Smith stood before the large dressing mirror in front of him and heaved a deep sigh. It was a new day, the day he takes over as one of messengers at the company of his benefactors.Looking intensely at his reflection, Smith wasn’t sure of anything any more. The office instantly became blurred through Smith’s eyes. Samson’s voice was now a background noise and all Smith could see was himself, seated on Mr. Carson’s desk, going through some files. Smith shut his eyes and groaned slightly, trying to kick off the memories or better still, try to see if they’ll make sense but it was always a mixture of blurred images that came with slight head aches. While his eyes remained shut, Smith saw himself going through documents and dishing out instructions to someone whose face was not clear. When Smith opened his eyes, he saw Lisa sitting on the table facing their king-size bed. He sat up and immediately used the back of his palm to prevent a yawn from slipping out of his mouth. Lisa’s hands were cradling a cup of tea and when Smith looked intensely at her, he realized that she was in a night robe. “Shit!” He mumbled and turned to the wall clock. It was a few minutes past 9 pm. This meant that he had been asleep for over 3 hours. After fixing a meal for Elle, Smith headed to the bedroom and decided to lay asleep for a while before he ordered dinner and that was how he ended up dozing for 3 hours straight. “You’re awake!” Lisa said and placed her cup of tea right next to her computer. Smith arrived at the office at quarter past 8 am and by the time he walked in, Mr. Carson’s office was already sparkling and Samson was setting the desk. It was clear that Samson showed up 30 minutes before Mr. Carson as he stated and even though the cleaners were up to the task, he deemed it fit to supervise them and always gave the final touches. “Good morning.” Smith greeted.
