The occupants downstairs of the motel called the officers to report the incident as well as an ambulance which came immediately as it carried the dead bodies of Katiana and Jensen.
“This motel is starting to give me the creeps. I can’t believe someone died”. Said a random person as they made their way back into the motel.
“But what can we do about it? It’s raining so we can’t even leave now if we want to”. Said a man with a pale face.
“I’m sure there’s no killer here.” Chimed the voice of an old lady. “Those two probably just had a lover’s squabble”
“So bad that they both jumped off the building?” Asked a middle aged lady in her twenties.
“A lover’s squabble can lead to anything “. The old lady said as she moved away and went up to her room. The room of the old lady just happened to be after Liz’s room.
The moment she passed by the room, her eyes caught hold of the blood that was splayed on the ground. For a moment, she thought her eyes were deceiving her so she was about to walk away.
It wasn’t until the lightning flashed once more up in the sky did she see the blood more clearly did she scream, crashing to the ground as she started trembling, moving backwards.
The trio who she’d left downstairs rushed up the stairs to meet her. “What’s going on?”. The pale face man asked but the old lady couldn’t respond as she was still in shock.
When she found the courage to move a muscle, she pointed towards the room with shaky hands as the middle aged woman walked towards it slowly but deliberately.
When she saw the interior of the room, she screamed as she started breaking down in tears. She ran down the stairs to the entrance of the front door as she pulled the knob, in an haste to leave.
She’d just briefly stepped out of the motel into the main road when an oncoming vehicle had ran her over. The onlookers whom had been standing by as they’d heard her violently descend the stairs gasped on shock as they watched her get runover.
A man named Dexter quickly ran to bolt the door shut to prevent whomsoever it was that had ran that lady from entering the motel .
The loud sound of the engine overtaking the woman, they knew not attracted Miss Penelope’s attention as she and Alfred made their way down the stairs.
“What was that noise?” Penelope inquired from the man by the door.
“There’s a serial killer out there and there’s no way on my watch, am I going to let anyone walk through this door.”.
No sooner had that word slipped out of his mouth than had they heard a loud bang against the door.
Dexter trembled in his stead, shivering profusely but never for once leaving the back of the door.
“Mister, it might be a real person out there. Open the door”. Penelope countered.
“Killers are real people too, aren’t they?”. Dexter snarled back. “If you want to act all godly then go out there yourself and do so”
“Please let me in..” cried the feminine voice outside the door. “
On hearing the voice, Penelope immediately recognized it.”Kira?” She questioned. “Kira, is that you?”.
“Miss Penelope, it’s me”. Came Kira’s voice from outside as she banged on the door fervently. “Please let me in!”.
Miss Penelope walked up to Dexter as she tried to push him away but he wouldn’t budge. “Move aside”
“Over my dead body. I Just witnessed a murder and soon afterwards your girl shows up from nowhere?. How on earth did she even go outside under your watch?.”.
“Mister!”. Penelope shouted loosing her cool as she was on the brink of tears. “I just came here to take my students out on a field trip. You said it yourself that there’s a murderer outside. Do you want to leave a poor girl like her all alone out there? Are you sure it would be okay with your conscience?”
“Please let me in!”. Came Kira’s cracking voice yet again as she banged the door harshly making Dexter to be slow on his decision.
“Let her in already”. One of the onlookers said.
“Yes. If you let something happens to that girl, what’s the difference between you and that murderer?”. Cried another voice.
“Yes!. You would be less than a human yourself!”. Came another voice. The uproar that came from the disagreement with the whole occupants and Dexter was a rather loud one and Dexter just as equally felt attacked as no one was on his side.
“I’m trying to save you all!”. He shouted.
“Well then prove it first by saving the girl!”.
“Yes!”. Left with no other choice, Dexter turned towards the door. “Kid, is there anyone around you?”.
“No, it’s just me” came Kira’s voice.
“Okay. I’m going to open the door for you now. Make sure to run in, okay?”.
“Yes”. Dexter opened the door for a while as Kira ran in and he immediately bolted it back.
“Miss Penelope”. Kira cried as she ran to hug her. She was wet from her head to toe but Penelope didn’t care about that right now.
All she knew was that this child was by herself all alone and scared and now that she was in her arms, she planned to make her feel safe.
“You’re safe now Kira”. Miss Penelope said tightly embracing her as she patted her hair and the latter’s body equally shivered under her touch. “Everything fine now”
“Everything is not fine, Miss Penelope”. Came Kira’s cracked voice.
“What do you mean?”.
“Sasha, Bree and Monica…they are gone”
Penelope furrowed her brow, confuse. “What do you mean they are gone? But they didn’t come with us”
“They later came, ma’am and…”
“And?”
“Now they are dead.”. Kira said sobbing profusely as her hands started to shake. “I saw their dead bodies in the forest”
Penelope handed Kira a hot cup of coffee as she wrapped her body with a towel. Seeing the poor girl shivering uncontrollably, she felt her heart break into two. “It must have been really frightening for you to see”. Penelope said as she watched Kira sip her coffee. “Is that the question you should be asking here?”. Caleb questioned. “Rather, you should be asking her what she was doing outside in the rain in the first place ““Caleb!”. Penelope scolded. Kira had just seen something that she might never be able to forget for the rest of her life. The least she needed was people chastising her. “I hate to admit it Penelope, but he’s right”. Mr Alfred spoke up turning to face Kira. “What were you doing outside in the rain?”Kira looked up from Caleb to Mr Alfred and then to miss Penelope before starting her story. “When I left the room after Caleb’s and I argument, I went to the rooftop”. She wasn’t lying though, that’s where she’d seen Katiana and Jensen. “It wasn’t until I’d gotte
Jackson had been busy practicing his moves downstairs in the motel lounge when all the lights had gone off. “What’s going on?”. He muttered under his breath. “The lights went off. Isn’t it as simple as that?”. A voice said behind him making him turn around to see Daisy, the goth. “What are you doing here?” He questioned, surprised as he thought he was the only one who knew about the motel lounge. “You thought you were the only one who knew about the motel lounge?”. Daisy questioned, voicing out his thoughts. Jackson shook his head in denial. “I thought no such thing” “Guys”. Liz called walking into the lounge. “Miss Penelope said we should all round up in one room because of the blackout”. “Just how many people know about this lounge”. Jackson muttered under his breath. “Has there been any reason to the blackout?”. He voiced out “The rain blew up the fuse. They will be calling someone shortly to fix it up so till then she wants us all rounded up in one room”. “I really
Penelope’s scream when she’d seen Desire’s body seemed to have been heard by the whole occupants of the motel as soon people started moving out of their rooms heading towards the direction of whence the sound came from. “Jesus!”. A man cried aloud throwing his hands to his nose to block out the smell of blood as he stood infront of room 312 and saw the bloodied bodies. He moved aside to quickly throw up, feeling like shit. “The fuck is all this?”. He muttered under his breath as he made his way quickly down the stairs. “What did you see up there?” inquired a middle aged lady whi had stopped him in his tracks by holding him back. He pushed her away with a great force. “If you are so curious to know then go and fund out yourself “. With that said, he made his way towards the front door as he turned on the knob with a great force but the door didn’t budge. “No..this can’t be happening”. He cried as he grabbed the knob harder, pulling tighter but it still didn’t budge. Annoyed,
“Sh*t, I think we lost her “. Derrick cursed. After deciding to work together, he and Caleb started tailing Kira since she and miss Penelope had gone to check out Desire in her room. “Do you know Desire’s room number?”Derrick asked hopeful. Caleb shook his head. “I don’t”.“Sh*t!”. Derrick cursed sifting his hands through his hair. “Wait do you hear that?”. Caleb questioned seriously. “Hear wha…oh, I hear it too”. Derrick agreed as the approaching footsteps became clearer and louder. “Quick. Let’s hide”. Caleb cried out pulling Derrick behind him as they moved to hide. The approaching footsteps halted in stead as it’s owner, Kira looked around. “Who is there?”. She questioned but got no response. Derrick shaky breathing could be clearly heard as Caleb hovered his index over his lips. “Breathe more quietly, will you?”. He whispered. Kira could smell their fear as she smirked.”Come out now before I find you”. She said as she resumed her steps. Following their fears, Kira moved
The stares of everyone or the curiosity that filled his mind. Caleb couldn’t decide which one weighed him more. The shabby motel that they were in had three floors. The ground floor that they just left everyone else on, the middle floor where most of the rooms were given to them, and the top most floor. He wasn’t so sure about the rooftop, if it was easily accessible or else that would be a perfect escape route. “What do you think about what’s happening Jackson?” Caleb asked as he moved around with intuition as there was still no light in the motel. “I think it’s something straight out of a horror movie dude” Jackson responded following closely behind Caleb. “My thoughts exactly I don’t understand what the hell is going on” agreed Caleb using the wall as a guide to climb up the dark stairway. Jackson hummed “I just want to get out of here alive”“And then what?”Jackson stared hard at the back of Caleb’s head, if they were to be under normal circumstances they wouldn’t even be ta
“The motel is on fire!”Those were the first words Caleb yelled when he reached the ground floor. At first no one talked or responded to his announcement.Waving his hands frantically he repeated himself “The top floor of the motel is already on fire…”“The building is on fire?” shouted Wallows, the only adult in the room that showed just how terrified he was. “What are you saying Kid?” questioned Dexter stepping away from the wall toward Caleb. “The top floor is on fire. Jackson and I saw I with our own two eyes.”Derrick stepped forward confused. He saw Caleb enter the room alone without Jackson.“Jackson isn’t here Caleb”“What?” Caleb whirled around in confusion. He was sure Jackson was behind him the entire time they made their way back down. “But we came back down together”Kira stepped out to make herself appear more visible to Caleb. She had a hard time hiding the smile off her face because of the fear she could feel dancing around in the atmosphere.“Maybe he lost his way
“I was seven when my Mother called me a good for nothing child” Caleb started. He looked around and he knew no one was listening to him but he still decided to push forward.“I was the definition of a dullard back then. I never paid attention in class and never turned in my assignment every time our teacher asked me to. All I wanted was to keep playing and playing until I could barely stand” Daisy met my eyes from across the room. She hissed and narrowed her black rimmed eyes at me “Why are you sharing your sob story with us?”A glimmer of hope broke through the tense atmosphere and Caleb could tell that he had already gotten the majority if everyone’s attention. “I’m trying to bring out a point Daisy”“Well we don’t want to hear it” Daisy retorted removing her gaze from mine. Regardless of her comment, I continued “I continued this habit for two more years and then when I turned nine years old I could tell that my mom was already bitter because of me.”“She stopped talking to me.
“There’s not enough time to dwell on the fact that there’s no seeable escape route. We have to do something about that fire. It’s already spreading to the second floor of the motel”The group Caleb had sent upstairs – Dexter and Anastasia confirmed that. “How about we call the fire fighters?” suggested Dexter.“That sounds like a good idea. Let’s just pray that they come and actually help us instead of acting like those stupid police officers” Anastasia commented crossing her arms over her chest. “What if they can’t help us break down the door too?” Wallows, the frightened man said. “Can you please be positive?” Derrick asked staring at the older man “We’re all trying to actually survive if you didn’t know”“Where’s the phone we used earlier?” Caleb asked looking around.A young girl stepped out putting her pink sparkly phone into Caleb’s outstretched hand.“Thank you” he uttered sliding the phone into his other hand. Mr. Alfred watched the scene with a familiar warm feeling bloom
