CHAPTER 45
The noises of the buses, the trains, the cars, and the blazing artificial lights of the traffic prevailed through the city streets, but the sky hundreds of meters above still belonged to the birds of prey during these busy nights.

There was this peculiar quietness in the sky as Charles flew through the darkness, almost feeling what the hunters of night would feel. Thanks to the pollution, the air wasn’t fresh or crisp like the wind from Spring, but more than the noises of the traffic below, he could better hear the songs the birds made with their vocals and wings.

The landscapes were definitely bright below, but the joy of flying in the sable sky only lit by the moon and the stars was indescribable. It was a thousand times better than walking on a footpath. After all, he wouldn’t be knowing the darkness in a visceral way and experience a much broader world by walking on the street like any other human. The sky offered him a wholly different view.
