THE ASSIGNMENT

The morning sun cast a warm glow over the city as Rodney's fingers tapped impatiently on the screen of his phone. He was ruminating over his discussion with Albert, and now he felt it was time to follow through.

Taking a deep breath, he dialled Albert's number, his heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty.

As the call connected, Rodney's voice was steady and confident. "Albert, it's Rodney. I hope you've had time to think about our conversation."

Albert's response was prompt, his tone carrying a note of seriousness. "I have, Rodney. I've given it a lot of thought."

Rodney's fingers tightened around the phone, his emotions a complex blend of determination and doubt. "And? Are you still on board with our plan?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, a pregnant pause that stretched the seconds into an eternity.

An urgent call came into Albert's other phone which he quickly had to attend to, so he put Rodney's call on hold, unknown to Rodney.
