Betrayed By His Lover

She rolled her eyes, deliberately avoiding eye contact with him.

But he continued staring at her and she gave him a firm, irritated look.

He observed her actions and the expression on her face. Was he dreaming? Could he be mistaken? Was this truly his Anna?

"Listen here, Mason, or whatever the hell your ugly name is, I want you to leave this room, or else..?" James warned.

"Or else what?" he blurted out, brimming with anger.

"Are you talking back at your boss?" James bellowed.

Mason realized this and the furrow on his brow faded, let out a sigh, and looked away.

"So now you've got the nerve, huh? But honestly, tell me, Mason, how could you be so selfish as to believe that other men wouldn't be drawn to your beautiful girlfriend?" James jeered, his fingers grazing her cheeks.

Mason's anger returned and tripled as he watched him touch her with such lustful gaze. He wanted to give him a dirty punch on his face but was barely holding back, his fists clenched tightly.

"Anna, is this truly who you've become? Is this why your attitude changed...?" he began, his voice trembling.

"Yes," she cut him off abruptly.

"And I've been dropping hints that I don't want this sick relationship anymore, but you were too blind to notice," she stated confidently, her words piercing his heart like a sharp needle.

Did she say those words to him? The person who had promised him forever.

He never anticipated that something like this would ever happen. Everything was just messed up, and he felt lost in the midst of it all.

The mere thought of losing her pained him deeply. He had never wished for a day like this to come.

Her behavior had indeed changed towards him, and that much was true.

However, he could never have imagined that she would betray him in such a way. He had trusted her, believing that she, at the very least, understood human emotions and the pain they could cause.

But now, it seemed that all his beliefs were just nothing more than him being delusional.

She came down from the bed and walked towards him. He didn't understand what she was doing but as soon as she brushed her fingers against the ring on her finger, he knew it was finally over.

"Take this ring and let's officially put an end to it," she stated coldly.

"Please, babe, I still love you. Can't we settle our differences? I could still be the man that you want," he pleaded, his heart breaking at the thought of her breaking up with him.

She lifted his hands and placed the ring in his palm, closing it shut.

"Let's bring this fake relationship to an end. Now, please leave. We were in the middle of something before you interrupted," she scoffed, rolling her eyes as she returned to the bed and kissed James.

"And hey, and make sure to close the door on your way out, and remove that hotel tag from your uniform because you're fired!" James added with a sneer.

He heard the words James spoke, but his gaze remained fixed on Anna, who wore a smile as she ran her hands over his chest.

He left the room, closing the door with a loud thud. Tears streamed down his face, but he quickly wiped them away.

He made his way to the accountant's office, as the Assistant Manager was absent. He removed the hotel tag from his uniform and placed it on the accountant's desk.

"Wow, don't tell me you've been fired?" the accountant exclaimed in surprise.

He nodded silently, about to take a step forward when the accountant called him back.

"And where the hell do you think you're going without repaying the money you borrowed from the company for your girlfriend's illness? Do you realize that your salary for two months won't even cover the loan? What do you expect me to do now?" the accountant questioned angrily.

His tired eyes lifted a little as he remembered. Why was his life so messed up?

"Please, I promise that within this month, I will repay the loan..." he pleaded.

"I'll give you until next week. If you can't repay the five thousand dollars by then, you'll face severe consequences. Do you understand?!" the accountant threatened.

He nodded sadly, his head hanging low, before shamelessly walking out of the office.

At that moment, he felt as though his life should come to an end.

He was a poor orphan boy who had received a scholarship to study in college. There, he had met Anna, who pretended to struggle with a subject and had grown so clingy to him.

He had fallen deeply in love with her, going so far as to help her cheat on exams, not knowing he was just a tool for her to pass through college.

He sat down on the floor outside the bustling streets of Bay Hills City, watching cars and motorcycles pass by while recalling everything she said to him.

Forced tears streamed down his face, even though he tried not to show the pain through his tears.

Why was he even crying for someone who didn't value his love?

He hadn't even thought of taking care of himself because her happiness was his happiness.

His mistake was falling in love with the wrong person. He opened his hands as he saw the ring, realizing she continued the relationship after college for a year out of pity. No wonder her attitude changed after school.

There was no need for him to live again because his only hope for survival had betrayed him and left him shattered.

He had no parents and no one to help him out. He struggled hard throughout his stay at college. Even though the fees were already paid for him, his food and other expenses were paid for with his sweat.

"Where is death? Why don't you come and take me now?" he said aloud as he stood up and angrily threw the ring so far that it disappeared into thin air.

He began walking slowly, hoping that a car would just come and take his life. After all, it was just meaningless.

No love, no money, no job…. Nothing at all.

Suddenly...

Vroom! Vroom!!

Three Bugatti cars screeched to a halt in front of him, causing him to flinch and wonder what was happening.

Fear gripped him as the bodyguards exited the vehicles, their expensive black suits contrasting sharply with the surroundings. They positioned themselves around him.

What is happening??

The driver came down from the middle car and opened the back seat of the car, revealing an elderly man in his late 50s. The man stepped down from the car and approached him with a warm smile on his face. "Son, I've finally found you," he said, enveloping him in a tight hug.

Confusion overwhelmed him. Why would a wealthy man like this hug him? And out of nowhere?

"I... I don't understand. I have no family and..." he stammered, trying to voice his confusion.

He couldn't help but wonder how can a rich man like him, beholding his arms like that, he looked at how sad and happy he was staring at him, as he narrowed his eyebrows.

"And what, Mason?" The man interrupted him gently, looking at him in concern.

"And what about me, Mason? Are you denying the fact that you don't recognize me? Are you still holding a grudge because I left you at the orphanage when you were little?”
