They had long seen the Midnight Panther when it hunted. That’s how the Tamers knew that this creature could fly or, at the very least, glide.
But Flay knew better. He knew that the power of the Midnight Panther wasn’t freely flying in the air, but it had a strange power and lightness that made it move like the wind. Such a description had already made Flay suspicious, and when Rachel said that, Flay then heard the similar sound of the wind and confirmed his fears.
