He spun around, and his eyes quickly noticed familiar faces at the far end of the room having a heated conversation with an unfamiliar face. He squirmed his eyes, narrowing it down to them and saw that it was for sure Gabriel and the bodyguards. He ached his brows, what were they doing there? And why were they arguing with that man? She watched him as he left his lounge table and made his way towards the other end of the room. Now that he was gone, it was her time to strike. Aiden walked over to the commotion. Gabriel and some guy were arguing. “I know you’re the manager but that doesn’t mean we get treated like tha—” “What’s going on Gabriel?” Aiden asked, cutting short Gabriel’s statement. Gabriel turned to him, “Oh Great, our General is here.” The manager also faced Aiden, quickly accessing his outlook and noting that he was a man of class. “I’m sorry sir, but are they affiliated to you?” The manager’s tone calmed down as he spoke to Aiden. Aiden felt complacent within, it’s

“Daddy! Daddy! Wake up.” That was what jolted Aiden out of his deep sleep the next morning. His eyes gradually opened and the blurry morning vision cleared and he saw crisply, Hope hovering over him with a broad smile on her face. It was contagious of course and Aiden found himself smiling too, “Good Morning baby.” He greeted her, lifting her and placing her on the other side of the bed and she giggled. “Morning daddy.” She grinned now. Her smiles looked more better now, and it’s not even up to twenty–four hours of their upliftment. Also, something else was different about her smile— and it wasn’t the piece of spinach stuck between her teeth which clearly showed she hadn’t brushed her teeth last night— rather, she had lost a tooth. “Oh? Did you loose a tooth, Hope?” Aiden asked obliviously. Her grin spread, “Yes daddy. I gave it to the tooth fairy.” Aiden fake gasped in awe. “And she’s going to give me a big present tomorrow, just like she always does.’’ Hope excitedly said and a

“What’s the cause of all the ruckus going on here? This is supposed to be a serene work environment for Christ’s sake! Why is there so much noise?” Gabriel began to scold the crowd, obviously not recognizing who those two unwanted faces were. “We’re so sorry sir. They barged in and we tried to stop them but we couldn’t, they were so preserve.” One of the security personnel tried to reason but Gabriel wasn’t hearing any of it. He knew the General wouldn’t like this uncalled for presence from these strangers.“And why are you just standing there and telling me sorry? Get them out of here or do you want you all’s asses fired on the first day?” Gabriel yelled and the security personnel sterned and made their way to try to hoist the two of them out of the premises. “Hold on.” Aiden halted and they did as they were told, leaving them alone at the immediate command but they were confused why the General had told them to wait. Riley stared at the paper that fell in front of her. She wasn’t too surprised, she had expected this and knew that there was no way Aiden would forgive them. She knew what she had done to him and how grievous they were, she didn’t deserve his sympathy. But on the other hand, Lady Elizabeth was shattered. She was hoping that it wouldn’t come to this. Marriage was the only link that ensured she would be a part of Aiden’s newly found wealth, even though the link itself was quite shaky, it was sure. She wanted to be a part of Aiden’s new fountain and now it had been destroyed. All her efforts in vein. “But it doesn’t have to be like this. We could still resolve matters.” Lady Elizabeth begged but the fell on deaf ears. Aiden had made up his mind long ago and was waiting on this day for many years, the day that he would humiliate Lady Elizabeth and her daughter. And he was just beginning. “There’s no resolve. Aiden was seated across Katherine on their reserved table for two. Aiden was still in his clothes from earlier, while Katherine had actually really dressed up for this. She was in a red dress, clung and glued to her figure but in a kind of conservative way and not in a Friday night club way. Her hair was in a sleep bun and she had on golden jewelry, a golden belt around her waist and a golden pair of shoes and same golden–coloured bag.Wow. She was breathtakingly beautiful, as always and Aiden had almost forgotten about how gorgeous she looked. And it wasn’t helping matters that her lips were doused in red lipstick and her dressed dibbed low enough just to show an amount of cleavage. And anytime she leaned towards her plate to pick up the grapes in her appetizer and drop them into her mouth, he got quite the view. She wanted to distract him. But that won’t work. “So, Aiden. How’s your daughter?” She chewed on the grapes. “She’s fine. She went to register back at school today.”

Aiden is dumbfounded. Katherine had trapped him a corner and he didn’t gen understand how she did it. She really is smart and a force to reckon with, he couldn’t believe how she had played him this bad. He was screwed. And there wasn’t much he could do anymore, she had countered all the opportunities he had to deflect. He stared at her, she was smiling smugly now, very complacent in how she had turned things back into her favour. Aiden was going to be hers by all costs and she wasn’t bluffing, his wealth would become hers too. Her long–thought plan was gradually coming into fruition. Aiden doesn’t know what to say to her. In fact, there was nothing he could say to her. She had won, but he wouldn’t surrender— yet. He has to explore all his options, he would seek Steven’s opinion on this first before he says anything. Aiden was very much taken aback by the question. She really wanted a mother. She hadn’t explicitly talked about needing a mother before, so Aiden felt she was just saying so because she felt bad that she didn’t have one and her classmates did. Although, he knew she was bothered about it. In her former school, she had once complained that her classmates used to pick on her because she had never brought her mother for Bring Your Mum Day. And they usually bully her saying she was trash and that’s why her mother abandoned her. Aiden was livid when he heard it. And he knew that Hope was sad about her situation, but she never actually spoke about wanting a mother, up until now. Aiden had taken a vow to always make Hope happy and if she feels she needs a mother to be happy, then he would give her one. He thinks it’s high time he actually got her someone. And that meant he had to get married. But he had no one in mind, the only three women in his life were Riley who he would soon divorce

Melissa paced anxiously in her lavishly decorated living. She had phone pressed against her ears, waiting for the receiver on the other end to pick up. After a few moments, he finally picked up. "Mr. Anderson, it's Melissa. I need your services urgently," she spoke into the phone with a sense of urgency."Of course, Miss Wiliams. I'll be there as soon as possible," replied a calm and composed voice on the other end.Within the hour, Investigator Anderson arrived at Melissa's residence. The imposing wrought-iron gates swung open to welcome him. Melissa was already outside, waiting to receive him. "Mr. Anderson, thank you for coming promptly." Melissa said as she led him into her tastefully decorated living room.The investigator, a middle-aged man with sharp eyes that seemed to miss nothing, nodded in acknowledgment. "No problem, ma'am."As they entered the living room, Melissa gestured toward a luxurious leather chair. "Please, have a seat. Can I offer you something to drink? Perhap
