What the hell?!"
"Are you blind or what?!"
The cold voice of Mrs Nancy echoed through the hall.
“Ma'am I'm so sorry…”
Taa!
Taa!!.
Taa!!!
“How dare you splash a drink on my dress, you good-for-nothing fool!”
The yelling and the sounds of the slaps could be heard from a distance, causing everyone in the hall to stare in their direction in surprise.
This has been the fifth time Stiles Henderson, the adopted child of the Thomas family has been humiliated since the party began.
“What is going on here? Mrs Lisa Thomas and Mr Thomas interceded.
“What is all this commotion all about ma'am?”
Mrs Lisa asked looking directly at Stiles with a scornful gaze, you could tell by the way she made her face that she wished she was the one who had slapped Stile this time around.
“Your good-for-nothing adopted brat spilt drink on my dress.
Lady Nancy said as she held the helm of her gown, which had just a negligible stain on it.
“Oh… I'm so sorry ma'am hope it didn't ruin it?”
Mr Thomas asked gently, his face telling a different story as he clenched his fist in anger.
“Of course, it did look at it.”
Lady Nancy said angrily as she threatened again to hit Stiles who pulled back immediately to avoid being hit for the sixth time today.
“Once again I'm so sorry”
Stiles blurted out and walked out on them to the kitchen with the tray of wine in his hand.
He sat on the cold and wet floor and tears began to flow from his eyes like a dam out of control, each making a subtle noise on the cold tiled floor.
Suddenly the door opened, it was Mr Thomas and Mrs Lisa Thomas and Stiles immediately jerked up to his feet and tried wiping his tears.
“You bastard!”
“How dare you cause that commotion out there in the hall?”
Mrs Thomas screamed at him angrily as he walked towards him.
“You got guts boy” Mrs Lisa spoke out scornfully.
“Do you even realise who you just disrespected in there?”
Mr Thomas asked as he pulled his hands out of his pocket.
His eyes were ablaze with anger and his veins were bulging out in rage.
Stiles almost peeped his pants as he stared at the angry faces of his adopted parents who do nothing but maltreat him.
“I'm so sorry Mom” his voice laced with sadness and a little bit of remorse.
“It will never hap….”
Before Stiles could complete his apology, he was met with a resounding slap that caused the DJ back in the hall to pause the music as everyone now stared at the kitchen door.
Taa!.
Taa!!.
“Don't you ever in your miserable life call me that, I'm not your mom and I would never be.”
Grabbing him on his trousers, The voice of Mrs Lisa was Vehement.
“The next time you use that word on me, you will regret ever knowing me.”
She said, pushing him to the cold and wet floor.
“Get up and take out the trash, you should know your place here fool.”
Her eyes glinted with venom as she spoke viciously.
She walked out of the kitchen and back into the party hall smiling gleefully as though nothing had happened.
Mr Thomas scornfully gazed at Stiles, His eyeballs almost bulging out with rage.
“What are you looking at, fool, get up and do your job.”
He screamed at Stiles, who was already fidgeting, as beads of sweat built down his face as he held his cheeks.
Stiles rose from the floor picked up the trash bag and headed out to dispose of it into the garbage bucket.
Stepping out the back door, the party was now almost over as the guests were all walking out of Thomas's grand mansion and heading to their cars to head home.
Walking sluggishly and being stressed out from working the party all through the night, suddenly a bucket came over his head.
Mrs Lisa just emptied a bucket of ice-cold water over his head on his way outside, in front of everyone.
“That serves him right… that good-for-nothing bastard.”
The voice of Lady Nancy was vehement as she was escorted to her car by her servant.
Stiles immediately took off the bucket, his face burned red with anger as he glared viciously at Mrs Lisa Thomas.
His fist clenched in vexation as he glared at his foster mom.
“What do you want to do…uh…do you want to hit me?”
Mrs Lisa Thomas said as she walked closer to Stiles Henderson and landed him another hot slap”.
Taa!
“Mom, that is enough!”
Raya Thomas interceded, holding Mrs Lisa's hand from landing another slap on Stiles Henderson.
“Your guests are feeling uncomfortable with your actions, stop mom, that is enough!”
Raya spoke in a commanding yet subtle tone.
“Get your hands off me.”
Mrs Lisa forcely pushed Raya, her daughter aside and turned her attention to Stiles, her eyes glinting with venom as she gazed scornfully at him before walking away from him.
Stiles only stared back at her as he held his red hot cheek with both hands.
“Are you okay?”
Raya asked him in a concerned tone, her eyes filled with worry and a mixture of anger and sympathy.
Stiles looked directly into Raya's eyes, tears welling down his eyes slowly.
“I'm fine, it's nothing.”
Stiles spoke in a shaky voice as he tried to wipe off the tears.
“What do you mean you are okay?”
“You don't look okay to me, you are covered up with ice-cold water and you are telling me you are okay.”
“No, you are not okay.”
Raya spoke in disbelief, her voice reeking with urgency,
“Come on, let's get you cleaned up and changed into new clothes.”
Raya said, her voice which was barely above whispers putting a little bit of a smile on Stile's face.
************************************************
Stiles had just finished taking his bath and Raya was on his bed going through his pictures.
“Awwww…you look so adorable when you are a baby.”
Raya said, her voice mellifluous, Stiles only smirked at her comments.
“Thank you, Raya.”
Stiles forced himself to return the compliments.
He wasn't sure if he could trust the only daughter of the man and woman who had done nothing but maltreat and humiliate him since the day they had adopted him into their home.
Raya turned and gazed upon him, smiling sheepishly.
“I'm done changing, Raya let's get back to the party before Mom gets the both of us here.”
Stiles said as he opened the door immediately for Raya to leave his bedroom which looked more like a rat hole.
“Yes, you are right, let's get going."
Raya replied, her voice was barely above whispers.
Stiles and Raya went back to the party, on their way Stiles remembered that the garbage he took outside hadn't been disposed of.
“Oh shit! Stiles yelled immediately.
“What is wrong?” Raya asked, wondering what might be the problem.
“The garbage hasn't been disposed of."
"I don't want to get humiliated again."
Stile's face was laced with worry and a mixture of anger and frustration.
“Okay let's go get it and dispose of it”, Raya said looking directly at Stiles.
“No…No, you go I will catch up okay, thanks by the way”.
“It's nothing, Stiles, if I were in your shoes you would have done the same for me."
Stiles then moved closer to her and touched her on the cheeks.
"Thanks once again, go on, I will catch up with you."
Stiles said as he ran out immediately.
On his way to dispose of the garbage spoke to himself.
“I really don't understand why Mr Thomas and Mrs Lisa Thomas would adopt me and bring me into their home, I was better off at the orphanage."
“All this wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been abandoned at the orphanage gate by only God knows who."
His gaze fell on a man in a black Louis suit standing next to a twilight fog Lamborghini Aventador.
Without sparing him another glance, Stiles immediately walked past him and was startled when the man called out his full name.
A name he hadn't heard in quite a long time.
“Hello young Master Stiles Henderson”
"I was sent by your father." The man's voice was laced with authority.
Stiles was mesmerised by the quality of fragrance of the perfume that the man wore as he
stared at the man, his face etched with a mixture of confusion and anxiety.
The black bag of waste fell off his hand and made a loud thump on the coal tar floor.
"I don't understand…"
"What are you talking about?"
Stiles stared at him more intensely. The man walked from his car and came closer to him.“Allow me to properly introduce myself.""My name is Jonathan Jacob and I am the personal assistant to the richest man in Oxford Valley, Mr Henderson, who in this case is your biological father.” Jonathan Jacobs spoke in a dominant tone as his gold Rolex watch shimmered in the street light above them. The night was quiet and not a single being was outside.Stiles took a step back and observed him, his eyes reeking all over slowly.“What…""What are you staring at?” Jonathan asked, his voice barely above whispers as he tried to maintain eye contact with Stiles.“Uh…you don't look like an assistant to me.""You look too damn rich to be an assistant, so don't mind my scepticism, and I'm not buying whatever you are selling.""My parents abandoned me at an orphanage many years ago and here you are telling me that my father sent you to me."Stiles said, his voice laced with a mixture of anger, anxiety
"Stiles stared into the dark living room, his eyes immediately fell on Raya.""What are you doing still awake by this time?"Stiles asked as he immediately tried to divert her attention away from him."This isn't about me, I asked you a simple question.""Who was that man and what were both of you discussing all this while?"Raya immediately asked, her voice was barely above whispers as she didn't want to wake her parents.Stiles gazed at her in shock as he wondered how Raya even saw them.'The local waste bin was at least 6 poles from Thomas's plus the night was really dark, so there was literally no way that Raya could have spotted us unless she had a night vision…'"And what did he give you that you put in your pocket?" Raya immediately asked, her voice jolting Stiles out of his head."Raya, the man you saw was a stranger who lost his way and was asking for directions."Stiles immediately replied hoping that Raya would buy his fake story."What, do you think I'm dumb… a stranger t
Waking up the next morning, Stiles immediately realised that he had fallen asleep the moment he opened the message.Staring at his door, trepidation reeked all over him as it dawned on him that he hadn't locked his door last night.Jumping to his feet he immediately bolted the quaky door and slammed his back against the door. His heart thumped faster than usual as he stared at his phone and the documents and pictures on his bed.Walking over to the bed he immediately packed the pictures and kept them back in the box under his wooden bed.Picking up the satellite phone, he read the message."Stiles Henderson, if you are seeing this that would only mean that my assistant Jonathan Jacobs has finally found you and you have refused to come home as I requested.""Nevertheless, stay safe, lie low until we find the culprits behind My wife, your mom's death and bring them to justice…Your dad, Mr Henderson."The message was short but direct to the point.Stiles immediately closed the message as
Stepping out, Jonathan Jacobs was met with the worst possible scene he could imagine.Jonathan Jacobs' gaze fell on the manager of Lex Suites as she commanded her guards to beat up and restrain Stiles. His demeanour immediately changed from anxiety to anger.Clenching his fist, he immediately walked over to the manager and before she could say a word, he immediately hooked her by her shirt and slammed her against the wall."Do you realise what you have done?"Jonathan Jacobs asked his voice was vehement and laced with a mixture of authority and anger. The guards stopped harassing Stiles and stared at Jonathan Jacobs. They all knew him as the boss."Way let me remind you…you all have just lost your jobs as we speak and any further chances of getting employed by any company on this continent."His words came as a shock to the 3 guards, Sophia, the female guard walked closer to Jonathan Jacobs."Boss… I don't und…"A heavy blow from Jonathan Jacobs sent her flying to the gates.Rushing t
Stiles stared at the pictures on the tablet that Jonathan Jacobs just handed him.He couldn't believe what he was seeing."Those pictures were taken 24 years ago, the night you were born and the lady carrying you to that orphanage, do you happen to know her?"Jonathan Jacobs asked, his eyebrows furrowed in curiosity.Stiles was dumbfounded, he was still in shock from the whole thing."How did you get this picture?"Stiles asked with his gaze still fixed on the tablet. His thoughts raced as he remembered the picture under his bed, it was the same picture, but this time around in black and white."Well, like I said, your dad and I have been on this case for quite some time and just this morning he forwarded this file to me.""So I thought it wise to let you see the pictures, maybe you might have seen her before or something."Jonathan Jacobs said as he sipped his plain hot steaming coffee."Sometimes isn't right Jonathan Jacobs, I have this same picture under my bed, only not the same c
Stiles paced around the office, his gaze was all over the place as he paced around, his face was etched with a mixture of bewilderment and anxiety.Jonathan Jacobs was busy running facial recognition on the picture of the lady."Jonathan Jacobs… first of all how did you hack into the top military-grade firewall of the international facial recognition datalog using my palm print?""C'mon tell me something?""First my mom was killed mysteriously and I was taken to an orphanage the night of my birth by a weirdo in the disguise of a nurse.""What is really going on here?"Jonathan Jacobs remained silent as he stared askance at the laptop on his desk."Stiles, you are an asset, the only heir to the most important, powerful and influential man on the continent.""What do you expect?""I was able to access the international facial recognition datalog with your dad's access number, the Fibonacci sequence, 123581321.""Each number is an addition of the last two numbers before it.""Then I need
Stiles was still in shock as he stared at the pictures in his hand wondering how this lady was truly involved in her mom's death. The situation was intense as Jonathan Jacobs pondered on the next possible move."I actually anticipated this coming, but not on this scale and level."Jonathan Jacobs said as paced around, pulling out his phone he immediately placed a call to a secured line. The incessant unanswered ringing of the phone only added more tension to the current situation."Who are you calling?"Stiles asked as he threw the pictures onto the table which made a loud thump."It's Jack the IT guy back at your dad's mansion."Jonathan Jacobs said as he had the phone etched to his ear expecting a response."Wait my dad has an IT guy?" Stiles asked as his eyebrows furrowed in a mixture of curiosity and disbelief."Yes, like I said there is a lot you don't know about your dad.""Do you know that your dad recently bought the Fleeks private airfield some months ago?"Jonathan Jacobs sa
Walking down the door were Mr Thomas and Mrs Lisa Thomas."Where did you go this morning?"The voice of Mrs Lisa was even more detached than her husband's.The sun was up as their shadow cast an intimidating shadow over Stiles who was still on the base of the stairs holding his blood-filled nose.He wasn't afraid anymore, he was rather sorry for the couples as they still didn't realise that just with one call, he would make them and their stupid worth go away.Touching his pocket, Stiles could feel his satellite phone and his premium elite card that had access to billions of dollars. The Thomas's weren't even worth up to 0.1% of the amount of the elite card in his pocket. But all in a bid to not draw attention to himself, Stiles had to maintain his usual low-life appearance and behaviour."You left this house without telling me or my husband where you were going."As Stiles stood up to explain himself and how he had seen Raya on his way out in the morning, to his greatest shock, Mrs L
