Chapter 6

Maximus could be seen seated inside an enclosed glass cubicle typing furiously on the keyboard of a desktop computer. He was so concentrated on whatever he was doing that he became oblivious of those around him.

“Why can't I break down the firewall of the Orlan family security system?” Maximus queried. He had made the decision of robbing a first tier family just as the system tasked him to do, and he had chosen the Orlan family clan, why? Because Ronald Orlan has been a very big bully and jerk, and now Maximus wants revenge, and guess what? He's getting it legally... well by the system means that it.

“This is one of the times I wish I am a tech ability user or I have one at my disposal. fuck this crazy shit!” he cursed again. He's actually been trying to hack into the Orlan family clan's security system for almost four hours with zero luck.

“Alright, inputting the bypass authorization code here, here and here. I hope this works this time.” Maximus prayed to whatever god was out there watching him.

Ding! The computer made a sound which signified success. Maximus almost jumped up in joy, after four long hours of tireless work he's finally succeeded, but the next minute his countenance fell as he watched the hacked CCTV feeds of the Orlan family.

“Damn! There's over a hundred Master-rank guards in every corner of the mansion, three grandmaster-rank security chiefs, worse of all is that Ronald's father is a second stage saint while the patriarch of the family is a fourth stage saint. THIS IS A FUCKEN SUICIDE MISSION!!” Maximus pulled at his hair. In his current level now, any of those Master-rank guards can just crush him with a flicker of their finger, then what about the grandmasters and the saints in there?.

“I should just give up on this and live a peaceful life. I already have two awesome skills. No point in being greedy.” Maximus said to himself but it seems the deities and the system had a different plan for him.

«Ding!

Side quest: Rob the Orlan family clan of all their wealth and prove your dedication of being powerful to the Lykoi.

Reward: Blessing of the Lykoi, one hundred system coins.

Difficulty Level: Advanced.

Time limit: forty eight hours.

Penalty for failure: System is taken from host permanently.» the golden letters appeared in front him while the metallic high pitch female voice of the system read out the words to him.

Maximus totally spaced out for a complete minute before his left eye started twitching again.

“YOU GOTTA BE FUCKEN KIDDING ME!!?” Maximus roared in annoyance while his co-workers turned their heads to his direction. Some shook their heads out of pity thinking he's angry due to losing his inheritance, some looked at him with contempt and gloated over his misfortune, but none of these even scratched the surface of Maximus' current situation. Maximus clenched his fists and tried to reel in his anger to avoid unwanted attention. Right now he had no choice but to go ahead with the mission, even though getting caught in there meant death, he still had to try.

“I have 0.001% chance of success, I will take the odds. I will go there tonight, I can't waste time or I might lose the system.” Maximus said to himself, but what about losing his life? Well someone once said 'there is no gain without pain, no reward without risks', and right now Maximus was taking the biggest risk of his life.

«Ding! System advises host to use the system coins to raise his stats.» the system's voice broke Maximus' lane of thought.

“Huh!? It's possible?” Maximus asked.

«Very possible. With system coins host can raise his stats to higher levels.» the system replied.

“Okay, show me my status window, just my stats this time.” said Maximus.

«Ding!

Host: Maximus Akkris Gayle

Race: Human

Status: All for one

Strength: 11

Agility: 12

Stamina: 12

Perception: 15»

Hmm! Maximus pondered on which of his stat to raise first, he knew he didn't have enough system coins to raise them all to satisfying level, so he needed to prioritize on those that will be beneficial to his mission for tonight.

“System, add five points to perception, four points to agility and two points to stamina.” Maximus said. His reason was simple, with perception he could be aware of any ambush, and with agility his speed of movement will increase, as for stamina? He needed endurance. He left out strength because the martial arts and weapons mastery skill increases his strength stat by fifteen points, making him comparable to a beginner Master-rank fighter.

«Ding!

Host: Maximus Akkris Gayle

Race: Human

Status: All for one

Strength: 11

Agility: 16

Stamina: 14

Perception: 20» the system showed him his updated stat but Maximus didn't need as he could feel that his awareness had increased, he could perceive even the smallest details he missed about the office, he could also feel his body was lighter than before.

“This is great. Now all I have to do is think of the appearance I will morph into to hide my identity for this mission.”

Late at night, a few kilometers away from the Gayle Royalty building stood a gigantic mansion with sentry guards patrolling the entrance of the mansion. A tall muscular figure dressed in all black with a black facemask could be seen hiding atop a tree near this mansion. The figure leaped from the tree to the ground and dashed towards one of the guards, before the guard could sense the danger behind him, the figure struck him by the side of his neck and the guard went limp, held by the black clad figure the guard was gently lowered on the ground without making any sound. The figure bolted inside the mansion, sticking close to the wall and doing his possible best to avoid the guards, but also knocking out most of the unlucky guards without raising any alarm. The figure made his way to the underground basement as if he already knows his way around the house and what was hidden in the basement.

In front of the black clothed figure was a massive vault.

“Alright, just as I watched in the CCTV feed and memorized, the code to unlock this vault is: five five two five nine.” the figure spoke to himself as it pressed on the the panel of the vault, his voice sounded a bit rusty. The vault opened and golden light shone from inside the vault.

“Holy shit!!!” the figure exclaimed as the vault was filled to the brim with nothing but gold coins, jewelries, beautiful crafted rings and scrolls.

“These are space rings, this fits perfectly with my plan as I hoped they will be unowned space rings in the vault. Now I can haul away everything here without breaking a sweat.” the figure said as he picked a dozen beautiful rings. Willing the rings the function, the massive wealth in the vault began to disappear bit by bit.

It took half an hour to move all the wealth in the vault into the rings, and the moment this feat was accomplished, the alarm blared and the vault began to close. The figure dashed out from the vault and made his way out of the basement.

“It took them almost an hour to regain consciousness. This only makes the job harder. I just have to avoid them at all cost.” the figure said as he made his way towards the back door of the mansion which he had come from.

Swoosh! A massive wind blade whoosh past the black figure, if the figure hadn't dodged in time, he would have been sliced into countless pieces.

“Whoever you are, you made a big mistake of infiltrating this mansion. Stand still so I can kill you.” a brawny bald haired man said to the figure.

“Seems my luck is bad, who knew that one of the security chiefs was hiding here.” said the black figure in his rusty voice.

“You know who I am? Good, then it makes things easier, you can either surrender now or die.” said the bald haired man.

“How about a third option?” the figure enquired.

“And what is that?” the bald haired man asked with a smile as he prepared another massive wave of wind blades.

“I escape.” the black figure said and dashed towards the grandmaster-rank security chief who was not expecting such an outcome. The black figure dodged an incoming wind blade, side stepped to dodge a punch from the grandmaster, then punched the man on the neck, the man staggered which gave the the black figure a leeway to escape. The figure wasn't stupid to think he could defeat a grandmaster, he landed that punch based on luck and the fact his opponent underestimated him, but if it comes to a full on clash, he will be cut into mince.

*

Few kilometers away from the Orlan mansion, a figure could be seen clothed in black. The man's body began to shrink and his burly muscles contracted, in a few minutes the big muscular man was gone, replaced by a lean youth with black hair and blue eyes: Maximus.

«Ding! Congratulations to host on successfully completing the task.»

«Ding! Congratulations to host on successfully unlocking the skill of 'L'. The blessings of the golden Lykoi, Egyptian golden cat of fortune. Host can now exchange system coins for human physical coins.»

«Ding! Congratulations to host as host has now been rewarded with one hundred system coins upon completion of task. An additional fifty system coins has been awarded to host for completing the task half the time limit.»

«Ding! Martial arts and weapons mastery skill has been raised to Lv2 due to host's continual and proficiency in the skill.»

Maximus couldn't be more happier as not only had the system awarded him with skills and system coins, but he was now currently in possession of more than forty million gold coins dramus plus immense amount of jewelries that will yield forth more wealth when appraised and sold.

“I'M RICH!!!!”
