CROSSING THE LINES

The air in the elevator turned glacial, and cold sweat dripped down Hera's face. She struggled to remember how the situation suddenly deteriorated to that extent. Kaiser looked up at Alex in horror, his breath catching in his throat.

“Dad, don't get angry. They will get hurt.” Ariella whispered in panic taking Alex's arm.

“Shut up! You're the origin of all this mess. If you didn't start yapping nonsense, I wouldn't have heard so much disgusting words.” Alex growled, knocking hey hand away.

Ariella yelped, acting like a cold catalyst on Alex. His anger Immediately receded like the tide, and he quickly pulled Ariella away from the grasp of Kaiser who had caught her when she fell. The elevator opened at that moment, and Alex tightened his hold on Ariella.

“Let's go home.” Alex whispered, dragging her out of the elevator.
