Alex frowned thoughtfully, trying to recall if any of the Winthrop family members had that kind of voice. He shook his head with a sigh, and gave up on trying to analyze the voice. “I don't recall any of them having that kind of voice. The voice of that person is hermaphroditic. It doesn't seem to belong to a particular gender. It seems like a woman's voice at some pitches, and like a man's voice on a different pitch. I can't tell if our target is a man or woman from this voice alone, talk more of deciphering the identity.” Alex whispered, sitting on an empty sofa. “Do you know of any gay person in the Winthrop family? He or she could be gay to have that kind of transgender streak. That person is definitely the X factor we're looking for to make the pieces of the puzzle fit.” Aridan chipped in, looking up from his workstation. Alex shook his head again. “None that I know of. Most of them are promiscuous but they do it with the opposite sex. Besides, I left there decades ago, so I
Alex sighed and weighed the options before him. “During the course of the investigation, are you confident that you didn't leave a trace? Or did they know that their hideout had been bursted?” “I'm not sure. However, one of the guards looked really suspicious as he walked around the area where we hid.” Ikaris muttered, looking at the floor. “This can only mean that their guard is high right now, I need to go alone. I can't leave it till tomorrow either, they might finish off the kidnapped victims if they suspect that we will prepare a raid against them. What's the time on your computer screen?” Alex asked, turning to Aridan. “It's fifteen minutes past three a.m.” Aridan announced. “Get the reconnaissance and other preparations ready. I will hit in immediately. Hopefully, I will return before six.” Alex whispered and turned around, quickly rushing to his room to get himself ready for the task ahead. The moment he entered his room, he moved straight to his dressing room and donned
Alex scoffed and looked at the people in the room. “Apart from you guys, how many people knew that I was about to leave?” Alex asked coldly, staring daggers at them. “No one else. Shadow and his men left in a haste, so they didn't have the time for words. They couldn't have known you wanted to go somewhere.” Aridan whispered, looking at the rest. “So the problem is right inside this room? Okay, till I return. I treat all my subordinates as the sons and friends they are. But I don't take betrayals lightly. It better not be a rat amongst us. It better be them merely taking precautions, because I will deal so ruthlessly with the person. Just like I loved you all with all my heart, I can also hate with all of my heart. It better not be a rat.” Alex growled, making everyone shiver. He turned around and left, with Aridan hot on his heels. “Aridan, go back. This mission won't be funny.” Alex said without looking back but Aridan continued to follow him. “That's the more reason I should
Alex's eyes darted around like that of a rat, and he decided to teleport to the area he heard the voices of kids. However, he realized that there were specialized space locks targeting people of his cultivation level yet again. The weapons and traps he had been meeting were carefully tailored for people of the god and demi god realm. He almost regretted not taking Aridan's offer of having him break in instead. If Aridan had been the one in his place, the specialized traps wouldn't have caught a whiff of him. Alex did a quick math and dashed to a corner, bursting out into a different area from where he had intended to go. A masked man appeared in his former location alongside two women merely five seconds after Alex left. “He's not here, did he leave?” One of the women muttered. “Impossible, he doesn't give up that easily. If he doesn't find the things he came for, you can be sure as hell that he isn't leaving here. He's as tenacious as a wild horse.” The man whispered coldly, qui
Alex's hairs immediately stood on end and he looked behind him. Crystal and ice arrows filled with poison were heading straight for him, from all corners of the laboratory. Alex quickly placed one hand behind him, and the other before him, and was immediately covered with a double layer of glass and fire protection. “Back to sender!” Alex muttered, making some of the arrows return back to their initial positions in the wall and also to the one in the lab coat. The person quickly made a wand materialize from thin air, and waved it around, trying to deflect the arrows heading for him. Alex secretly sent more to him and he managed to deflect three, and missed one which exactly looked like the ice crystals he sent to Alex. He had thought it was one of his own which was meant to be deflected by his wand, not realizing it was among the ones sent by Alex. He vomited blood and quickly wiped his lips looking at the masked Alex in shock. “I already warned you and that boss of yours to sto
Alex set a fifteen minutes timer and began to wrack his brain to see if any of his weapons were conditioned to leave an imprint on the wall. His mind rushed to his Atlas spear and he quickly sent it towards the wall at full blast. However, the Atlas spear bounced back like a tennis ball, followed by an explosion which made Alex's heart jump. It seemed as if any attempt to break free will make the area collapse. The floor around Alex began to sink while the walls remained solid and immovable. The fumes were still increasing in density, till the room totally got engulfed in it. One can't even see an inch away from their nose, due to how thick the poison fumes in the room was. They carefully thought out this demonic trap, and Alex fell into it once again because he was predictable. They knew he would never be able to ignore the kidnapped people in distress, and would immediately come running over. So they prepared a wonderful gift for him, planning to give him a dreadful death and burial
The woman laughed coldly.“I don't need a reason to kill a pesky bug.” She growled and immediately rushed towards Alex.It was bad enough when he was just facing the twenty one people wearing black cloaks which covered even their faces. And now, he also had to face the mad female godess and her six assistants. The one in white lab coat was still nowhere to be seen. For all Alex knows, he or she could be hiding around waiting for the decisive moment to strike a fatal blow and help his counterparts make a quick work of Alex.Alex Immediately smelt a rat the moment he noticed the placement of their team. The female godess had six team members, which made them seven, a perfect number for laying down a powerful formation. While the men in black cloak were twenty one, the perfect number for setting up the ‘kill the god evil devouring formation'. Twenty one was perfect for a slaughtering formation, while seven was perfect for other formations which includes amplification formation to help an
“Unambitious fool? I will rather keep the unambitious title than nurse dead ambitions like that of your little group.” Alex smirked and slashed out three arcs of the Atlas spear weapon which he was using, sending blasts of energy to his assailants.Surprisingly, the mad female godess easily deflected the blow, before sending millions of dangerous sword shadows towards him. A golden shield appeared in Alex's left hand as he simultaneously slashed out numerous times with his Atlas spear in just a second. The moment the sword shadows arrived before him, the shield which he was holding changed shape and totally covered him, same time as he hurriedly fell to his knees. The shield morphed into something reminiscent of a tortoise's shell, absorbing all the sword shadows. Another batch of attack rained down on Alex as they tried to breach the shield's defense. However, rather than totally absorb the attack, the shield amplified the attack and reflected it back to the sender. Screams of shock
