Hamilton’s face turned ghastly pale as all the blood drained from his face. If his family was kicked out of the business association, it would be a big blow to their finances. And everyone would blame him for it.

“Sir, forgive my offence. Whatever I did to offend you, please have mercy, sir.” Hamilton immediately dropped to his knees to beg.

“You don’t even have an idea what you’re apologising for.” Kade said with a disgusted expression on his face as he stared down at Hamilton like he was an insignificant bug.

“I must have spoken out of turn. Or maybe it’s something else. Whatever I did, sir, please forgive me. Spare my family. Please.”

Kade just scoffed, and turned away to give the guards new orders.

“Take him out of here. If he resists, then drag him out. I don’t care, as long as you get him out of my sight.”

Hamilton moved forward on his knees and tried to grab Kade’s legs, but he was forcefully dragged away by the guards, while still screaming for mercy.

They dumped him in the al

Roman was a bit sceptical as he heard Kade call him young master. He had no idea what was going on, just like when that blonde woman came to give him the black card and the ring. He didn’t even know the blonde woman’s name because he had never bothered to ask, mainly due to the fact that he didn’t believe her back then. Now that her words have been proven to be true, he had no way of contacting her. Was this situation similar to that?Annabel on the other hand was shocked. She stared at Kade with wide eyes as she wondered why a man as powerful as him would be calling Kade young master, and even bowing. That was a deep sign of respect, and Kade wasn’t the kind of man to do something like that without a good reason. It seemed that Roman was more powerful than even she had estimated. “You seem shocked to hear me call you young master.” Kade said as he came closer.“Yes. Everyone seems to be afraid or intimidated by you. It’s normal for me to be a bit perplexed by your reaction and words

“What makes you sure that my memories weren’t lost in an accident? That’s the most logical explanation for it.” Roman said to Kade. “Can what we just witnessed happen to the ring be explained logically?” Kade asked instead of responding to Roman’s question.Roman shook his head in response. “No it can’t. But there’s still no proof that my memory loss was caused by anything unnatural or magic related.”“The fact that you still can’t remember anything after this long is enough proof. Also, if your memory loss was caused by an accident, it would have been rectified as soon as you put on the merged ring. I’m sure you already feel physically stronger. Mentally, you’re also stronger, even though mental power cannot be as easily evaluated as physical power.”“You’re right. I do feel stronger physically. But that could just be adrenaline still coursing through my veins.”“We both know it’s not adrenaline. But my point is, if your memory loss had been caused by just an accident, by increasing

The ride to the hospital where Annabel’s grandfather was hospitalised was silent. Roman was behind the steering wheel, because Annabel was in no state to drive, and he needed the action to keep him occupied. He had been confident enough to tell Annabel that he would be able to cure her grandfather, he was beginning to wonder if maybe he spoke too soon. He was new to the power and knowledge given to him by the ring. Wouldn’t it have been better for him to first test it out on a smaller level before attempting something of this magnitude? He had no idea what ailment her grandfather had, and according to her, several world renowned doctors had tried to diagnose him to no avail. No one would believe he could do it, especially since he didn’t have a medical degree. But as he stared at Annabel’s face, he realised that it didn’t matter if anyone else doubted him. She believed in him, and after all her help so far, he owed it to her to at least try. And he had no plans to fail, even though h

“I have no need for tricks. I’m not a magician, nor am I a con man. I’m here to help.” Roman responded to Marren, who just scoffed in disbelief.Roman took a deep breath and accessed the ring’s medical knowledge, while staring at Marren with eyes tinged with the ring’s power. The diagnosis immediately filled his head, along with a few details he had noticed on his own. Marren was about to make another derogatory statement, but Roman interrupted him before he could say a word.“You’re sick, but you haven’t told anyone yet.”Marren paused as he heard this, but he refused to back down easily.“That is a very vague way of confirmation. I’ve coughed once or twice since you came into the room. Even an idiot can guess I’m not in the best of health.”“Your cough isn’t the problem, it’s just a symptom of the actual cause of your sickness. Your lungs have been weakened by years of chain smoking, and it’s beginning to affect your respiration rate. You can’t breathe in too deeply or it causes you

How could he even have gotten poisoned? We mostly share all our meals together, so if it was poison, other people would be affected. Especially me. I still live at home with him.” Annabel’s aunt, Janice asked.“This type of poison is not given through food. It’s too complicated to explain now. When I succeed in taking it out, you’ll see for yourself.” Roman responded.“So how do we take it out? His condition is getting worse.”“That’s because the poisonous organism has started eating his heart. In one week, if nothing is done, he will die. But I can take out the poison. I just need heated needles.”“Needles? How would that help? A poison should have an antidote. Some type of herb or medicine, not a needle.” Annabel’s father said sceptically.“You’ll just have to trust me on this. Like I said before, the poison isn’t normal, so normal means won’t work to cure it. You’ve already tried other means of treatment, and it didn’t work. What do you have to lose?” He asked and the man sighed, r

“You see? I told you not to listen to the words of this fraud. Now he has put my patient’s life in danger.” Doctor Alex yelled. One of Annabel’s cousins stepped forward and slapped him so hard that his head turned to the side, and red handprints began to show on his face.“Don’t you dare try to shift the blame to an innocent man. You were the one who insisted on removing the needles. When Roman touched him, he was stable. This is all your fault!”“He has been stable before this man put needles in him. I was only trying to help.” Dr Alex cried out, still trying to defend himself.“Well, do you have any cure that is sure to work? Since you’re adamant that Roman’s method is wrong? The cousin asked and Dr Alex stuttered. He had no solution to the problem. He didn’t even have a proper diagnosis for the old man’s ailment, else he would have used that knowledge to get in the family’s good graces, and win some prestige. The Doctor scrambled to try and stop the machines from beeping, but it di

Someone in the room screamed as they saw the worm come out of him. The others in the room, especially Dr Alex and his team were shocked. They all stared with wide eyes and dropped jaws, even after Roman sealed the worm in the jar. Annabel was the first one to recover from the shock in the room, and she rushed to her grandfather’s side. He was still a bit pale, but he was looking much healthier already.“Anna, my dear. What’s happening?” Her grandfather asked with a hoarse voice. He had been unconscious since he fell sick, and this was the first time in months that he was using his voice. She gave him water to drink and he finally looked around. “Why am I in a hospital? The last thing I remember is working in my office.”“Grandpa Frank, you’ve been sick for months. We found you passed out in your office, and we’ve been trying to find a cure for you ever since. Nothing ever worked till Roman came. I’m so glad to see you awake. I was so scared to lose you.” She sobbed as she hugged him.

  • THE TRILLIONAIRE'S UNDERSTATED DOMINANCE   Invited Over

Roman pulled up to the Maxim estate the next evening. He took a moment to appreciate just how far he had come in the past few days. The mansion was ridiculously impressive—all gleaming windows, elegant stone pillars, and a front yard so perfectly manicured it almost looked fake. A week ago, a place like this wouldn’t have even let him onto the sidewalk. Now? He was walking through the front doors like a VIP guest. Life was weird. He stepped out of his car, smoothing down his black button-up shirt. He wasn’t the type to stress about things like dinner parties, but this was different. These weren’t just random rich people—this was Annabel’s family, and he could already guess they were going to want answers. About him. About how he’d saved Frank’s life. About who he really was. Of course they would. Weren't they the ones who invited him here? Before he could knock, the door opened. An old butler gave him a once-over and nodded. He was gray-haired and looked like he’d been serving th

Annabel did not want to laugh, even though it was very funny to see Janice's look of horror.Janice’s face was still very flushed. "You’re impossible," she snapped and picked up her drink. "Both of you. One day, you’ll look back and wish you’d listened to me." Freya waved as Janice stormed off. "Love you too, Aunty!" The moment Janice was out of earshot, Annabel rested completely on the lounge chair. "God, she’s so exhausting." Freya threw another grape into her mouth. "Eh, she’s just pissed because no one’s ever bought her a grand hall full of burgundy decorations." She smirked. "It was rented, Freya," Annabel rolled her eyes. Freya ignored her. "Speaking of, when do I get to meet Kade? I feel like he and I would get along." "I'm sure you guys will get along well. You're both full of humour, both dark and otherwise." Annabel said. "Hand me some of those grapes please."Freya gave her the bowl of grapes and cleared her throat. "So, when's Roman taking us to dinner?" Annabe

The next day after Roman's visit, Annabel went to talk to her aunt, Janice. She found her sitting by the pool side. The air smelled of chlorine and freshly cut grass, as well as the faint scent of citrus from Aunt Janice's perfume. Janice was sitting on the edge of a lounge chair and holding a glass of gin and tonic. Annabel sat beside her."Aunt Jan," Annabel called. Janice looked at her. "What was that about yesterday?""What was what about?" Janice feigned ignorance. Annabel sighed. "You ambushed my boyfriend back there with your weird questions. You've never done that before, why did you have to do it today? It was so embarrassing."Janice chuckled. "Oh, that? How's that embarrassing? I was only looking out for you.""And you went about it wrongly. That was his first time here as my boyfriend, and you talked about how expensive his watch is. That is just wrong, Aunt Jan." Annabel's anger was visible now. "You know you could have just let it be a nice day. Now it looks like you'

Roman did not wait to get into his living room before loosening his belt. He was very tired, even though he had spent the day doing absolutely nothing but sitting with the Maxims. He was supposed to rest from work, but decided to see them instead for Annabel's sake. He didn't have regrets of the time they spent together, but he was still exhausted.Kade looked up at him. He was sitting down and watching a show. "How'd it go?" Kade asked. "Almost fine," Roman said in a low voice. "Almost? Did something happen?" Kade asked. 'Almost fine' was not a very good response, and Roman didn't even look excited. "Well, you'd think that when you've met someone you love, that their family will just be as amazing as that person is." Roman scoffed. "Let me guess," Kade raised a finger, "her father did not like you. But you'd look much more angrier if her father didn't like him. I reckon it's some other insignificant issue. Should I be expecting a feud?""It's not a feud," Roman said. "Yet," Ka

The family ate in silence for a while before Annabel's father spoke. "I see some of your cases on the news, Roman," he said, "and you always win, which is a good thing. But don't these court wars affect your company adversely?"Roman was chewing, so he took his time before answering the question. "Well, the first case I had was against my own family members who wanted to push me out of the picture, just so they could take my company for themselves. Of course it wasn't easy, but after I got the company, I revived its finances that my extended family had managed to almost ruin. I know this happened a while back, but I just wanted to use that as an example. Once people saw the good I was doing, that made the rumours quiet ""And the other cases? Not all of them are so clean cut.""Well, it was just two. The other one was against a group of siblings who sued me for buying their father's company that he refused to give to them, because of how irresponsible they were." Roman answered. "I

When Roman returned home smiling from ear to ear, Kade knew there was good news. "I don't have to guess, do I?" Kade asked him and Roman smiled even more."She said yes," he grinned. Kade rolled his eyes. "Of course she did. Now, I can get a break from the anxious version of yourself? It's not even a marriage proposal, and you're this excited."Roman ignored him and went up to his room to change up. He hummed happily and just continued smiling. Nobody ever told him that loving someone again would be this beautiful. Not like he didn't know, but well, he was very excited. Soon, he got back down to meet Kade who was holding a glass of whiskey in one hand, and a book in the other. "Well, if you're done blushing, can we discuss business now?" Kade raised a brow. "The Valeys, you remember them right? They have sent a partnership proposal for one of their projects yet again. But this time, it looks better than the last one."Roman remembered the Valeys. "Roman, you look alright," Kade said. He was rolling his eyes for what seemed like the fiftieth time Kade scoffed. "Is this the first date you guys are having? Come on, man. You are going to be late."They were still investigating and trying to find ways to get advantage over the hunters, but life had to continue regardless.Speaking about that... Roman looked at his Cartier wristwatch. He was actually going to be late if he did not get going now. "Should I just take the tie along?" He asked Kade again. Kade shook his head and faced the television instead. "I don't think this is a serious event, because if it was, you would have left already. Poor Annabel must think she's being stood up."Roman sighed. "Kade, I am trying to impress a lady here. I could really use some help, not all those snide remarks you've been throwing at me.""You look good!" Kade exclaimed as if that would make Roman believe him. "Where did all your confidence go?""Well, if you had a love interest in your li

  • Summoning Him

The safehouse they found was a forgotten shack in the middle of nowhere. Enough to keep other hunters off their trail. The kind of place where the walls absorbed screams and the wind carried away secrets before they ever touched the air.Inside, Roman stood over their captured Hunter. The Hunter, bound to a rusted chair, looked far too comfortable for someone with a dislocated shoulder and a knife wound in his leg. He grinned through bloodied teeth, as if this was all some kind of inside joke only he was in on."You’re too late," he muttered, shaking his head. "The moment you learned the truth, you were already behind."Roman’s jaw flexed. He leaned down, resting his hands on the armrests of the chair, getting close enough that the Hunter could see the fire in his eyes. "Then let’s see how much time you have left."The Hunter just smirked.Kade, standing off to the side, exhaled sharply. "We’re wasting time. Let me handle this." His fingers twitched toward the hilt of his knife, his

  • Fortress Ambush

The fortress with its crumbling stone walls stretched toward the sky, jagged and broken, like the ribs of some ancient beast left to rot. The place reeked of decay, the air thick with dust and the distant scent of rain. This was one of the locations that they had decided would be better for their ambush plan against the hunters. Roman stood at the edge of a ridge on the fortress, scanning below. From up there, it looked like a dead place—silent, abandoned. The perfect stage for what they were about to do. He adjusted the strap of his holster, rolling his shoulders. Annabel crouched beside him, tying back her dark hair. Her eyes were sharp. "Are we sure they’ll actually show up? What if they saw through the fake intel?""They’ll show," Kade muttered. He was a few steps back, leaning against a rock wall, adjusting his rifle. His wound from the last fight was still healing, but if it hurt, he didn’t let it show. "Those people don’t ignore a lead on the book. Doesn’t matter if they smel

His smile scared Annabel a bit. “Everything?” Specter leaned back, tilting his head. “That’s a lot to ask for.
