CHAPTER 03 REVEALED

Although Marlene's face immediately turned red, she didn't say anything in reply. Meanwhile, there was a hint of a smile on Ellen's face, which he hid immediately.

Feeling uncomfortable with the way she had claimed her possession by wrapping her hand around his elbow, he gently freed his arm from her grip.

But Emilia was enjoying the look of jealousy in Marlene's eyes, and as soon as Ellen pushed her hand away, she tried to reach for his hand again. This time, she grabbed his palm and wrapped her fingers around it, intentionally creating a misunderstanding.

What she hadn't expected was that Ellen would reprimand her sternly;

"Let go," he ordered, his tone carrying a rare edge of authority.

Emilia, although reluctantly and unhappily, did as she was told and stepped aside to respect his wishes.

This intimate and close interaction between Ellen and the gorgeous guard captain didn't escape the notice of Sam, who was watching them from just a few feet away, consumed by a burning jealousy.

Not only was she strikingly beautiful, but the way she was smiling made his heart flutter. Although her earlier stunt had initially made him angry, now it seemed bold, making her even more tempting in his eyes.

Plus, the car she was driving was a shiny white supercar that seemed to be brand new. It was probable that she was from some rich and powerful family…

For a moment, he forgot all about Marlene, as this girl occupied all his attention. He just couldn't believe how dumb Ellen could be; after all, this beautiful woman was offering herself to him, and that fool was rejecting her attention!

Nevermind, if this Ellen was such a fool, then he would take advantage of his stupidity and win this woman's attention himself.

Thinking this, Sam approached Emilia with the intention of engaging in conversation.

He knew that she had taunted Marlene by calling him her dad, but he tried to use it as a way to flirt with her,

"You know, I am not her dad, but I could be something much more to y-"

The moment he stepped towards her and began to speak, the warmth that was on Emilia's face moments ago instantly disappeared, only to be replaced by a cold expression.

Her cherry red lips that were smiling sweetly at Ellen pressed into a thin annoyed line, and his flirtatious words were met with a curt rejection.

"Get out."

These were the only words she decided to respond with, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Sam was taken aback by captain's military temperament and authoritative command, and he felt a sharp pang of embarrassment.

He retreated quickly, coming to stand by Marlene's side, who was also directing annoyed glances at him.

She wanted him to pick her up from the law firm and pamper her in front of everyone, especially Ellen – so that she could show him that she had much better options than him now.

But instead of making him jealous, this idiot was trying to hit on the girl, as if it was his mission to embarrass her even more.

She grabbed Sam's sleeve and was about to drag him away from there before he could do any other stupid act, but she stopped when she heard her name being called out.

Emilia approached Marlene, her gaze clearly showing how much she looked down on her.

In a mocking tone, she asked,

"Seriously? Is this the best one you could find in the market? Or, be honest, did you just grab the first idiot you found on the street and brought him here?"

"Mind your words, he is Sam Catt, the-"

Before Marlene could finish his unimpressive introduction, Emilia cut her off and remarked in a steely tone,

"Oh, save it. The truth is, you have no idea what you've missed."

Marlene looked at her with fury in her eyes, and hissed,

"Missed? That useless scum-"

SMACK!

Before she could finish speaking, Emilia placed a hard slap on Marlene's cheek.

The unexpected act left everyone frozen in place, especially Marlene. Her hand instinctively touched her stinging cheek, which was turning red.

Ellen Willmott was not any ordinary man, he was the Supreme Commander of the country Victoria, and also leader of the elite group of fighters known as the Giant Hall.

And if Marlene hadn't been in such a hurry to divorce him, she would have found this out today, at the party he had planned for her.

Not only Ellen, but his entire unit had been excited to plan the party to celebrate his wedding anniversary and see him surprise his wife, whom they all regarded as a noble and respectable woman.

But nobody had expected the woman he loved to actually be so shallow and materialistic, that she would actually cheat on him for the sake of money!

The truth about Marlene's betrayal was even more impossible to digest for Ellen's subordinates than for Ellen himself, and all of them were burning with rage towards Marlene.

What Emilia had done was just a sample of how they wanted to teach Marlene a good lesson.

The Guard Captain raised her hand once again, wanting to continue, and Marlene turned her face away, anticipating the slap.

"Stop!"

Emilia's hand froze in the air as a cold and stern voice cut through the tension.

Ellen had stepped forward, and Marlene looked at him with hope in her eyes. At least, he had spoken up for her and stopped this woman from humiliating her.

She looked at Emilia with a look of superiority and a smug smile on her face, like she wanted to say, "What can you do now?"

But instead of taking her side, Ellen just said coldly,

"She's not even qualified enough for you to waste your time beating her."

Marlene's jaw dropped as she slowly understood that Ellen had not saved her; in fact, he had just insulted her in an indirect manner, without even using any harsh words.

While she was still trying to understand what had just happened, Ellen turned around to leave and Emilia also followed him with a look of victory on her face.

But she was still not satisfied with just one slap, and just after taking a few steps, Emilia turned around abruptly and threw the supercar keys towards Marlene, high in the air.

"Catch it if you can!"

Marlene, who was still reeling from the earlier slap, fumbled to catch the keys.

Her hands reached out in the air but the keys fell with a loud clatter, some distance away from her.

She hurriedly ran towards them and bent down, but before her fingers could grasp the keys, Emilia's shiny boots landed on top of the keys, pressing them down with force.

She looked at Marlene with disgust as she declared,

"This car was indeed my gift to you. But now, it is clear that you don't deserve it."

With a swift motion, the Guard Captain took the keys in her hand and pressed a button, which activated the autopilot system of the supercar.

The engine roared to life, its powerful sound echoing as Emilia revved it through the buttons.

By now, a crowd had gathered outside the law firm to see what was going on, including the customers from the nearby restaurant and shops.

In front of the stunned onlookers, the supercar accelerated, only to collide directly with a truck parked on the side of the road.

But while everyone was shocked, Emilia wasn't even bothered. Instead of looking at the collision, she turned her attention towards Marlene.

Making eye contact with her, she said,

"Didn't I tell you, that you have no idea what you missed… just wait and watch."

These words confused Marlene even more, but just then, the truck driver also came out of a nearby restaurant.

As soon as he saw that his vehicle had been damaged by a car, he instantly became angry.

But, before he could express his frustration, Emilia approached him calmly and patiently.

Without a word, she handed the truck driver the keys to the supercar, and a $10 million cheque as compensation.

The unexpected act left the truck driver stunned as his anger was immediately extinguished, and silence settled over the chaotic scene as Ellen and Emilia left, leaving behind a bewildered crowd.
