“You see? I told you not to listen to the words of this fraud. Now he has put my patient’s life in danger.” Doctor Alex yelled.

One of Annabel’s cousins stepped forward and slapped him so hard that his head turned to the side, and red handprints began to show on his face.

“Don’t you dare try to shift the blame to an innocent man. You were the one who insisted on removing the needles. When Roman touched him, he was stable. This is all your fault!”

“He has been stable before this man put needles in him. I was only trying to help.” Dr Alex cried out, still trying to defend himself.

“Well, do you have any cure that is sure to work? Since you’re adamant that Roman’s method is wrong? The cousin asked and Dr Alex stuttered.

He had no solution to the problem. He didn’t even have a proper diagnosis for the old man’s ailment, else he would have used that knowledge to get in the family’s good graces, and win some prestige.

Someone in the room screamed as they saw the worm come out of him. The others in the room, especially Dr Alex and his team were shocked. They all stared with wide eyes and dropped jaws, even after Roman sealed the worm in the jar. Annabel was the first one to recover from the shock in the room, and she rushed to her grandfather’s side. He was still a bit pale, but he was looking much healthier already.“Anna, my dear. What’s happening?” Her grandfather asked with a hoarse voice. He had been unconscious since he fell sick, and this was the first time in months that he was using his voice. She gave him water to drink and he finally looked around. “Why am I in a hospital? The last thing I remember is working in my office.”“Grandpa Frank, you’ve been sick for months. We found you passed out in your office, and we’ve been trying to find a cure for you ever since. Nothing ever worked till Roman came. I’m so glad to see you awake. I was so scared to lose you.” She sobbed as she hugged him.

Roman pulled up to the Maxim estate the next evening. He took a moment to appreciate just how far he had come in the past few days. The mansion was ridiculously impressive—all gleaming windows, elegant stone pillars, and a front yard so perfectly manicured it almost looked fake. A week ago, a place like this wouldn’t have even let him onto the sidewalk. Now? He was walking through the front doors like a VIP guest.Life was weird. He stepped out of his car, smoothing down his black button-up shirt. He wasn’t the type to stress about things like dinner parties, but this was different. These weren’t just random rich people—this was Annabel’s family, and he could already guess they were going to want answers. About him. About how he’d saved Frank’s life. About who he really was.Of course they would. Weren't they the ones who invited him here? Before he could knock, the door opened. An old butler gave him a once-over and nodded. He was gray-haired and looked like he’d been serving the Ma

Roman stepped out of his car and looked around. The place was just as he remembered—a high-end private place, the kind that only the rich and powerful had access to. The last time he was here, it was for the charity auction, and it had led him straight into a world he hadn’t been sure he belonged to.Now, he was back for more answers. He walked past the valet without bothering to acknowledge the man’s polite nod. His focus was on finding Kade.Inside, like the last time, there was the same dim, gold-lit atmosphere. The air was thick with the scent of expensive cigars and aged whiskey. The people present today weren’t ordinary businessmen—they were kingmakers, the kind who controlled entire industries from behind the scenes. Roman walked past them as he approached the front desk, where a sharply dressed woman greeted him with a professional smile.“Mr. Roman, welcome back. How can I assist you?”“I need to see Kade.”Her smile didn’t waver, but Roman noticed the slight shift in her ex

She leaned against the marble counter of her open kitchen, glancing at the clock.Kristan should be here any moment. And, as if on cue, there was a knock on her door. A slow smirk curled across Vivienne’s lips as she walked gracefully to the door. She opened it, and saw the man she had been expecting. He stood there, tall and ridiculously good-looking. • Hired For The Plan

Vivienne’s house was as grand and extravagant as ever. A massive chandelier hung from the ceiling, which threw a warm glow over the shiny marble floors. The air smelled of expensive wine and a faint hint of fresh lilies. It was Vivienne’s personal touch, since she loved lilies. But tonight, no one was admiring her expensive decor. Everyone sat around a mahogany table with flutes of wine in their hands. And their faces were tense.Lucian, Soren, Evander, Alistair, and of course, Vivienne herself—the inner circle of the Averne family. And the only thing on their minds now was Roman. He had just walked out on them earlier that day, making it clear as hell that he wasn’t backing down now or ever. Now, they had no choice but to figure out how to stop him for good.Lucian leaned forward. His fingers were laced together and his expression was unreadable. “We need to move fast.”Soren, who was swirling the wine in his glass, scoffed. “Move fast? With what, exactly? A long-lost heir suddenly returning and demanding power? What do you think that will do to our stock value?”Roman laughed.Alistair blinked in confusion. “What’s funny?
