Chapter 3 - God’s Coin?

Grandpa's face immediately changed to become more intense so that the atmosphere of the tavern became gripping. Richard, who was initially emotional until he clenched his hands and wanted to hit the middle - aged man immediately—he seemed to shrink like an oxygen - deficient balloon.

"You must live with confidence. All this time you've been living your head down like you don't have a collarbone. How can you remove the flesh-blooded loser's aura if you keep quiet when you're being treated unfairly."

Richard silenced a thousand words with glazed eyes. His words seem to describe a little life story that he's been living all along. Richard's feelings were so self - centered that he could live on the wrong path.

"You'll only be a burden to your family if you live like this. Don't complain so much, in this world you're not the only one who lives in pain. Try thinking about going back to your life, no one knows what the future will be like if you don't change it from now on."

Taken in a strong current in a murky river. However Richard tried to ask for help, no one helped him. He's just a loser who keeps making his wife and son suffer. Don't know yourself and keep complaining about his life.

Richard recognized the fact that he had never worked so hard. Even he doesn't understand why it's hard to work. Looking at the empty bowl in front of him reflects his life that is just like a used bowl.

Looking back on the past, at 17 years of age, Richard was full of insubordination because he wanted to find his identity. However, he is lost in the path he chose and doesn't know the meaning of a true identity search. He's just a spoiled brat running away from home. Throw away all the comfortable facilities his parents gave him.

After his parents died in an accident, his life changed 180 degrees. The way he lived along with anger, regret, and ignorance led him to his current version of himself.

"The past cannot change. But regret will always remain until the end of your life. You don't want to go back to regret your future, do you? . Then you have to change it now …,"

Last sentence written on Richard's parents' second will.

"What you said was true. I never once worked hard. Richard said—his tears are dripping—crying over an empty ramen bowl.

It's been raining for a long time. Remains of the water are still reminiscent of the black asphalt road. Through the road to the house, quiet and cold. A black plastic bag that Richard had in his left hand and there was a pretty big bottle in that black plastic.

Didn't forget Richard brought two bowls of ramen given for free by Grandpa who a while ago lectured him like a priest. Walking in wet shoes. Every foot in the step, the boots leave a trace of the squeaky sound.

Richard's step suddenly stopped when his right hand was like touching something in a coat he took out of a trash can. It feels like it's touching a flat, round metal. Without thinking how long Richard took that thing out of his pocket.

"What is this? Coin?"

One of Richard's eyebrows was raised when he saw a worn gold coin in his hand. The gold coin made Richard wonder. The shape of the coin looks a little strange, unlike most currency coins.

Richard lifted the coin closer—in front of his face. Looking very carefully and curiously at the unique shape of the coin. There's a detailed world engraving. In the middle of the coin it's hollowed out, like ancient currencies. It felt quite heavy when Richard tried to weigh it.

"What if it's gold?"

Richard guessed with little hope if he had actually found a coin-shaped metal gold. Make sure this coin is gold or not he has to go to the jewelry store. But unfortunately the time is past midnight and there will be no jewelry stores still open.

Richard didn't want anyone to see the coin. Richard rushed to put the gold coin back in his pocket and continued on until it reached home safely.

When Richard arrived in front of the house, he was confused because his house lights were not on. Like there's no life in it. His left hand tried to open the door to make sure he was mistaken.

A light in front of the door that automatically turns on when someone is standing in front of the door. Richard was silent when he watched with his own two eyes if the middle room of his house looked so messy. Prejudice of bad things may have happened to his wife and child, Richard rushed inside to see the fate of his wife and child.

"Sarah!! Naomi!! Where are you!! Sarah!!"

Richard didn't stop calling his wife to his room, all the house stuff. Scattered on the floor like a house that had just been robbed. There is one thing that makes Richard still grateful because he doesn't see a drop of blood in all parts of the house which means most likely his wife and child are still in good condition.

"Sarah!!"

Quiet for a few seconds when he realized that there was no sign of his wife and child. Even Richard saw that the wardrobe looked empty. His body instantly became limp. He really did not understand what was really going on with his family. They just disappeared.

"What the hell is going on?"

The poor man tried to hold back his tears, hoping that his family was alive and well. Both eyes saw a table lamp showing a piece of paper on the top—with a feeling of doubt Richard began to approach the small table next to the bed.

[A DIVORCE DOCUMENT]

Like being struck by lightning to stop his heart from throbbing in a while. Richard still can't understand the situation and the current chaos. After he was nearly killed by loan sharks—wanting to have dinner with ramen he could get for free, but instead he saw a divorce letter signed by his wife, Sarah.

Richard frantically tried to contact Sarah. She needed a direct explanation of the divorce papers Sarah had given her. But only the operator's voice said Sarah's number couldn't be reached.

"Why can't she be reached, damn it!"

Richard tried to calm himself down before his emotions got the hang of it. Sarah wouldn't have possibly done this to him. She's not the woman who left without saying anything. He's just worried about his wife and child's current condition. Richard was worried that the loan sharks had caused his house to fall apart and that they were probably doing something to Sarah and Naomi.

But Richard saw a letter written directly by Sarah that said,

[ "Don't worry about us. I'm going home to my uncle's. Leave Naomi alone. She hates you so much right now. Meet him when he's calm. I'm sorry, I can't keep our family. I want to protect Naomi. - Sarah-]

Suddenly Richard's tears fell. The grown man cried like a five-year-old boy who lost his world. The place that has kept him from working so hard has disappeared.
