Emilia had started to distance herself from Diego ever since she found out that somebody had tampered with his source of power.

Emilia had at least expected him to assemble all of his goons just like the way he did when he realized that Andrew had gone missing, but he did not, which could only mean one thing—he did not suspect any of them, and anytime soon, he would come to confront her about it because it seemed to her like he had an idea that she knows who had or must have been the one to breach the walls of where Diego's powers lay.

Just as Emilia had thought, that evening when Diego got back from wherever he went, he came over and sat across from her, staring at her with an intent gaze. Emilia swallowed as she tried to ignore Diego's intense gaze on her.

When she mustered the courage to finally look up at him, she was met by a pair of eyes that seemed to bore deep into her soul as if wanting to uncover every secret that lay beneath Emilia's cloak.
