Chapter 3: Team Building

Jacob felt sad and disappointed with Benedict's behaviour. He didn't understand why Benedict hated him so much. Jacob just wanted to be friends with Benedict because he felt something was interesting and special about Benedict.

"You're an interesting young man. I want to befriend you; I will visit your dormitories after this," Jacob murmured softly.

Benedict was disgusted and annoyed by Jacob's words. Benedict considered Jacob to be a hypocrite. Benedict dismissed Jacob's hand and looked away.

"Don't dream! I will never be friends with you! You're just an arrogant rich man! You just want to make fun of me! You just want to hurt me!" Benedict shouted angrily.

Jacob was surprised and confused by Benedict's reaction. But Jacob did not give up on approaching Benedict. Jacob kept smiling and being friendly to Benedict.

"Calm down, and I won't do anything to you. I just want to talk to you and tell you something important," Jacob said calmly.

"What's important? What do you want to tell me?" asked Benedict suspiciously.

Jacob took a deep breath, then said seriously, "I know who you really are. I know what you're hiding from everyone. I know what happened to that malfunctioning machine. I know what you were doing in the box."

Benedict was shocked to hear Jacob's words. Benedict felt scared and panicked. Benedict stepped back from Jacob and looked for something he could use to protect himself.

"How do you know all that? Who are you really? What did you come here for?" Benedict asked shakily.

Jacob approached Benedict and looked at him with concerned eyes.

"I am not your enemy, Benedict. I'm not a spy or an assassin, either. I am your friend who wants to help you. I came here because I know you have great potential. I know you have incredible shadow abilities. I know you are an Aetherian unlike any other."

Benedict did not believe Jacob's words. Benedict felt that Jacob was just lying and deceiving him.

"What do you mean? I don't have shadow abilities. I'm just a weak and helpless level-3 officer. I'm not a different Aetherian. I'm just an Aetherian who was wasted and left out," Benedict said bitterly.

Jacob shook his head and smiled gently.

"You are wrong, Benedict. You have very special shadow abilities. You are a rare and dangerous Aetherian who can change the destiny of the Markopoulos world."

Benedict took a deep breath to calm himself and said, "I'm sorry if I offended you." "Let's go!" Benedict extended an invitation.

The division of teams was announced over the speakers. There would be 750 teams established, and after three months, a competition between individuals and teams would be held. The awards included money, unique training with the best instructors, and exclusive access to the military library.

"It appears like an announcement is on the way. "I'm hoping we can work together," Jacob stated.

"Why would you want to collaborate with me?" I'm a scumbag, a scumbag, and a scumbag. "What's the catch?" Benedict questioned, face down, irritated and shocked that a wealthy person would want to befriend him.

"No one is born a loser; everyone is born a winner." Consider this: 100 million tadpoles are swimming towards your mother's womb, but only one makes it in, and that is you. "The rest perish, and you are the most fortunate creature to have been born into the world," Jacob said.

"I'm sure you'll change someday; the wheel of life turns every second." The past is a lesson and an experience; today is work, and tomorrow is the outcome of today's work. Effort never fails to produce results! "Because you're an interesting person," Jacob continued, smiling.

Benedict remained quiet in the face of Jacob's statements; he had never heard words so profound and true that they could touch his heart.

"Fine, we're pals, but if you ever betray me. "I'll finish you off myself," Benedict responded, raising a fist with a sarcastic smirk.

Jacob also extends his hand and rubs it against his fist.

"Well, I'm ready to accept that if I betray," Jacob remarked with a charming grin and coquettish twinkle in his eyes.

"Team 10, Benedict Muller, Jacob Marseille, Clara Michelle Gomez, and Jennifer Marshall, are in tenth grade for mentor guide Carly Monet!" Officers, report to the training site immediately!" screamed Benjamin, the deputy military director, over the loudspeaker.

"Our names have been called, and we have formed a group; fate has brought us together." "Let's get started!" said Jacob. Benedict was carrying two bags as they walked to the practice pitch. The yellow ball was in one bag, and the food Jacob had given him was in the other.

Each squad will be assigned to a separate training field, depending on who the mentor is. The more advanced the mentor, the more difficult the training. Carly, who is already a Deluxe Soldier Agent and the most powerful mentor at Galdorien School, will give extensive instruction.

They arrived in the practice room together. Clara, Michelle Gomez, and Jennifer Marshall had arrived.

Clara is a woman with short, straight brunette hair and blue pupils who is dressed in a burgundy suit and gown. Clara wields a long sword with a blue hilt and a navy sheath depicting a sea snake. Clara is level 4 and possesses the 7 Gods technique, a legendary sword skill sought for by Markopoulos.

On the other hand, Jennifer Marshall is a curly-haired girl with black hair and green eyes. Jennifer is dressed casually in a red dress.

Jennifer held a black double dagger in both her right and left hands. Jennifer possesses a tremendous healing ability. Jennifer is an alchemist skilled at concocting medicines; the Marshalls own a fabled divine alchemist book that Markopoulos seeks. Jennifer's drawback is that her Level is only at level 2, making her techniques less effective.

Carly observed from the top of the hill, utilising stealth mode to avoid being spotted by the four of them.

"I'll put them to the test, gauntlet mode!" Carly mumbled as she shaped the little stone in her fingers into a gauntlet.

Carly's ability is the art of form, transforming tiny stone weapons into any weapon the user imagines. Carly is after Benedict and wants to understand about his powers as well as his secrets.

Carly jumped over the boulders with grace and speed before punching Benedict.

"Shadow step!" says the person.

Jacob's body moved quickly and deflected Carly's attack. Two powerful blows collided, causing Jacob to jump and collide with Benedict.

They both collided with a massive rock and spilt blood. Jacob's massive and powerful torso crushed Benedict's body.

"Man, get up; you're so heavy!" Benedict said.
