Mia waited anxiously, checking the time every few minutes. Liam was supposed to arrive any moment now and her nerves were all over the place. Suddenly the screeching sound of tires against the gravel snapped her out of her thoughts. Without hesitation, she jumped up from the couch, her heart hammering in her chest. Laura, who had been leaning against the fireplace, pushed herself upright, already reaching for the gun tucked into her waistband.

Mia barely noticed. She was already moving, rushing toward the front door before Laura could stop her. And then the door swung open, revealing Liam on the other side. For a split second, Mia couldn’t breathe. He was alive and standing right in front of her, but she felt like she had seen a ghost.

Liam was bruised, blood splattered on his clothes and a small cut running along his jaw. Nevertheless, relief flooded through her, and before she could even think, she ran to him.

At that time, she didn’t care that she was still mad at him, didn’t care

Liam’s gaze met hers, steady and unwavering. Although part of the reason why he started this was for revenge, it had become more than that. “No.” He paused. “It started as revenge. But now? It’s about justice and stopping a psychopath.” He said.Mia sucked in a shaky breath, her mind racing. She had wanted answers. Now she had them. But they were nothing like what she expected and also not easy to accept. Liam had been carrying this for years. Alone. And now, by being with him, she was tangled in it too. Could she handle it? Someone who could help him heal from his past. She remained quiet for a while, searching her mind for anything to say. Despite Liam’s explanations, there was still a lot that was not clear to her, a lot she still needed to figure out. But before she could say anything, Liam’

At the end of the day, this was not her usual life. She’d never even held a gun or fought anybody? How was she supposed to fend off against thugs, mercenaries, and skilled assassins?“You okay?” Liam’s voice interjected as he glanced at her through the rearview mirror.“Yeah-um… yeah,” Mia muttered and shifted her gaze away, refusing to say anything else. This was bigger than her now and even though she wasn’t sure how she could help, there was no backing out.Liam drove steadily, occasionally glancing at her, his face filled with worry. He’d seen it happen before. This world had a way of corrupting even the purest hearts. It’s what happened to him. When this whole thing started, it was just about getting his revenge, but as things unfolded, he began to realize that the killing, the power oppression, it didn’t bother him as much anymore. This was simply life now.“Liam, are you coming?” Laura’s voice interjected, breaking him out of his thoughts.“Yeah, uh- just give me a minute,” Liam replied and opened a hidden compartment under his seat. He’d always kept a gun there for emergencies. As he pulled it out, he hesitated for a moment. This was supposed to be a civil meeting, but after everything that had happened, Liam knew he could not allow himself to be completely unprotected here. Not with all the security detail Jonah had brought with him. With that flowing in his mind, he slid the gun behind his back and stepped out of the car.“Isn’t Jack joining us?” Mia asked curiously.“Jack is occupied with another mission ri

  • THE VENGEFUL HEIR   Council Meeting

Jonah turned to Liam with a slight smirk, “Isn’t that so, Mr. Moran?” He paused, but Liam didn’t speak.“Councilmen, I’m sure you have all seen the reports on the news. Mr. Moran has been actively trying to smear Peter’s reputation for reasons I don’t fully understand. That’s why he’s doing this again. I assure you that the building poses no threat to this city, and this is just an attempt from a man who holds personal bias. Surely, we can’t let him have his way.” Jonah said and sat down. The council head shifted his gaze to Liam, his eyes narrowing slightly, “Do you have any other thing you want to add?” The man asked.Liam hesitated for a moment, then shifted his gaze to Mia. He gave her an appreciative nod, “Go ahead.”Mia heaved a deep breath and stood up, “If I may, councilmen,” she started, shifting her gaze across the room, “Some of you may know me. I’m Mia Stevens, the first daughter of the Stevens family. Recently my family has been caught in a chaotic web with the Nelsons as

The council hall remained in deep silence following Mia’s words. A line was drawn and a decision had to be formed. Some members of the council argued that Mia’s accusations were baseless and there was actually no way to prove any of the things she had said. For all they knew, Jonah was right and this was just her way of getting back at Peter for everything that had happened to her family.Meanwhile, others believed that Jonah was Peter’s accomplice, and turning a blind eye to the dangers that this building posed was mad. Some time passed and after much deliberation, the council finally returned.“We’ve given this some deep thought.” The council head began. Jonah leaned forward, his eyes flashing with an unreadable look.“We’ve agreed that we can’t make a strong decision on this yet. While there is no evidence to support Ms. Stevens's claims, we cannot also rule out the possibility that what she’s saying may be true, and if we make any decision and it turns out that she was right, we’l

Seeing that Liam was paying no mind to him, Jonah groaned and stepped forward. “Watch your back, Liam. You may have my cousin bowing at your feet and worshipping you, but you don’t want to have me as an enemy.” Jonah said and without waiting for a response, turned and walked away. However, before he could get far, Liam’s voice suddenly sounded, “Guess we’ll find out in twenty-four hours. But a word of advice. It’s not too late to back out now and correct your wrong. You may think that Peter is your savior or even friend, but he’s worse than me, and trust me, you really don’t want to find out the hard way.” Jonah stopped, then slowly turned, a wry smirk appearing on his face, “I’ll take my chances.” He said and walked away. After he left, Liam sat for a while longer, reflecting on his next moves, but then Mia’s voice interjected softly, “Liam,” she c

The air was thick with tension. Liam, Mia, and Laura stood in the middle of the abandoned road, surrounded by Jonah’s men. Their breaths were shallow, and their hearts pounding. Jonah’s men already had their guns raised, waiting for the order to shoot. The case in Liam’s hands felt heavier than ever. He looked around and for the first time, felt trapped. Jonah took a slow step forward, his smirk never fading. “This doesn’t have to be difficult,” he said smoothly, motioning to the case. “Hand it over, and we all walk away from this.”Liam’s grip tightened on the case. He knew that was a lie. There was no walking away. Not for them. The moment he handed that case over, Jonah would turn on them so fast, and as such he couldn’t give up their only leverage at the moment. He waited, listening keenly, waiting for the right time, and just then Jack’s voice sounded softly in his earpiece. “Liam, I have a shot. Say the word.”However, he didn’t answer. Not yet. There was no escape.“Come on Liam, you don’t have so much time. This truck is going to fall off any moment now. Ha

As he arrived at Taeger, the room was quiet, too quiet for something that carried so much weight. Liam sat alone at the long glass table, his back straight, expression unreadable. The walls were white, clinical, but the air was thick with tension. Around him, the Tribunal members took their seats—six in total. At the head of the room stood Senator Vaughn, hands behind his back, wearing that usual smug look like he already knew the outcome.“Since Mr Moran has decided to join us today, the meeting will now begin,” one of the older members announced. “We are here to review the ownership and handling of Peter Harrow’s estate, specifically research rights,
