Chapter 06 - Emergency meeting

The announcement that the ownership of the Emerald has been changed and the news about how Emerald has cut all the ties with The Moore family shook the entire White bridge town.

When the Taylor family heard about the news, they figured out that the reason that the ties with the Moore family has been cut off was probably that the new owner of the Emerald didn't think much of the Moore family.

Rather than that, Lord Taylor was shaking with anger when the news reached his ears.

He wanted to call off the marriage of Erza with Joseph at that exact movement but he knew that even if the Moore family had no ties with Emerald, they would still be stronger than the Taylors and without anything to guarantee, he couldn't lose the ties, so he could grit his teeth and bear it with for now.

Back to the point, Even after all these changes, one question remains in everyone's mind. 

Who was the new owner of Emerald? He simply bought the Emerald which was worth more than 10 billion like it was nothing overnight!!

Even though all the prominent families had tried to find the identity of that individual nothing about them has been found as of yet and the only thing that they got to know was that the Emerald is starting a new project for building a hospital near a remote village and the tender bidding for it will be held in next week.

And by the information that was revealed about the project, it seemed like Emerald was investing more than a billion dollars for this project!

A freeking billion!

They could make a lot of money even if they tender the scraps of the project!

When a delicious cake is in front, everybody wanted a piece of it. so it was inevitable that all the families and companies would go crazy over the project!

and the same thing was happening in the Taylor family!

Lord Taylor immediately called an emergency meeting for all the branch families around the state.

And she was brainstorming various ideas about how they could achieve a breakthrough in this Emerald's Megaproject!

later in the same night, to the main family villa, roger accompanied Hestia, since Lord Taylor has asked for the attendance of all family members, he had to come.

He knew that the Oldman was crazy about money and would do anything to have a part in this project! But Roger had something else on his mind!

Right as he was about to enter the Villa, a familiar voice called him out!

"damn you, Roger! How can you be so shameless, how dare you show up in the main villa even after Lord Taylor warmed you to get out?", It was henry, Erza's brother who was once again trying to pick a fight with Roger.

But the one who answered his question wasn't Roger but his lovely wife, Hestia.

"Will you please mind your own business, Henry? Grandpa asked for everyone's presence, and since Roger is my husband, of course, as a member of the Taylor family, he has every right to participate in the meeting", She said with an indifferent face.

Henry sneered at her in dismay "A member of the family? who? that useless piece of crap? He is just a useless live-in son-in-law"

"Stop your Nonsense, Henry. I will not overlook another word towards Roger"

Hestia shouted at Joseph in anger.

Roger rubbed his nose in slight agitation and said to Hestia, "Don't argue with him, Hestia. Let's go in quickly, Grandpa is waiting."

Hestia nodded at his words and entered the house with Roger without even batting an eye at Henry.

Henry's face twisted in anger but he calmed himself down anticipating their disgrace later.

Ignoring him, Roger and Hestia entered the house and found a seat at the corner to sit.

Shortly after, Lord Taylor made a great entrance and the family meeting officially began.

James Taylor, the Lord of the Taylor family took the seat at the head of the table.

Tick! Tick!

He knocked on the table, rather cheerfully unlike how he was when he heard the news about Moore's family.

"The time has finally come for us, the Taylor family. A chance us for to become the peak of White bridge has finally appeared"

He continued loudly, "We absolutely couldn't miss this chance, The Emerald company has announced tender bidding for the construction of a hospital in a  remote village, no matter what we have to obtain it, by all means, it is a chance for our family to rise to next level".

"Moreover now that the owner of the Emerald has been changed, if we manage to make a good impression with the new chairman, we will become very powerful and prominent in the future"

Unlike Lord Taylor who was explaining the things with great excitement and interest, the attendees of the meeting seemed indifferent and unpassionate about his enthusiasm.

In fact, it wasn't a new thing that the Taylor family wanted to have collaboration with the Emerald company, they have been trying that for a very long time now! But the problem was that in the face of huge companies like Emerald which operated throughout the states, it was very hard for them to even approach them.

Instead, the family members were wondering what made this senile Oldman think that they could obtain the tender now, surpassing all the prominent families?

It surely just seemed like the Old man has gone senile!

Of course, they didn't dare to say any of that out loud, it would be stupid of them to do so.

Lord Taylor was the head of the Taylors and since the last patriarch passed away, he had been ruling the whole family with an Iron fist, so one wanted to get on his bad side.

Annoyed by the long silence, Lord Taylor burst out "Why are you all silent? Are you all dumb? Do no one here have the confidence to take even the slightest piece f one billion project?"

Everyone made nervous eye contact and kept their head down, no one wanted to look at the Lord right now.

Getting more agitated by their silence, Lord Taylor growled "Listen, Whoever manages to get at least a ten million dollars from the Emerald, I will make them the director of all pour business"

Everyone's jaw dropped to the ground hearing her.

Making them the director of the business? what was this bullshit? When did the Lord become this generous?

Such questions were going on all their heads, it was normal since the Director of the company would hold enormous power in his hands, except for the chairman and the CEO, He would be the one with the most power in the family. 

Normally it was a position that was reserved for the official heir of the family but since the Lord was making this announcement, it meant that whoever manages to become the Director would be the next head of the family!!

Although the reward was lucrative, no one in the meeting came forward to take the mission!

Striking deal with Emerald and obtaining a 10 million dollar part of the project? they would be better off finding a hundred-dollar note on the streets! Even if the family head himself went to talk with them, it seemed impossible to accomplish!

The conference all becomes as quiet as a church.

Lord Taylor slammed the table in shame and stood up looking at Henry, "all you descendent of the Taylor family, can't even do this simple job? Henry, I am passing this Job to you"

Lord Taylor had been supporting Henry from the back all this time, and it was his intention to make him an heir of the Taylor family, so he obviously asked him.

Henry managed a bitter laugh and quickly said, "Grandpa, even the Moore family has been kicked out of emerald. Our family is lower level than them, how can we strike a deal with them..."

The Lord's rage went through the roof as he chimed "You useless bastard! How dare to chicken out even before trying? You are more hopeless than that bastard Roger"

Actually, even Lord Taylor himself didn't have any confidence in this project, but he still wanted to try their luck! But e didn't expect that no one among his family would come forward to take the job!

He thought at least his trusted grandson Henry would accept the task willingly, but it seemed like he was a coward bastard who would hide in the presence of true problems!!

Lord Taylor glared at the rest of them, "What about you all? Is there no one who would take this challenge?"

And at this movement, a hand was slowly raised somewhere in the corner of the Conference room.

Everyone turned around to see who it was and they were all left shocked by seeing who it was!!
