Luke walked into Fiona's villa, trying to maintain a smile on his face despite feeling incredibly uneasy. He had dressed up in his best suit for Fiona's birthday party, hoping to make a good impression on her friends and family. However, the security guards at the entrance teased him, making him feel even more self-conscious.
Luke really had on one of his best dress from his closets, the rich always expects much he said as he giggled himself.
Luke drove in with his old car while he parked by other flashy cars, he looked really amazed for the cars he had seen around.
Luke looked in astonishment while he stares glarely to everything around.
He thought in his mind , if I could drive in such cars then Fiona's friend wouldn't be teasing her anytime I drop her off in campus.
As he entered the hall, Luke was taken aback by the magnificent decorations. It was obvious that Fiona's family had spared no expense in preparing for the party. However, as Luke looked around, he noticed that many of Fiona's family members were laughing at him and his choice of attire. This confused him since they usually ignored him or expressed annoyance at his presence.
It was unlike the other times, although they usually never want my presence felt at any occasion ,but this was different, they came close to me whilst they giggled and tried to welcome me with those giggles even with their mockery they still felt to make me feel comfortable.
Luke scented something unusual about their behavior, is there something they are hiding from me, what could be their plans of even inviting me to the place.
Just then, Fiona appeared, dressed elegantly in a stunning dress. As soon as she entered the room, all the male guests were attracted to her, including David, who strutted towards Fiona, carrying a large gift-wrapped box. Fiona smiled at David and thanked him for coming, completely ignoring Luke's presence.
Luke thought since Fiona invited him herself,she would at least recognize his presence but it was nothing he thought.
Luke did all he could to catch the attention of Fiona but she never looked at that direction
Luke's anxiety grew as the other guests started presenting their gifts. He watched as one after the other, luxurious and expensive items were brought forward, further highlighting the contrast between his own simple gift and the extravagance of Fiona's world. He couldn't help but feel like an outsider, a small-town boy who did not belong in Fiona's wealthy world.
Luke felt really said about how he was being treated at the party, anything he had in my mind to present was really dear to his heart and thought Fiona would appreciate it with love.
Luke quickly hid his present for it was nothing compared to the luxurious gift that was gifted to Fiona at the party.
What would he have possibly gifted to her to have made her proud of even being his wife, he couldn't present any luxurious gift to Fiona.
As Luke wandered around the premises to take some shots to cool down his nerves he bumped into David.
Finally, David made his way over to Luke. "Hey, you," he sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. "I see you finally managed to scrape up enough cash to buy a decent suit. Maybe there's hope for you yet." He giggled as he spat such useless words on Luke.
Luke bristled at the insult. He could feel his temper starting to flare up. "I'm not here to impress you, David," he spat out. "I'm here for Fiona's birthday." And Beside you have no right to say all sort of these things to me, we all came here for one purpose,that is to make Fiona happy on her birthday,so let's possibly do that and leave here in peace.
'Make her happy you say' David sneered at Luke ,and do you think you being his husband makes her happy, you are not from our world because you don't even know the kind of thing that makes the queens from our wealthy kingdom happy, so you dare not utter such word .
Luke replied , I have said what I have said Mr. as he tried to walk pass David.
David looked like he was about to throw a punch, but Nina suddenly appeared, pushing her way in between them. "Stop it, both of you!" she scolded, looking at David sternly. "Leave him alone."
David snarled, shooting a final hateful look at Luke before walking away, grumbling under his breath. Fiona approached Luke, smiling sweetly. "I'm glad you could make it," she said, taking his arm and leading him towards the other guests.
Luke felt even more confused. How could Fiona be so nice to him after her family had just humiliated him? He couldn't shake the feeling that there was something off about this whole situation. Nevertheless, he decided to put aside his misgivings and enjoy the party, hoping to make the best of it.
From the beginning she never looked at me for once and now she has appeared to just grab my hands asking if I am comfortable at everything happening around.
Luke really felt confused and starts to think, is she really going to give us a chance to work this marriage out or she has her own plans plotted out.
Luke felt really happy as well for the thoughts coming in mind.
The attention of all the people around was requested, Luke had in mind that there was going to be an announcement about them since Fiona's had come to grab his hands.
It was nothing of that sort but it was really David who came Infront of the whole people and proposed to my wife Fiona.
How is this possible, she is my wife for God's sake like screamed loudly to the hearing of the whole people gathered around.
They had no remorse for their actions, Fiona's family just stood there and watched them so all that pleased them.
Fiona came to me saying, we have looked for other means to get rid of you, and today is the time, my friends and family cannot even accept you so why don't you take this money and leave our lives for good, Fiona threw down to his face 100k .
Luke left the premises with bitterness and drunk to dissolution that night.
