CAUGHT IN THE MIDDLE

Mrs Williams had been staying with Dub and Amelia ever since Dub's accident.

She felt that it was her responsibility to monitor his recovery, and she was determined to make sure that everything was done according to her standards.

Mrs Williams noticed that every time Mrs Cox called, Dub would immediately answer the phone.

One day, as Dub was preparing to answer yet another call from Mrs Cox, Mrs Williams stopped him in his tracks. "Dub, I think it's time you stopped answering Mrs Cox's calls," she said, her voice stern.

Dub looked at his mother in surprise. "What? Why would I do that? Mrs Cox is my biological mother, and she's always been there for me."

Mrs Williams frowned. "Yes, I know that but don't forget that I'm the one who brought you up. She can't have Amelia and you at the same time. Since Amelia is closer to her than me, I think it's high time you do the same."
