Chapter 109

Nathan and Avery strode to the cafeteria. Charles and Henry were already settled at the first booth when they arrived.

When the boys saw Avery, they gave warm smiles.

“Perfect. It’s good that you are here Avery. It’s always a table for two or four after all.” Henry said.

Avery sat right next to Nathan. “Why didn’t you guys tell me Nathan’s dad was ill?”

Charles and Henry exchanged blank glances and when they turned to Nathan, he blinked at them.

Avery dropped her book on the table. “I was mad at him for not showing up at the millionaire’s party you know. I just learned that he had to take care of his sick dad that night.”

She sighed and threw her back against the chair.

Nathan cleared his throat and propelled one of the menu cards to her. “Forget about it. Let’s have lunch.”

They took the menu cards and had barely gone through them when murmurs broke out in the cafeteria.
