CHAPTER 46

Just as Harvey had suspected, Halle hurried back to the city. She barged into the Crawford's mansion, where she found Margaret and Serena attending to a somber crowd of people who had come to pay their condolences.

As Halle stepped in, the room fell silent. All eyes turned to her, their gazes piercing through her like daggers.

"I hope you're both satisfied now that he's finally gone," Halle spat, her voice filled with bitterness. She locked eyes with Serena, who tried to hide her guilt behind a facade of indifference.

Margaret's face contorted with anger, taking a step closer to Halle. "If you're here to cause a scene, I suggest you leave immediately. I won't allow you to tarnish your father's memory in such a disgraceful manner," she seethed, her voice dripping with contempt.

Halle couldn't help but laugh, her laughter echoing through the room. "Disrespecting his memory? Suddenly, that matters to you? How convenient," halle’s words laced with sarcasm.
