Just as Charles stood up from the couch, a grenade blasted through his room’s door, almost giving him a heart attack. Soon, a couple of men wielding machine guns rushed into the room.

“Whoever is in here, raise your fucking hands up where we can see, or we’re going to put our pretty fucking bullets in your ugly face!” the men warned as they looked for souls, and they noticed a man standing with his hands raised high. “Cream-colored suit and blonde hair. He matches the description.” One of them immediately turned and shot the second guy in the head and laughed, “I’ll get the whole reward for bringing you to Boss Bram!” He marched over to Charles, viciously swiped the gun and struck the back of Charles’ head, thinking it would knock him out of his senses.

Charles, however, didn’t even flinch. He slowly turned his head, revealing his scary-long fangs and burning red-hot coals that were his pupils. Shock and terror took over the man’s face, and his body froze in fear. Before he could scr

By the time the police reached the rooftop, they found not a single person standing there. And the only person they found alive was Sofia, whose wound was already dressed before they got there. It wasn’t Charles who did it as he was fighting himself at some place else until dawn. Moreover, the police couldn’t find a single footage of the cameras anywhere in the hotel. Someone had clearly been to the security room and destroyed the video footage, so the police felt at a loss because they had no clue what exactly happened on the rooftop. Over 430 people staying at the hotel died that night. Everyone from the film crew except Reena, Sofia, Narika, Selena and her bodyguards died. Roger had managed to hide in a bathroom for the entire night, so he also managed to survive. It was obvious that Bram Bones had attacked the hotel, but since there was no video footage, the news channel telecasted that it was a terrorist attack. The reason was simple. They didn’t want to piss off Bram’s father

“Mr. Andres, how can you be so shameless? Why do you go out with someone else’s wife?” Carlos posed this question the very same day he had seen Andres and Sofia enter the mansion, holding each other’s hands. Of course, he didn’t ask this question when Sofia was around, but he never expected Andres would react the way he did. “Who are you calling shameless?” Andres slapped Carlos so hard, he bled from his ear. Carlos wasn’t a coward, but he was just left in shock by the way Andres reacted. Moreover, he was used to being treated poorly by his in-laws, so maybe that was also part of the reason he couldn’t react after that. “If I’m shameless, then are you saying your wife is also shameless? Do you want me to tell her that?” Andres kept taunting and mocking Carlos, telling him that Sofia considered Carlos as the biggest mistake of not only her life but also of the Myers’ family. Andres didn’t waste much of his time for Carlos, but every time he did, he was very good at demoralizing him a

After coming home, Gregory came straight to Sofia’s room to check how she was doing. Sofia was asking a surgeon on mobile if covering up her scar was possible, and the surgeon said yes, so she felt greatly relieved. Only after ending the call, she noticed that her father was in the room. “Dad! When did you get here?” “Just now…” he sat down on the bed. “Let me see the wound.” She raised her shirt a little and showed the wounded spot, which was no longer bandaged. “I was once shot in an alley,” Gregory said, startling her. “You were what?” “Even your mother doesn’t know of it because it didn’t leave any scar, so don’t stress over your wound too much.” “M-Mm.” Gregory touched her cheek. “I’m glad you’re safe, but don’t let this incident keep you down for weeks.” “I’m planning to attend shooting for a new film with a simple role, dad, but I was wondering how the public will think. I mean, many crew members died during the trip, so… should I perhaps wait a little longer?” Gregory

It had been three days, but there was no call from Sofia, and Charles was feeling all anxious. Why didn’t she call? Was she still recovering? Or Did she get attracted to another rich man? Did she not find him interesting? A lot of things ran through his mind. It could be any reason. If ‘Charles’ didn’t work, Carlos could order a fresh mask and take on a new identity, but it would require him to build the relationship again, and he didn’t want that. “Should I give her a call? It’d be good if I ask how her health is and if she’s recovering well, but Sofia’s brain doesn’t work like a normal woman’s. She doesn’t care about all those things as long as I do what she wants the next time we meet. She definitely learned that habit from her mother, I’m sure.” After some thinking, he recorded a voice message and sent it to Sofia’s mail. “When she checks her mails, she’ll be forced to act.” Charles grinned. His phone rang. It was a call from Laurel. “What does she want now?” Charles shook h

While being a vampire had its positives for sure, not knowing his abilities as to what he could do and what he couldn’t do was a nuisance, to say the least. If only Charles had a mentor to guide him, it would have saved him a lot of trouble. The dog’s birthday party didn’t go as planned because Max didn’t leave Charles’ side. It was a shocking behavior to those who knew Max, but some others found it funny and cute. “What kind of spell did he put on it?” Caroline could only wonder. As far as she knew, Max shouldn’t like Charles because it lost in poker against him. Given its competitive spirit, it should hate Charles, but what she saw was the complete opposite. Max was jumping about like an excited puppy and shouted like it was reuniting with a long lost friend. When Charles walked away from the party, Max followed him. The workers tried to stop and catch the dog, but it growled at them and seemed ready to bite them if needed. Max was a dog with a temper, so they didn’t stand in its

Charles bought a lot of dog food home. He didn’t want Max to be hungry when he wasn’t around. In his opinion, relationships weren’t easy to build as two people rarely ever wanted the same thing for the other. And there were more people who kept scores and believed everything should be 50-50, instead of putting more in than the other party, and vice versa. If not for one of his foster mothers treating him like a human and taking care of him, he probably wouldn’t have dared to even dream of marrying. He probably also wouldn’t have finished college and acquired a high-paying job that earned him the marketing manager post with a salary of over 450,000 dollars per year. He had worked his ass off for three years to brainstorm ideas for campaigns and advertisements and create demand for the Myers’ products and boosted the sales like never before with his innovative ideas, but that also caught Gregory’s attention. Thinking back on it, Gregory probably was jealous of Carlos. Otherwise, if he

The next day. When Andres was talking with the manager of a Myers’ store, four masked guys knocked the guard unconscious, burst into the store and stole costly products. Andres attacked them even though they had knives, but they used their knives effectively and made sure to leave unscathed. Andres couldn’t even complain to the police because he realized that it was the same four guys he had made a deal with. But it didn’t stop there. When Andres went to the restaurant for lunch, the same four guys sat at a different table, wearing mouth masks and focusing not on food but on him. “I gave three thousand dollars to these fuckers,” Andres gritted his teeth. “Instead of being grateful, they want to intimidate me like this, probably for demanding more money. I know exactly how to deal with trash like you.” Andres drove his car to the outskirts of the city and entered an abandoned building. The four guys still dared to enter the building. Before long, they were all surrounded by a doze

Charles woke up in the middle of the night, sweating and huffing. It was another nightmare, but he was the one doing the killing. He had taken sleeping pills already, but they clearly didn’t have any effect. He was able to fall asleep when he wasn’t even trying during the daytime, but he wasn’t able to sleep properly at night when he was trying his best to sleep. All this was quite irritating if not unsettling. At this point, he felt like he shouldn’t call himself a murderer anymore because he had killed too many people for whatever reason. His conscience didn’t allow him to justify his actions, let alone see himself as innocent. “Once I get my revenge… I’ll just jump from a cliff.” He told himself. “Yeah, that’s the only thing that can stop the monster in me.” A second of silence, and he doubted himself. “Jumping from a cliff will kill me, right?” He walked out of the apartment. The streets were still pretty busy because it was Halloween night. He stopped by a nearby night cafe

The next morning.Victoria woke up and did not receive a bed coffee. She went to the kitchen, only to find a letter there on the fridge.Cassey had written a letter and disappeared. In the letter, she thanked Victoria for her care, and apologized for leaving this way because she knew Victoria wouldn’t let her go otherwise.“The bats must have really scared her,” Victoria couldn’t really blame Cassey, but she was still angry that Cassey left without even telling directly to her face. “If she comes back running after a few months, I won’t take her in.”On the other hand, Gregory, having lost his argument with Victoria the previous night, brought a black magician to chase the bats away. However, they didn’t know this black magician was a fake. But that would probably be not proven because the bats would no longer attack the mansion from here onward.Sofia told her mother to prepare her multiple masks, one of which looked like Cassey, and others that looked like different people, including

Many minutes passed since Sofia and others got stuck in the smelly basement filled with rat poop and what not. Moreover, these rats were the size of cats. From having eaten all kinds of roots and seeds in the garden, they grew very bulky, and they did not fear these four humans. They were more arrogant than the Myers themselves, as if they were the real owners of this place! As everyone waited with bated breaths, about an hour or so later, the music stopped. The sound of bats leaving reached their ears.“Did they leave?” Sofia wondered. She told Cassey to check on it, but Cassey was still feeling her wounds. She refused to go out. They waited a few minutes before coming out. To their relief, the bats were gone, and so did the guitar, but they didn’t care about the guitar.“Our mansion must be cursed,” Victoria looked at Gregory. “Do something.”“What do you want me to do? Bring some black magicians?” he yelled in frustration.“I don’t know! Just make sure they won’t even come near our

In the middle of the night, Sofia was rolling around and slapping her arms every now and then because bugs were biting her. There was no fan or AC in this cottage. All she had was a hand fan, and her arms had grown heavy from waving the fan. Now, she was completely drenched in sweat, and this made it all the more difficult for her to properly sleep. She got up from the couch and shook her dress before walking out of the cottage. She could see the mansion in the distance. The words her mother told her a day ago came to her mind.“After the wedding was stopped, we didn’t care about anything. But your sister went to the catering guys and told them to give the food to the homeless. They went and freely distributed the food throughout the city in our family’s name,” Victoria showed the details in the newspaper. “This is good for us because the public opinion will surely improve after this incident. We’re doing our best to make those videos Carlos showed at the wedding are fake. Even if som

Sofia was too stunned to even talk or blink for that matter. Seeing Carlos had frozen her to the core.“C-Carlos!” Victoria shouted like a pig walking on broken glass. “Why are you disguised as Charles? What have you done to him? Where is he?”“He’s… standing right before you,” Carlos raised the face mask in his hand. “I’m Carlos. And I’m Charles.”Victoria’s eyes grew wider than the seas. The wine glass in her hand fell.“I’m Carlos Wallce. Why are you marrying Sofia?”Charles maintained a straight face. “You will know soon.”“What do you mean I’ll know soon?” Laurel frowned.“That’s all I can say. If you leave, I’ll prepare for the wedding,” Charles said.Laurel clenched her fist. “I hate you, Charles. I wish I never met you.” Holding her tears back, she rushed out of the room.Charles pursed his lips and took a deep breath. When he looked at himself in the mirror, he hated whom he was seeing.Meanwhile, in another room, Sofia was looking at herself in the mirror with a bouquet in her hand, she felt so happy. Many years ago, when he was very young, he was alone. Even after these years, that didn’t seem to have changed as he didn’t have anyone that would walk beside him.Charles was aimlessly walking, and he noticed a few men trying to look from an old beggar. They managed to take more than a hundred dollars from the beggar, but they still wanted more, and they began to rip his clothes, trying to see if he was hiding the money elsewhere. The beggar was old and weak, so he couldn’t fight back against the two youngsters.Charles approached from behind and grabbed their necks. They couldn’t move their necks, not even a little.“Give his money back,” Charles uttered, putting a bit more strength into his grip, and the youngsters quickly dropped the money. Charles then let go of them, and they ran away pretty
