The news hadn’t absorbed into her fully the first time he said it. Anderson had to repeat himself again before Melissa understood the gravity of her situation.

Nicholas was dead.

Behind that thick door were an array of dead bodies in a freezer and Nicholas’s was one of them.

Her fiance Nicholas, the man she was going to get married to, the man that loved her like no one else could, the man that had promised her forever was now behind that door, his corpse embalmed in the freezer.

Fuck. It had better be a dream.

Her shoulders sagged and her eyes welling up with tears that flowed unchecked down her cheeks.
