UNEXPECTED GIFT

Alex frowned and looked up at her, noticing her distress.

“What's wrong with you? Why are you agitated?” Alex asked, getting up to face her.

Eleanor's eyes darted to the file, making him frown.

“Your family reached out to me, hoping to placate my anger. So they're offering you three subsidiaries. It was one initially, but after negotiating with your grandpa, he increased it to three. So, I was asking you to go through the terms of the agreement and see if there's anything you don't like, or a clause you would like to remove.” Alex whispered, making her sigh in relief.

“What did you think the files contained?” Alex asked, feeling amused.

“Divorce requests?” Eleanor answered, looking at him resentfully.

“Our marriage wasn't registered in court. Where will the divorce come from? Besides, you didn't do anything to me, nor did we quarrel recently. Why would I want to throw the love of my life out of our house?” Alex whispered, cupping her cheeks.
