Flay arrived in the oasis and could see the Bewilderbisons feeding on the marsh that grows nearby. The strange thing was that the Kragg Hippose were not alarmed by the heard but welcomed them.
“Strange…”
“What is it, Master?”
“The interaction of these monsters… I thought the Kragg Hippos would get all territorial with a herd of Bewilderbisons approaching since it would mean their food supply would decrease. But the Hippos actually welcomed them!”
“What does this mean, Master?”
“I don’t know. I should have paid more attention to the classes in the village regarding the Three Hs. In any case, I need to get this green plant essence off me! Otherwise, the hippo or the bison will eat me!”
Flay ran and jumped into the water to wash away the plant essence. However, it was very cold, and Flay quickly moved out and used the python’s heat.
The Kragg Hippos and the Bewilderbisons were looking intently at Flay.
“What? You guys haven’t seen a guy heat himself up with a Monster Core?” Flay frowned.
The hippos and bisons began to distance themselves from Flay. But they did not show any aggression.
“They even welcomed me here! I thought they would at least intimidate me!” Flay was amazed.
“Master, could it be that they too are desperate for allies?”
“That would be it. But this is good for us. At least, we can live through the night. I doubt anyone would guard here. I’ll just make some leaf covering to shade me from the heat later on.” Flay began to work quickly. He didn’t know how many hours he had left until sunrise, so he quickly created a shade through the branches and thick leaves he found.
Soon, Flay had a little tent which he placed right next to the pond.
He sank his Taming Hand in the cold water along with the branches of wood he carried earlier.
“Kairo. You decide which to work on first. Create more of those stamina pills with these Ever Itch branches. And devour the rest of the Bewilderbeast Core. But save the python’s core for now.”
“Understood, Master. Please, rest quietly. I will be drawing the power of Neptune to help you replenish your vigor. That will be my priority.”
“Alright… Kairo. You keep watching. Slimes don’t need to sleep, right?”
“Don’t worry, Master. I’ll absorb energy and peak out.”
“Thanks.” Flay smiled. Immediately after that, Flay fell asleep. With his alertness and guard dropped, his body succumbed to the fatigue.
“...He fainted? Master must have been in a more troubling condition than I thought.” Kairo began to work and started to gather the water energy to heal Flay and use some to constantly try to remove the strange seal in Flay’s Taming Hand.
“The Eos would not be so naive as to leave me to Pluton! If this is Pluton, why did they seal me? My Masters are not reckless. And this Pluton used to be a part of them! Could it be that Pluton’s system is sealed in Master? Is that why he has great hearing, a vision that can see through the dark, and an unnatural resistance to cold?” Kairo began to think about the strange things of his master secretly.
“And that terrifying battle instinct! He fought and survived against two beasts surpassing his realm! Not many can do that! How many geniuses would have the wit and reaction of my Master?” Kairo began to heal and unseal.
Two hours passed, and the sky began to lighten up.
The heat of the sun quickly arrived, and the cold temperature in the lands dropped.
Flay was still unconscious, but Kairo had progressed as he gathered a significant amount of water energy from the pool.
The pool was teeming with life essence from all the plants that fueled it. Kairo knew that this must have been related to the Three H that Flay talked about.
Hours passed, and the cool shade protected Flay, and the water energy kept Flay protected from the arid lands. As a result, Flay didn’t even perspire from the heat.
Inside the Taming Hand’s soul space, Kairo’s body was seated atop the Taming Jewel as it continued to use the energy to break it. The monster core of the Bewilderbison had been fully absorbed, and with that energy, Kairo attacked the seal in the Taming Jewel.
BOOM!
At the attack, the seal finally broke!
Flay woke up from the power and felt a strange syncing of power was occurring between him and Kairo.
---
Sol System is assimilating with Flay Eulser….
Assimilation Complete!
Taming Hand has acquired the power to wield the powers of the Sol Eos!
---
The strange words began to appear in Flay’s vision.
“Wha-what the?!” Flay was started as he woke up.
“Finally…” Kairo was relieved.
“Kairo? What happened?”
“You finally received the Sol System. There was a seal that was blocking the Sol System from syncing with your soul! But I spent the night removing it from your Taming Jewel, and as I removed part of the seal, the Sol powers finally synced with your soul!”
“What do you mean? I thought I had it already?”
“No. My powers were supposed to be shared with my master. But that seal was stopping the power of the Eos from flowing in you. Now it can. It means that you have acquired the Blessing of the Sol Eos. You can use their system. At your current level, you may choose one power among the Systems that I have to take for your own.”
“My own? Do you mean I can use it? If I take Venus’s powers, I would have the ability to absorb fire?”
“Yes, Master! You see, I theorized that your Taming Jewel is more than just a jewel. It is your soul.”
“It’s my soul?”
“To be more specific, the jewel inside the realm of your Taming Hand is your very soul. I was curious why my power couldn’t sync with you since we met. And when I saw your Taming Hand and the seals that covered it, I knew that this was the cause.”
“Why was it sealed?”
“I don’t know, Master. The truth is, I only removed one layer of this seal. From the looks of it, there are many more seals to destroy! But I’m too weak! I need to reach the next level of the Sol System. So you have to upgrade all Systems for me to destroy the next seal!”
“What?! Is it that strong? Aren’t you like an assistant to gods? And even you can’t break this seal?”
“It is indeed a curious thing. Master. Now that our souls are linked, I can no longer hide the secrets I have kept. I saw something the first time I destroyed the obstruction of energy. There seem to be two curses in your body. The first one was a seal that seems to have been affecting all your tribe. But this is the weaker one. It is made of man. But there is another curse in your body that is of godly origin. And this might be the key to your very unique abilities in hearing, seeing, and your resistance against the cold.”
“Godly origin? What have you not been telling me?”
“My apologies, master. I kept this a secret since I was not sure what to make of it. But now I will tell you the vision I saw back when I was absorbing and sending the energy of the Gators monster core to you!”
Kairo revealed everything with the link in their soul and how Kairo was bound to servitude. The sight of the Eight Eos and the attack on Pluton. And the mysterious words that the Eos spoke to Kairo at the end of the vision.
Flay was stunned silent at Kairo’s revelation.
“What does this mean? Pluton was sealed in you?” Flay asked.
“I didn’t understand, Master. But in my life of service, they never sealed anything in me. That vision must have happened after I was locked away and sealed.”
“Then, who was this Pluton?”
“I believe… he is you, master.”
“Me?! How can it be me? I found it in that pool!”
“No, Master. You didn’t find me in that pool. You released me in it. I was sealed inside this Taming Hand. The pool you found was perfect for me to create a body, and that was why I came to be. This is why your Taming Hand turned from Black to Red. You didn't awaken me from a mysterious slumber. I was sealed inside your Taming Hand. And when I came out, your seal vanished.” Kairo finally revealed.
“You… You were in me?”
“Yes, Master. That is the only logical explanation. Monsters like to create a cultivation mucus. The Pteranodon was trying to mutate or evolve. It was creating that pool for it to cover itself in as it undergoes a metamorphosis. That was what the pool was. It was valuable, but it never had the power to contain me. But a tribe of lost Summoners would have the ability to seal my soul inside. You mentioned that you are an orphan, correct?”
“Yeah… The Tamers told me that my father left me to them and then vanished…”
“Then… what am I?”
“I do not know, Master. What I do know is that I am bound to serve you. And that you are in danger right now. And your village is on the brink of annihilation.” Kairo reminded.
“What I do know is that you have the power to save them. And what I do know is that my masters, the Eos, wouldn’t be so reckless as to seal me in Pluton without any reasons.”
Flay was silent at first, but Kairo's words made Flay remember his village.
“You’re right…! Right now, I need to live and get out of this alive!” Flay slowly tried to stand up.
“WHAT?! MOTHER CRITCHES!” Flay cursed out a vulgar phrase that his village used.
“Master?! What happened?!”
“I…”
“Master… Did you… pee on yourself…?” Kairo finally noticed that the ground under Flay was wet.
“My hand was submerged the entire night! And I’ve drank a lot of water!” Flay defended.
“What an amazing power the great Pluton has! The very earth softens where he lies.” Kairo laughed.
Flay was about to answer in anger when a more sinister thought surfaced.
“Kairo. Clean the ground up. I command you.”
“Ma-Master…?!”
“What? Is there a problem? You absorbed gator spit? What’s a little pee from your master?”
“The- the.. Pteranodon! It will detect me!”
“Liar. I can sense no Death Mark in you. Our link has allowed me to sense it clearly! It must have been eliminated when our two souls resonated and synchronized! Do it!”
“No…! Anything but that, master! My dignity!”
“You should have thought about that before you insulted your master.” Flay sneered.
“Master! I can show your stats now! Our link has allowed my system to synchronize with your stats!”
“My stats?” Flay was intrigued.
“Yes, master! The Eos created this as a means to identify and quantify the powers of a person! I believe these stats will intrigue you! It will show you… MASTER! NO! PLEASE NO! MERCY!”
“I am Pluton! The God of Death! Why would I be merciful?!” Flay began to push Kairo on the small pool that Flay had created.
As Kairo suffered an embarrassing predicament, several kilometers from the oasis that Flay was in was a wearied woman.
She was in tears as the Azure Stallion that carried her had finally died from the heat and wounds it received. But the woman knew she couldn’t mourn the death of this beast but had to keep on moving.
She covered her face with a thick cloak and kept on moving through the great heat. Her stallion had sensed the abundant water and was already headed towards it. But alas, it died. The woman could only hope that she could reach the oasis before she succumbs to the heat.
On the right arm of this woman was a strange green jewel. Just like Flay, this woman had a Taming Hand.
Kairo couldn’t believe what he had done. It was one thing when he would experiment with the hazardous waste of creatures to create elements; it was another to clean up little nighttime accidents.“Alright. What are my stats?” Flay asked immediately.“...Master. I’m still processing that nightmare.”“That should make you more afraid of what I, your Master, can make you do! But anyway, let’s move on. You’re a slime. You’ve dived down the bowels of beasts, for crying out loud.”
The anger and frustration that Flay felt all those years began to flash through his eyes. He had gone through intense bullying, mocks, and jeers from those who were of his generation.Flay was an orphan and grew up challenging his friends to various contests of strengths. He would always win and was seen as a genius. But he soon became a fallen genius. He failed when he claimed he had finally reached Rookie-4 and took the test. And the result of the test was rather embarrassing. The Strength Measuring Sto
“The horror… The horror…” Kairo was clumped to the side and felt so… dirty.Never before was he used as a soap.“Ah, get over it! You can dive into monsters and move in their guts without a problem! Why are you being so dramatic after I used you like a bar of soap? Relax, Majekon!"Kairo was still weeping."Why don't you try and be someone else's soap!" Kairo wept."I guess you have a point there. Well, actually, I’ve been thinking about it… Since you are a slime, can you merge with other slimes? Can you control them? Because, if I had several of you, I could have several Slimes with a specific Sol System. Won’t that make me greater than the mages in the town? And that way, id' have plenty of soap to use.”“I… never thought about
Splash! Splash! The angry Xandra rose from the waters. But the nearby Kragg Hippos and the Bewilderbisons were now glaring at them.“If we fight any more, these beasts will kick us out of this Habitat! Calm down! And stop exaggerating! What happened?” Flay asked.“It’s your fault! You and that stupid ears of yours! We should have never followed you to that cave! The Might Wolves attacked!”“The Elite Tamers decided that. I acted on orders and led them to that cave because of the thump! You were there that night! After we successfully tamed the Spike Tortoise, everyone decided to turn this hunting expedition into one that was to understand the changes in the Homeostasis in this land! The Master of the Hunt, Glum, asked me to do this! Why are you blaming and attacking me for following orders? And the Tamers are strong! Have
Two large leaves were seen moving across the desert. The desert was a wide, open land that stretched out endlessly with dunes rising and falling, making it impossible to see the distant terrain. But despite this, Xandra was still a Tamer of Monster’s Edge. And as a woman, her initial training was that of the Scouting Tamers. And so, despite her previous panicked retreat to escape the Might Wolves who chased her deep into the Desert Lands, she still managed to take note of the terrain and knew the path that would lead them into the Craggy Rock Plains. But the journey of the two tamers was very quiet. Flay knew that Xandra still blamed him for the death of her friend. They continued to move, and Flay simply watched Xandra take the lead. Finally, Flay spoke.“Erm… I need to get something there. Desert Vultures are there, and
Flay and Xandra continued to race towards the edge of the Desert Lands. The journey now no longer had the same tension as it did before. Xandra was kinder when talking to Flay. But Flay did his best to remain calm and not initiate any conversation about how he survived as he knew that if Xandra was genuinely interested and was willing to listen to the impossible deeds of Flay, she would ask her.Xandra asked about Flay strength and even asked for Flay to show his true strength.“I guess we’ll wait for an enemy. How about this, if we see few vultures trying to devour something, then let’s kill one. We are getting closer to the end of this Desert Land, right? I can feel that the ground below is not made of pure sand but have a mixture of soil.”“Yes. We’re getting closer to the end of the Desert Land. That’s one of the
Xandra charged forward and began to give continuous quick stabs to harass the vultures. Flay was in no position to fight as he was still recovering from his current form.Xandra was furious at the stupidity of Flay, who rushed forward and suddenly decided to bury his face on the sands.STAB! STAB! STAB!Xandra’s spear managed to stab the vulture's body, but each stab only produced shallow wounds. Her attacks were fast and steady, but the defenses of the vulture were much stronger than the damage Xandra was inflicting. The numerous wounds still annoyed the vulture, and it finally screeched and flew up. As the first vultures charge was stopped, it flew up high so its allies would finish the job.Xandra kept stabbing as the vulture flew up. She was des
The desert heat was no longer a problem to Xandra and Flay. The two rode the Unicorn, who managed to carry them with ease. The leaves the pair used as umbrellas provided great shade for them. And along the way, Flay found plants and cactuses and began to gather water and plant essence to rejuvenate and protect everyone from the wild battles they had. They continued to hurry to the path where Xandra saw the slime colony was. Without knowing what state the Grass Land was in, the two decided strengthening Kairo was a top priority. Flay and Xandra began to talk more about their power along the way, and Flay continued to list out the possibilities that Kairo pointed out. But Flay presented these facts as wild theories. “So you think that ev
Flay was even more intrigued. He had just shown the entire Beastmaster tribe his ability, yet they were certain he would die.He had just fought against an Expert, and while others were skeptical of his attempts, it was still a very impressive feat.“I guess I shouldn’t press my luck. Besides, there are more important matters at hand… This place has too many enemies. I have to also regain much of my lost strength and awaken the Eos System.” Flay decided. If this Chimera was something so powerful that everyone was convinced he was still inadequate, he would have to pursue other means to gain strength.“What is this… chimera?” Estelle asked in the midst of the angry accusations of Darwood and Trailtree.“My king… That is the beast that we have sealed long ago. The creature who was once sealed at the death of my great grandfather.” Primeroot finally spoke.“Trovine Primeroot… The greatest Beast Master who achieved the impossible and reached beyond Great Expert…” The King recalled.“Yes.
Narood and the other experts and high-level adjuncts returned with a rather confident look on themselves.“It seems you finally are agreeing.” Flay smiled.“We will agree. That staff is too much of a prize for us. But... Instead of Tenscream, we will offer you another beast instead. An Expert just like Tenscream. But, you have to tame it. You are confident of taming them, aren’t you?” Narood smiled.“Hmmm... Depends. I’m not saying that I can tame any and all monsters. There are several that will take a lot of effort.” Flay recalled the monsters he faced in his world. Particularly, the Carcadon.“I wonder if they tamed him?” Flay thought to himself. The strange expression and distant gaze of Flay irritated the beastmasters.“Then since we are all agreed...” Narood smiled.“Go and start taming them. Of course, we will set a time limit. You have five minutes! Show us! Show us how one can be the pack leader of the wolves!” Narood taunted.Everyone gave a curious look at Flay.“Here’s a l
Flay's words caused a great commotion and surprise to all who listened.Zegwood was shocked at Flay's declaration. But as a few seconds passed, the arrogant rookie's implication and demand slowly settled in his head."What?! A mere Rookie demands to take away my Tamed Beast?!""I already took control of it and made it attack you. Why not?" Flay sneered."That...! That was a trick! An evil trick!""So? I have the skill! Has anyone ever controlled your monster apart from yourself?" Flay countered."My monster is linked to my staff! Without the staff, you wouldn't have tamed it!""Did anyone manage to tame your beast using the staff?" Flay asked. There was silence as everyone awkwardly looked at each other.Zegwood was turning blue from holding back his breath and the urge to smack the kid before him."And you were doing a poor job at managing the kennels, I'll tell you that much. The wolves would grow stronger if allowed to roam in the wild. I was only planning to tame a few wolves and
The three generals revealed their power, which made the beastmasters cower. These were the strongest generals who often guarded the walls! But as Kairo had explained, they were actually weaker! Most of the Experts didn't pay much heed to this. After all, the three could have only revealed whatever portion of their power they were comfortable with.Only those who knew of the poison were delighted at how fast the progress was. A few months ago, no changes could be seen. But now, it was becoming increasingly clear."... It's so rare to see all three of you abandon your post. Especially now that the Beast of Dark Savagery lingers outside our walls." Narood answered. His eyes had an arrogance in him, for he knew, soon, he would surpass these three!"The Beast of Dark Savagery has all been slain. Remember their sudden retreat in the last war? They were being summoned. And they were all killed by the Master of that boy you are trying to kill." Holy Knight Galavus answered with certainty.Eve
The people who closed the doors were now panicking to open the gates. They were being forced to keep them closed as one of the prominent beast-taming families gave the orders not to let anyone in. But now, with their lives and families on the line, no one dared to keep the gates closed and be charged with treason.Holy Knight Galavus was famous for the incident known as the Path of Red that occurred in the previous wars against the Joverus Kingdom Alliance. It was here that the power of the Kalenshore Kingdom was revealed. For while the rest practiced magic, they combined it with Brute power and revolutionized warfare. At the center of all this was Holy Knight Galavus, who was the strongest and eventually led the other Experts to his path. When a great battle between the kingdoms happened, an ambush forced the King to retreat.Galavus stayed and fought against several Experts and an army. But his defenses were simply too firm, and his Brute, too powerful that all the magics that struck
Flay continued his casual stroll about the kennels and observed the wolves one at a time.Secretly, Kairo was busy wandering just like a casual slime would and would approach the kennels. But unknown to them, the slime was draining the magic from the kennels as it moved from one place to the other.“Flay!” Darwood shouted as he rushed towards his ally. The rest of the team followed, except Vem.“You are being summoned back.” Darwood spoke. All of them could not look Flay in the eyes after they were all berated for accepting bribes.Flay shrugged and moved with them, but his slimes continued to wander about. No one took any concern of the slimes and walked back.Behind him was the chaos of the ongoing debate.“Where is he?!” An enraged official demanded.“Bring him back here before that troublemaker starts creating more chaos!”“He is here!” Darwood called out.“What’s going on?” Flay asked Darwood.Darwood looked very angry, annoyed at Flay’s casual behavior, and even wandered out.Da
The crowd was silenced by Flay's suggestion. If the Princess was saved, she could clarify everything being discussed."I'm sure she would settle and fix everything here." Flay also added."If it's the princess…" One of the High Adepts thought."The Princess? Why would we bring her here? Is she even the Princess?" The expert that healed Tenscream asked."What do you mean by... that?" Ephesus frowned."We know that within the kingdom, assassinations and infiltrations have happened. The Dark Priest enlists Mimics who have entered this city. Have you tested her to see if she is a mimic?""If you think mere mimics can stand before us and fool us, then we would not have been her guard! Is not Vallenhall with us?" Ephesus challenged."Indeed. Great Experts. I am High Adept Terence. Lava Mage and Formation Specialist. This was a suspicion we had, and I already used an area magic to see whether or not she was the Princess. After all, Mimics are fearful of the fire. But the Princess shot her ma
The fight and even the interruption of the Expert happened so fast.Apart from Ephesus, all of the allies of the Princess were watching from the side. The traitor Vem couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. He hoped the boy would die, but the battle that transpired before him ended with an Expert down on the ground. If he hadn’t seen it, he wouldn’t have believed that a Rookie was able to bringThe strongest members of the Beast Master clan arrived.Surrounding the few Experts were also members of the tribe's elites. The commotion had caused anyone near to scurry over to see what had happened. The strongest high-level Adepts accompanied the few experts. The Expert, who shouted at Flay and summoned a powerful Brute voice, was startled at his fast reaction. One of the Adepts had moved over to the frog, and by injecting Brute, the energy invading the frog’s heart was dispelled. To hide his secret, Flay stopped pressuring the frog by enslaving it with his Pluton powers. The staff tha
Because of Flay’s innate ability to gauge a person's Brute and Magic energy, Flay could quickly tell where he could land a powerful damage. He knew that Ephesus would go to his defense. He commanded the Cerberus to make a bite on the other leg. The Brute energy was divided between the legs and the arm. And because of this, Flay weakened that part of the body. Flay’s pitiful strength of 12 points, added with 20 points of Brute energy, half of his defenses of 17 points, and 10 points worth of magic, totaled 59 points worth of punch. This attack would be equal to a mid-level apprentice's. It shouldn’t leave damage to the defenses of any average expert. But in that specific scenario, the guard of Zegwood and the natural vulnerability of that area was enough. Had his stat point been three points lower, this attack would not have worked, and if the Expert was in any way more guarded, then his natural Brute could easily defend against it. POW! Flay's fist dug deep into the groin as it
