Mike traced his way up the staircase. He got to Nathan’s room and stroke the doorbell. Nathan stood before the compartment of his closet which contained various designs of tuxedos. With two fingers on his lips, he kept roving his eyes around the closet, looking for the perfect outfit to grace the board meeting His phone began to ring. He moved to the edge of his bed, grabbed the phone, and responded to the call. “Hey, Charles.” It was their lecture-free day so none of the boys was in school. “Where are you? Fredrick wiped his mouth with the edge of his palms. He had just learned from one of his lawyers that there was no way out. It was either he takes the offer Mike was delivering or he ends up in court and with the evidence the Alcantaras had against him and Dory, their chances of winning were zero. “I learned that the FBI is on your radar.” Mike spat. He was facing the helpless Fredrick. “I heard that it has something to do with drug smuggling,” Mike added. Fredrick’s brows were furrowing in rage. “First, it was your son hitting a helpless girl then one of your companies gets shut down because of some suspected drug dealing initiative and now, you are conspiring to steal Phoenix.” Mike asserted. The murmurs in the board room transcended to noise. Fredrick knew they were talking about him. Dory got to the reception and noticed a box parked with her items. With her face fixated on the floor, she moved to the counter and swept the carton from the desk. Rose and the other employees were whispering about Dory’s mischief because word has already gone around the company about the act. Dory felt the eyes of the employees like knives on her body. She pressed the box to herself and strode to the parking lot with her head lowered. At the parking lot, she came in contact with a few employees talking in low tunes and immediately after they caught a glimpse of her, they dispersed. With a sigh, Dory threw her box into the back seat of her car. She then got into her vehicle and drove away, leaving Phoenix for good. A few minutes after Dory hit the road, she broke into tears.
