andrew said with a face filled with awe. He shook his head sideways, inhaled louder and let out, "I hope he has passed the test, and is now free to enjoy his newfound love."
