Narika woke up, and the first thing she saw was her black cat, Pepper, lounging in the window, watching a butterfly flying about in the garden. The weather was wonderful, and Narika could tell that Pepper was waiting for her to open the door so it could adventure outside.

Narika, however, made sounds with her mouth. After a few seconds of effort, she managed to make Pepper come to her for a big ol’ hug and some squishing. Nothing felt more relaxing than cuddling and squishing with her pet cat whom she actually found in the abandoned cottage a couple of years ago. She hoped the kitten’s mother would come, but it didn’t, so Narika had decided to raise the kitten.

That turned out to be one of the best decisions of her life as she found a great friend in Pepper. Raising it wasn’t easy, though. Everyone in the family objected to her decision, saying black cat was a bad omen and also that cats make a mess out of everything. Pepper was also the crying type even when it was well-fed. Even on

Charles made the news again after not only utterly defeating the current top professional gambler of the country but also buying a legendary musician’s villa after they passed away. It cost him close to 20 million dollars.Charles had to do this much to reestablish his status among the rich circles after his blood-bank debacle.Instead of waiting for calls, he actively called people and asked how they were doing. The good thing was that none of them ignored his calls. While he didn’t feel like he was betraying anybody, he definitely felt bad when talking with Laurel. This woman seemed like she was genuinely interested in him, unlike Naida. There was no comparison between Laurel and Naida.“I feel like I’m doing something very wrong,” Charles felt conflicted. “I don’t want to end up hurting Laurel. If I do that, what’s the point of me getting my revenge against my wife and her family? Isn’t it because I was treated unjustly?”“I like Laurel,” Fang said. “She seems like a woman who woul

While Charles wanted to have a date with Laurel in a wonderful open restaurant, with a nice view of the moon and the river, so he could think straight and decide on how to proceed with her, Laurel had other plans. Laurel came to his villa and brought junk food and drinks with her. As they spent time together watching sports and movies, and sometimes talking about their dating lives, time flew by fast. At first, they were five feet apart on the same sofa, but now, she was sitting right next to him, with nothing but a pillow separating them. He could feel her scent, and smell her breath, thanks to his enhanced senses. He remembered that he experienced a similar situation with Narika when they had gone abroad. He felt a much greater pull back then and ended up bringing his fangs out before he knew it, but now he was able to better control himself and fought his urges much better. Unlike Narika, Laurel was blessed with a curvy physique that would make any man want to keep looking. More

“S-Sofia?” Charles rubbed his eyes and looked again. It was really Sofia Myers. Stars sprinkled the sky above, but Sofia, in her tight clothes, looked like a star that had perhaps fallen from the sky and found her way here. Charles found it hard to speak while he tried to not look at her irresistible body proportions, as wind ruffled her hair. “W-What are you doing here?” “You told me you bought a villa in the outskirts,” she excitedly said, her voice accompanied by the rustling of leaves in the background, “so of course I’m here to take a look. And I must say… It's not bad. It’d have been nice if there was an infinity pool, and a bigger porch, but this isn’t half bad, either. Have you been to the Sterling villa?” “No. Why?” “That’s the best villa in the city. It’s located at the top-most of a hill and offers a sweet view of the city,” she said. “The best part is its garden. They grow all kinds of flower plants and fruit trees there. I’ve been there once, and it smells so good. My

Sofia started rubbing Charles' palm in a rhythm.A wife would probably know what her husband’s arms would feel like, but Sofia had no clue that Charles was in fact Carlos even after holding his hand, or after feeling his scent. After all, she had never been close with Carlos, always believing that he didn’t deserve her in the slightest.Much as a part of Charles wanted her to be close and intimate like this, alone in a building, close to her body and heart, the hatred in his heart still won the battle.Charles pulled his hand out, startling her.“What’s wrong?” she innocently asked, a slight frown creasing her brows.“N-Nothing,” Charles kept walking, trying to control his emotions. “I think you should leave.” His voice was cutting sharp.“Huh?” Sofia was puzzled. She wasn’t expecting that response at all, not after she had taken 2 hours before the mirror.(You’ve gotta be kidding me.) Fang fumed at him. (She’s eager to fuck you, and so you should! Isn’t this what you wanted? To put h

“Charles, your teeth...” Sofia pointed out. “They are…”Charles’ heart shook. Just as her hand reached out for his mouth, he turned his head, pulled the canines back in, before looking at her. “You were saying something?”Sofia was puzzled. “Nothing. Must be my imagination. How can your teeth grow like that of a cat? That makes no sense.”“Did you drink before coming here?” he asked.“Haha, no. But I didn’t sleep well last night. Maybe that’s why…” she leaned into him and started twisting his shirt button. “Maybe if I share my warmth with another person, I’ll be able to sleep better.”“Are you suggesting that we sleep in the same bed tonight?” he raised his brows.“Only if you don’t mind.”“I do mind.”“It’s just sleeping, so what’s the issue?”“Like I said, we don’t know each other well enough to sleep on the same bed yet.”“Huh?” She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “By when will we know each other well enough to be sleeping in the same bed then?”“That… only time will tell.”“Y

When Sofia made the spicy tea version 2 and came outside the villa, she found that Charles was gone. This infuriated her so much, and she almost threw the tea cup aside, but because it took her significant effort to make it, she couldn’t just throw it away. So, she ended up tasting it once but then spit it right away. She felt like she was vomiting from the taste it left on her tongue. She ended up coughing a few times. “Ew, this is horrible. It doesn’t taste like tea at all.”She tossed the cup aside and went back into the villa and washed her mouth thoroughly before returning to the sofa and switched the television on.A thriller movie was playing, so she picked the pillow and hugged it tightly as her eyes glued to the screen. But then, her gaze shifted to her left, and she noticed what she believed was a condom box.“My, my,” she leaked out a bright smile as she reached for it. The words ‘strawberry flavor’ were written on the side. “Does he love the same flavor as I do?” She opene

Victoria had never regretted any of her actions so much before. She had never gotten as angry at herself, either, for she had taken Carlos’ words as a challenge and ended up throwing the mobile down the stage. The 9999 dollars worth mobile exploded as if the battery couldn’t sustain the impact pressure, leaving everyone in the crowd and herself shell-shocked. The crowd chattered, while the cameras captured every fume that came out of the mobile. However, Victoria could see that Carlos was smiling like a dog that had achieved something. It made her feel like centipedes were crawling on her skin. She literally shivered from the rage that surged up her spine.“You said nothing will happen to it even when a car runs over the Myles Angel,” Carlos spoke aloud, “but I seriously doubt that statement now. Forget about 9999 dollars, I don’t think Myles Angel is worth even 99 dollars.”“He’s right!” a few people in the crowd joined Carlos. “Why should we pay for such a failed product?”“Now I ca

The taxi driver used his expertise and drove off fast, not giving any chance for a clear shot for the snipers stationed at many spots, even though he did it unknowingly. “What are you running away from, sir? Your ex-wife?”“Y-Yeah, something like that,” Carlos replied and took a deep breath to settle his nerves.“I totally feel for you, sir. My ex-wife cheated on me with my bestie, and when I applied for divorce, she stole my kids, and I still pay her 1200 dollars a month. Money made from my own sweat and blood. I’ve got no parents who can support me, and the only good friend I got…” his voice turned heavy, “he’s living with her now.”Carlos pursed his lips. “I’m sorry.” He couldn’t even imagine the pain the driver must be going through even though the driver had put on a sad smile right now. “Don’t you have any relatives that can help you?”“Relatives?” the driver raised his brows. “Yeah, they were there when my parents died. They made me invest in their businesses. I trusted them, b

The next morning.Victoria woke up and did not receive a bed coffee. She went to the kitchen, only to find a letter there on the fridge.Cassey had written a letter and disappeared. In the letter, she thanked Victoria for her care, and apologized for leaving this way because she knew Victoria wouldn’t let her go otherwise.“The bats must have really scared her,” Victoria couldn’t really blame Cassey, but she was still angry that Cassey left without even telling directly to her face. “If she comes back running after a few months, I won’t take her in.”On the other hand, Gregory, having lost his argument with Victoria the previous night, brought a black magician to chase the bats away. However, they didn’t know this black magician was a fake. But that would probably be not proven because the bats would no longer attack the mansion from here onward.Sofia told her mother to prepare her multiple masks, one of which looked like Cassey, and others that looked like different people, including

Many minutes passed since Sofia and others got stuck in the smelly basement filled with rat poop and what not. Moreover, these rats were the size of cats. From having eaten all kinds of roots and seeds in the garden, they grew very bulky, and they did not fear these four humans. They were more arrogant than the Myers themselves, as if they were the real owners of this place! As everyone waited with bated breaths, about an hour or so later, the music stopped. The sound of bats leaving reached their ears.“Did they leave?” Sofia wondered. She told Cassey to check on it, but Cassey was still feeling her wounds. She refused to go out. They waited a few minutes before coming out. To their relief, the bats were gone, and so did the guitar, but they didn’t care about the guitar.“Our mansion must be cursed,” Victoria looked at Gregory. “Do something.”“What do you want me to do? Bring some black magicians?” he yelled in frustration.“I don’t know! Just make sure they won’t even come near our

In the middle of the night, Sofia was rolling around and slapping her arms every now and then because bugs were biting her. There was no fan or AC in this cottage. All she had was a hand fan, and her arms had grown heavy from waving the fan. Now, she was completely drenched in sweat, and this made it all the more difficult for her to properly sleep. She got up from the couch and shook her dress before walking out of the cottage. She could see the mansion in the distance. The words her mother told her a day ago came to her mind.“After the wedding was stopped, we didn’t care about anything. But your sister went to the catering guys and told them to give the food to the homeless. They went and freely distributed the food throughout the city in our family’s name,” Victoria showed the details in the newspaper. “This is good for us because the public opinion will surely improve after this incident. We’re doing our best to make those videos Carlos showed at the wedding are fake. Even if som

Sofia was too stunned to even talk or blink for that matter. Seeing Carlos had frozen her to the core.“C-Carlos!” Victoria shouted like a pig walking on broken glass. “Why are you disguised as Charles? What have you done to him? Where is he?”“He’s… standing right before you,” Carlos raised the face mask in his hand. “I’m Carlos. And I’m Charles.”Victoria’s eyes grew wider than the seas. The wine glass in her hand fell.“I’m Carlos Wallce. I’m Charles Wallace,” Carlos added. “I’m the guy that has been treated like a trash, not worth her time, by Sofia no matter how much I tried to please her, and I’m also the guy that she has fallen for because she believed she deserved me when I was a gambler who earns in millions every match.”Sofia still kept stupidly staring in gut-busting shock. Why are you marrying Sofia?”Charles maintained a straight face. “You will know soon.”“What do you mean I’ll know soon?” Laurel frowned.“That’s all I can say. If you leave, I’ll prepare for the wedding,” Charles said.Laurel clenched her fist. “I hate you, Charles. I wish I never met you.” Holding her tears back, she rushed out of the room.Charles pursed his lips and took a deep breath. Many years ago, when he was very young, he was alone. Even after these years, that didn’t seem to have changed as he didn’t have anyone that would walk beside him.Charles was aimlessly walking, and he noticed a few men trying to look from an old beggar. They managed to take more than a hundred dollars from the beggar, but they still wanted more, and they began to rip his clothes, trying to see if he was hiding the money elsewhere. The beggar was old and weak, so he couldn’t fight back against the two youngsters.Charles approached from behind and grabbed their necks. They couldn’t move their necks, not even a little.“Give his money back,” Charles uttered, putting a bit more strength into his grip, and the youngsters quickly dropped the money.
