Chapter 3

"Stiles stared into the dark living room, his eyes immediately fell on Raya."

"What are you doing still awake by this time?"

Stiles asked as he immediately tried to divert her attention away from him.

"This isn't about me, I asked you a simple question."

"Who was that man and what were both of you discussing all this while?"

Raya immediately asked, her voice was barely above whispers as she didn't want to wake her parents.

Stiles gazed at her in shock as he wondered how Raya even saw them.

'The local waste bin was at least 6 poles from Thomas's plus the night was really dark, so there was literally no way that Raya could have spotted us unless she had a night vision…'

"And what did he give you that you put in your pocket?"

Raya immediately asked, her voice jolting Stiles out of his head.

"Raya, the man you saw was a stranger who lost his way and was asking for directions."

Stiles immediately replied hoping that Raya would buy his fake story.

"What, do you think I'm dumb… a stranger that lost his way and you hugged him and he gave you his handkerchief to damp your tears and you collected it?"

Raya said, perfectly describing all that happened down the road, it was as though she had been spying on them all this while.

Stiles stared askance at Raya, his gaze laced with a mixture of surprise and confusion.

"Raya, tell me the truth…have you been spying on me?"

"And for how long?"

Stiles asked, his voice a bit ortund.

Raya immediately dragged Stiles inside and shut the door.

"Stiles I wasn't spying on you, it's just that I really care about you and I don't want you to get hurt."

Raya said as he tried to hold Stiles by the hand who immediately stepped backwards.

"Raya I know you like me, but you and I know that this thing wouldn't work between us."

"If your parents find out about your likeness for me you only would get me into trouble."

Stiles continued, his voice was barely above whispers.

"Your parents want you to get married to Antonio Henry, the only surviving heir to the great Henry's empire, if they found out about this then it's goodbye for me."

Stiles said as he stared at the luxury high ceiling in the anteroom.

Raya immediately walked closer to touch Stiles but he kept stepping backwards.

"Stiles I like you and I wish one day you would see me that same way."

Raya said as she stared into Stile's eyes.

"Raya, you know I'm somehow your brother now, and you shouldn't be having these feelings for me, it's wrong."

Stiles said, his voice was laced with a mixture of anxiety and unbelief.

"Stiles, you and I know that you aren't related to me in any way, my parents saw you at the orphanage and took you in."

"Plus you and I know that my dad has refused to sign the final paperwork to legalise you as his son."

"So technically you are still not his son and not my brother."

"That still doesn't mean you should have feelings for me."

Stiles immediately interjected.

"Stiles I really like you, I don't like Antonio Henry, he is too pompous and I don't want anything to do with Henry's."

Raya said as she plopped onto the sofa behind her, her gaze still fixed on Stiles who was still confused about everything.

"Raya, forget about me and give me a clear answer on how you were able to see me and that…total stranger who I clearly don't know."

"I have already told you I'm long-sighted, that was…how I was able to spot you guys."

Raya said, her voice quaky and saying the very opposite.

"Raya I appreciate your likeness for me but I have a lot on my mind now and I don't want anyone getting tangled up in it."

Stiles said as he walked away from Raya and headed towards his room.

Opening the shaky door, he immediately fell on his old bed and burst into tears.

He had very few memories of his mom, all he could remember was nothing but flashes of the face of the woman who he called his mom.

Rolling all over his bed, Stiles wept soberly until he ran out of tears.

Standing up immediately, he opened a box under his bed and brought out an old file that was weirdly labelled, N.M.

That was the old file he took from the orphanage to Thomas's.

He had once wanted to throw the file away but changed his mind, the chief matron at the orphanage said that was the only thing that the person that dropped him that night had left at the orphanage gate.

Stiles stared at the file, his tears dripping down on the file slowly.

Throwing the file to the bed he fell on the floor broken.

'Who is this N.M.?'

'What does it mean?'

His thoughts raced as he lay on the old blue carpet in his room.

It was as if his own was a dungeon in the mansion of the Thomas's.

As he lay there, the words of Raya ran through his head.

'Why didn't Mr Thomas finalise my adoption papers?'

'What is really going on?'

His thoughts were on rampage.

Managing to get up, he immediately picked up the file and operated it for the first time.

Opening his eyes, his gaze fell on two photos, one was his mom giving birth to him and the other one came as a shock causing him to shudder backwards in trepidation as the picture fell off his hand.

Picking up the picture immediately with his hands now quaky, Stiles stared at the photo of the nurse who carried him during his birth.

"What a minute?!"

"The woman who took me to the orphanage that night was the nurse who helped my mom during her delivery."

Stiles said, his voice barely above whispers, his eyes widened in shock.

'What is really going on here?'

'Who are you really and what are you hiding?'

Stiles was Immediately jolted out of his head by the ringing of his new satellite phone.

"You have one new urgent message."

The robotic voice broke through.

Stiles immediately rushed over to his phone and ope

ned the message.

To his surprise, the message was from someone he least expected.

He clenched his fist as his eyes widened in disbelief.
