You Can't Do It Today

Anna's mother raised her eyebrow to signal that all was going well with her but Anna returned her eye contact with a fake smile acting as if everything was going well with her.

“What exactly happened? Why isn't James down here to celebrate with us?” Her mother rushed to where she stood with her hands on her shoulder.

“Mum, both happened at all. Were you expecting something bad to have happened on his special day?” She poked her nose closer to her to be sure she heard the right thing.

Anna's mother blinked her eyes while keeping a sharp gaze as James climbed the stairs to head to his private lounge.

“Not at all, my darling. I was just shocked and wasn't expecting him to go to his private lounge when every one of us is seated here waiting for him to come party with us.”

Anna cleared her throat, “But, you have me hear mum. So, why are you bothered about everything when you have me here?”
