"It’s aura indicates that it is an E Rank, but the dagger's appearance suggests it belongs to a higher grade," Dave remarked, weariness evident in his voice as he reluctantly returned the dagger to Felix.
"Where did you get this dagger? I want to buy it, but don't worry; I promise to give you a fair price," Dave said to Felix, emphasizing the word 'promise' as his gaze remained locked on the dagger, the yearning in his eyes unmistakable.
"Sorry, but I can't sell. There are people after me, and if I share anything about it, it could put you in danger," Felix said, watching as disappointment flickered in Dave's eyes.
"Who did you manage to offend this time, huh, Felix?" Dave asked, a hint of disappointment lingering in his voice.
"Are you familiar with this organization?" Felix stretched out his hand, presenting Dave with the assassin's card.
"This... Shadow," Dave's gaze fixed on the card with such intensity that Felix half-expected a hole to appear in it. It was then that he caught sight of Dave's hand quivering.
“Is everything alright?” Felix inquired; his gaze fixed on the trembling fingers that betrayed a hidden turmoil.
“Are you aware of the person you’ve wronged? Shadow is the biggest underground assassination organization on the continent," Dave said, his voice trembling, and Felix could feel the palpable fear that laced his words.
"Could this be connected to the incident at your shop?" With a grim expression, Dave posed his question to Felix.
"Yes, it is, and don't worry. I wasn't followed, if that's what you're thinking. I will leave tomorrow so you won't be dragged into this," Felix said with a reassuring smile as he took back the card.
"I don't think you grasp the seriousness of this situation. Their leader is an SS rank Esper, wielding the formidable shadow manipulation ability—an SS rank ability. Where did you even acquire the card? It can be used to track you! Damn it, get rid of it now!" Dave exclaimed, his voice hurried, and his face flushed with urgency.
"An SS rank huh?, Esper, intriguing. I will get rid of the card, but first, I must turn this to my advantage—lure them in closer." Felix spoke with a grin, his eyes glinting with playful mischief.
“Are you out of your damn mind? What has gotten into you, suggesting we lure F and E rank Espers to my shop, perhaps even those of higher ranks? You are behaving very strangely Felix,” Dave remarked, his disbelief evident as he observed Felix's peculiar demeanor.
“I am no longer the Felix who used to cower in fear or submit to bullying. I am a changed man; you should expect more changes from me," Felix said, a mysterious smile playing on his lips as he tucked the card into his pocket.
Felix contemplated the situation, aware that the organization would require a minimum of two days to track him down, thanks to the meticulous preparations he had set in motion. In that fleeting window of time, he knew he had to devise a plan.
"You can stay here for today, but you need to leave tomorrow, okay? I’m already putting myself in danger by keeping you here. Your room is the second one on the left; you can find a first aid kit there. Take care of yourself; you look awful," Dave said to a smiling Felix as he turned off the shop light. These were crystals that lit up when brought together.
Felix made his way to his room, the ache from his injuries were still fresh and raw. The remnants of the fight lingered, some wounds having reopened, yet he had managed to bind them before arriving. Once inside, he tended to his injuries with meticulous care, exhaustion quickly overtaking him. While he drifted into slumber, a lesson learned through years of experience echoed in his mind: never sleep with both eyes closed.
As Felix lay in the depths of slumber, a faint sound drifted through the stillness of the night, stirring his keen senses. With a sudden jolt, he sat upright, his eyes glinting with the sharpness of a dagger. Stealthily, he rose from his resting place, drawn toward the source of the mysterious noise, and as he moved, he managed to catch a whisper of the conversation.
"Thank you for coming. Did you bring the cash?" In a hushed tone, Dave posed a question to an unseen figure, leaving Felix in a state of curiosity.
"Yes, but first, reveal to me his whereabouts." A deep voice resonated from within the room, and Felix felt a surge of certainty wash over him—he was the one Dave was referring to. Alongside that certainty came a surge of rage, for he recognized in an instant the identities of those involved.
"That lying, betraying son of a..." Felix began, but his words trailed off as he heard something else that caught his interest.
"He is in the second room on the left. What could he possibly possess that warrants a bounty of 5 D rank beast cores?" Dave inquired of the owner of the voice.
"A bounty of 5 D rank beast cores was announced, but wait—wasn't that equivalent to 5000 E rank beast cores? It doesn't matter; escape is the main priority now. Damn it, I forgot the dagger. I have to go back for it." Felix muttered to himself as a sudden realization struck, a flicker of greed dancing in his mind. But he swiftly put aside that thought, aware that succumbing to such desires could spell his doom. Resolute, he turned and retraced his steps back to the room quietly.
As Felix approached the room, he heard the voice commanding urgency and precision. "Here's the money. Fan out and secure the area. Find the book, and if you find him, kill him immediately. He is considered a dangerous target; he killed an F rank assassin, so treat him as you would an F rank enemy. He isn't getting out of here alive." The weight of the words pressed on him, prompting him to quicken his steps.
He entered the room and found his dagger resting on the table. Just as he reached for the bag containing his belongings, he hesitated, understanding that it would hinder his escape. A moment of contemplation washed over him, torn between the decision to take it or leave it behind.
Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoed, drawing nearer to his room. In a hurried motion, he extracted several cores and tucked them away in his bag, leaving the remaining items scattered across the bed. However, in his haste, his hand inadvertently brushed against a vase perched on the table.
CRASH
With a thunderous crash, the vase tumbled from the table, shattering on the floor; the sound echoed ominously, quickening the footsteps approaching him. Cursing silently, he snatched the bag and frantically surveyed the room, searching for a place to conceal himself.
The door creaked open, revealing an assassin who slipped into the room with the utmost caution. The space was empty, with silence hanging thick in the air. As he moved through the shadows, his gaze fell upon a shattered vase scattered across the floor. The sound of its breaking had echoed moments before, a clear sign that the target was awake. But where could he be hiding?
"This must be what just broke, which means the target is still in the room." The assassin kneeled, his eyes scanning the vase for any hidden clues. Finding nothing, he rose, determination fueling his next move as he prepared to search the room. Suddenly, a cold blade pressed against his neck, sending a shiver down his spine. In that tense moment, a bone-chilling voice pierced the silence, laced with a palpable intent to kill.
"Utter a single sound, and it shall be your last," Felix spoke to the man dryly with the dagger pressed against his neck. The hostage, fully aware of the gravity in Felix's tone, understood that this was no mere bluff; the threat was real. In that tense moment, he resolved to play along, biding his time.
"Alright, just please spare my life. I am willing to comply with any request you have." The assassin feigned fear, but Felix saw right through the act. In his mind, a dark thought brewed: ‘Just wait until you let your guard down; then, you will pay with your life.’
“Good boy,” Felix continued, his voice dripping with menace.
“Answer all my questions, and I might spare you. But try any funny moves, and you won’t even realize how you met your end. Now tell me, how many of you are there, and what are your ranks?” He chuckled inwardly as he posed the question to the man, wondering how he thought Felix could be so oblivious to the thoughts swirling in his mind.
“There are five of us," The assassin answered, his voice steady despite the blade pressing closer to his neck. "We're all F ranks, except for our leader, who's an F+ rank."
In a world where power is everything, a team of four F ranks and one F+ rank, with unknown abilities, stands poised for an uncertain confrontation. With years of deadly combat experience, Felix felt confident he could manage the odds stacked against him. His focus remained on the assassin, who underestimated him and seized the moment, attempting to disarm him. However, Felix, anticipating the move, pressed his palm against the assassin's mouth, silencing him before swiftly slitting his throat, followed by a precise stab to the heart.
The assassin crumpled to the ground; a look of disbelief etched across his face as if he couldn't fathom that Felix had just ended his life. But Felix understood the reason behind the ease of this fight, he
had added one point to strength, and when the assassin entered the room, he seized the element of surprise. And with his newfound power, Felix had claimed victory.

"Now for the next part of the plan" Felix smiled to himself, the system notification echoing in his mind. A bloodbath was on the horizon, and he could feel the thrill of anticipation coursing through him.
"I found him; I need help looking for the book." Felix changed into the assassin's attire and headed to the door, shouting to the closest one.Felix used his skills to imitate the first assassin's voice; he said, "I came in and met him sleeping, and as I approached him, he stirred awake and rushed me at me, so I slit his throat.""Good, where’s the body?" The second assassin asked, so Felix led him to the dead assassin's body."Good job, wait, isn't this One's tatt-- ?" The man instantly recognized the dead assassin's tattoo, but before he could say anything more, Felix stabbed him in the head."Ding”[You have defeated a F rank Esper and obtained 100 XP.]As he levelled up, a cool stream of energy flowed through his body, refreshing him and replenishing his mana."That was quite a close call. I need to be more careful; add the additional stat point to my agility," Felix said to the system, cleaning the blood from the dagger and adeptly concealing the bodies.“Two down, four more to go
Felix immediately left the store and went to an inn, where he reserved the most expensive room, placed an order for food, and picked out supplies to help him recuperate from his wounds.Crime was the main credo of the slums; therefore, if someone showed up to an inn even with a dead body and bloody clothes, they were never there as long as they paid enough money.Felix tended his wounds and consumed the food that had been given to him. "The reinforcements should have arrived by now, but since I didn't leave any tracks, as long as no one sold me out again, it would take some time before they could track me; that gives me enough time to get my things together and get stronger.”"System, how do I become an F+ rank Esper?" Felix inquired the system.[Every 10 levels promote you to the next rank so when you reach level 10, you will be promoted to an F+ rank Esper.][You have 7 more levels to be promoted to the next rank]"That's a long way to go; I will think about it in the morning," Felix
[You have killed an F+ rank Kreed and gained 200xp and 400 system points]"Isn't that a Kreed? How were you able to sense it?" The man croaked in a shocked voice, staring at Felix like he was a monster. Kreeds were one of the medium non-human races on Zenith, but they were known for their stealth. It was almost impossible for someone of the same level to notice a Kreed. Kreeds were sometimes feared because they were lethal assassins, yet right now this man before him had sensed it and killed it instantly. How scarier could he get?"Why is a Kreed here? Aren't they found in the darkness continent?" Felix asked in surprise; even he was shocked by the appearance of a Kreed; he had sensed its presence long ago, but since he had not sensed any bad intentions from it, he had thought it was one of Connor's men, but immediately he sensed the slightest killing intent from it; he had attacked with his full strength; he didn’t even have any idea how shocking what he did was; he had just done it i
‘Who’s he? Which family is he from? How powerful is he?’ As the manager, who had the power to destroy his entire family if he so desired, attended to Felix, the proud man's thoughts continued to race. He was not alone in this thought.‘Oh no. Who have I just offended?’ The store employee, who had treated Felix disrespectfully, realized with terror that she had made a grave mistake."Thank you, sir; is that all?" The manager smiled and asked, but he was secretly taken aback. He too had a storage ring, but it had been acquired through special means, and he was also surprised by Felix's composure when speaking to him; he was used to people treating him with respect and fear, but this man showed no fear. This action sparked his curiosity, and it appeared that his intuition was correct."No, I’d also like to buy a high-level bow in addition to these items," Felix responded coolly and grinned as he accepted all of the neatly wrapped daggers and put them in his storage ring. The manager's kin
"Okay, straight to the point, I see that you're a straightforward person; I would be making a trip to the F rank beast forest to hunt and also gain experience, and I want you to accompany me, "With a broad smile, Connor explained his intention, making Felix scowl and grip his daggers tightly."You want me to go hunting with you after you sent someone to follow me; what do you think I am? A mercenary?" Felix demanded angrily, coming forward to face Conner, but the guard halted him, staring at him carefully after sensing a slight wave of Felix's killing intent."Okay, now that I think of it, my actions might have been a tad bit too suspicious; on that note, I sincerely apologize for my previous actions. I'll try to be a little bit less weird in the future." Connor apologized with his signature smile which only Felix more irritated"Listen to me ‘Young Master Connor’, there is no future, this ends here, you’re going to have to forgive me, as I don't intend to make any friends at the momen
"The target has secured the assistance of the Alexander family, but that shouldn't change anything. Eliminate them all and take down the target at any cost," the leading figure in the purple cloak declared, his tone chilling enough to send shivers down one's spine, they swiftly followed the group.Meanwhile, the targets were already facing monsters that were easily dispatched. Felix understood that he could gain experience from defeating these creatures, but he sought a challenge that would sharpen his battle intent. Thus, he chose to leave these foes for others, who effortlessly eliminated them without even utilizing their abilities. The others observed Felix curiously, particularly Pig Face, who regarded him with a smug expression, believing that Felix was trying to be mysterious. Little did he realize that even when Felix behaved normally, he still exuded an air of mystery; it was simply part of who he was.Connor smiled knowingly, his thoughts drifting to the desire for a worthy op
While he was planning his escape, the ape abruptly turned and looked directly at him with its one eye. The moment he locked eyes with the ape, he lost control of his body. At the same moment, all the monsters charged at him. Felix felt his heart skip a beat; it appeared like he had made a serious mistake.Additionally, his camouflage ability was disabled, making him obviously visible to the creatures on the approach. It was the one-eyed Frost Ape that frightened him. It was adept in soul attacks as it was at physical ones; the ability it just used on him was "Soul Chains," and he was aware that it could kill him instantly, but the cruel monster desired for him to be ripped apart by the raging monsters."System, is there a way out? I can't move my body." Felix questioned the system in a panicked voice.[There is a way, but you can't access it right now.]"So I’m doomed" Felix said in grief, and for the first time since he first entered this realm, he displayed genuine terror, which seem
"Ding"[You have killed a D+ ranked One-Eyed Frost Ape with the bloodline of an Ancient Frost Ape and gained 10,000xp and 5000 system points]With a thud, the One-Eyed Frost Ape hit the ground, and just like that, the cool air that had been lowering the temperature of the surroundings vanished as well."It's dead, it's finally dead.." An E rank Esper said in disbelief, just a moment ago, he felt as though he could see death grinning at him, and it wasn't just him—the others experienced the same sensation. The abrupt change in events, where they were on the verge of death one moment and spared the next, stunned them all."Who shot that arrow?" Shocked, the D+ ranked Esper questioned, Scars covered his body, but he ignored them, moving to join the group of Espers still alive. He looked around for the archer, who had killed the Ape, but he could not spot him."I did." Felix grinned and said, appearing in front of the D+ rank Esper. He then pretended to take out his arrow while he stealthi
“I regret that it concluded in this manner.” Li Bai stepped down from the stage and extended a hand to Han Xiao, offering assistance to help him rise. “Haha!” A wave of laughter greeted him in response, causing Li Bai's hand to freeze and the spectators to momentarily halt their cheers. Why? This occurred because Han Xiao, who typically wore an indifferent expression, laughed—an event that was truly rare. “You’re… you’re laughing.” Li Bai expressed in astonishment, unsure of how to respond. He observed Han Xiao, still chuckling, as he took his hand while Li Bai assisted him in standing up. "It's refreshing to let loose occasionally. You see, I have a unique condition that prevents me from experiencing certain emotions—happiness, sadness, even pain. However, your words triggered something within me; for a brief moment, I felt a glimpse of excitement. For that, I am truly grateful to you, Bai." Han Xiao rose to his feet with a hint of weakness, a smile gracing his lips as he addres
"FIGHT TILL THE END," Li Bai declared with a smile, his eyes shining with resolve."What?" The crowd was taken aback, and even Han Xiao found himself surprised by the shift in Li Bai's expression."You heard me correctly. Growing up, I watched my brother train until he was too exhausted to move. When he sparred with my father, he wouldn't stop until he was knocked unconscious. I often asked him why he pushed himself so hard, why he didn't just give up and surrender. He would tell me that..." Li Bai said, pausing as his eyes grew teary at the memory of his brother."A man who gives up will never reach the peak; it takes just a single step to fail and one step to succeed," Both Li Bai and Chu Yang remarked in their respective positions."He told me that giving up is like walking a journey of a thousand miles and stopping just before the last step. I used to wonder what he meant, and after losing him, I reflected on that moment and realized I let him down the most. However, I picked myse
"Now, we arrive at the final battle of this phase, which will decide who advances to the next stage. I am pleased to introduce the last two participants: Li Bai and Han Xiao." The Elder stepped onto the stage, a smile on his face, igniting the crowd with his eloquent words. "You've got this... brother," Felix said, pausing as he looked at Li Bai, whose eyes widened in excitement. He quickly rushed to hug Felix, but Felix pushed him away immediately. "Just do your best; we are here to support you every step of the journey." Zhang He also said to Li Bai, stopping him just before he could embrace him. "Aren't you going to wish me good luck?" Li Bai cast a sideways glance at Yang Mi, who shot him a fierce look in return. "Just don't die up there," Yang Mi finally said to Li Bai, her gaze softening at the sight of his pleading eyes."Hahaha, I love you too," Li Bai chuckled as he made his way down the stands toward the stage where his opponent, Han Xiao, was already waiting.Felix
Lu Han approached his seat with a mischievous grin, eliciting fearful glances from the onlookers, and he relished every moment of it. As he reached his seat, Han Sen stepped in front of him, raising his hands to block his path, prompting Lu Han to turn his attention toward him.“You didn’t need to take it that far; what prompted you to do that?” Han Sen inquired with a composed demeanor."With all due respect, my battles are my battles; you shouldn't concern yourself with mine," Lu Han replied with a smile. Though his words seemed courteous, they carried an underlying message that clearly conveyed 'Back off.' "I suppose you're right; your battle is your own," Han Sen chuckled at these words, removing his hand and allowing Lu Han to take his seat. "I'm glad you understand," Lu Han smiled, and just as he was about to take a seat, Han Sen raised his hand once more."Just hope you don't run into me in the next round, because then, there will be no one to interrupt," Han Sen remarked wit
'He skillfully disrupted his opponent's balance, leveraging the resulting momentum to lift him off the ground. With precise timing, he harnessed the rebound force to amplify the impact of his punch, inflicting maximum damage.' Felix observed intently as Chu Yang executed his method of attack. While it may have appeared effortless to the casual observer, Felix could not help but recognize the undeniable skill required to execute it so flawlessly. The memory of Chu Yang's final punch, which had shattered the stage with a single strike, served as a testament to the immense power he possessed. Felix sighed, acknowledging that facing off against Chu Yang would be a challenging battle with an uncertain outcome. "Felix, focus. It is time for the next match," Li Bai gently reminded Felix, pulling him back from his thoughts. His gaze shifted towards the stage, where a figure stood opposite Lan Liqing. It was none other than Lu Han, the individual who had been a constant thorn in Felix's
"That was one powerful attack from Han Sen" The outer disciples were once again filled with excitement, as they were once again reminded of the incredible skill and talent possessed by the Top Ten. "Did you guys notice that this was the first attack from Han Sen, throughout the whole battle he was on defense" The disciples eagerly engaged in conversation, discussing another topic that had caught their interest. "Yeah, and Chu Yang was completely devastated by a single attack." "He looked so cool catching that last attack," some of the females said as they engaged in conversation, giggling every now and then as they glanced at a furious Han Sen who had come off the stage and was making his way to the Top Ten seats. Chu Yang observed Han Sen's furious look, which caused the others to back away from him, saying, "Nice move at the end." Han Sen walked past the Top Ten stands, seemingly finished with his spectator duties for the day, with a cold, "Not now, Chu." Chu Yang laugh
"You're up Han" Su Yang said to Han Sen who groaned in annoyance. "Is that the guy I'm going to be fighting against? This sucks, at least you got to fight someone who was slightly strong" Han Sen groaned in disappointment, he stared at his opponent on the stage before he sighed and jumped out of his seat, with his hands in his pockets,he walked to the stage where his opponent was waiting. His opponent, Chu He was a sword cultivator, someone who specialized in the way of the sword, he was also the 12th rank so he was noticeably strong, he was as tall as Han Sen, around 6 feet tall, he wasn't as muscular as him though he was well built, his dark hair had been tied to a ponytail behind him, his eyes were sharp like his sword, he wielded dual swords, one on each side, he stood upright displaying his confidence as a sword practitioner. "It's an honor to fight against you Han Sen, I've heard so much about you" Chu He smiled and gave a martial bow of respect towards Han Sen who smiled.
Back on the stage, giant faced off against giant in an epic moment, the two sides had let loose and released their bloodline power to the peak, ready to end it. ATOMIC FIST Lin Huang made the first move, his figure appeared next to Shan Ren where his right fist turned into a fiery rocket which he swung towards Shan Ren whose arm turned into a shield onto which, Lin Huang's fist slammed into creating a shockwave that slammed into the barrier around the stage which trembled and went back to normal. After blocking the attack, Shan Ren saw his opportunity to attack since his opponent was in this close range, he eyes turned brown causing thick mud to rise up from the ground which wrapped around Lin Huang's feet gluing him to the ground. Seeing his opponent now locked in place, Shan Ren injected his fists with mana before sending over a flurry of punches which slammed onto the blue shield condensed by Lin Huang's left side, punches of high magnitude continuously smashed onto Lin Hua
"He won" Wang Xiong was blown out of his mind. "Su, if you were to rank Da Ji based on his current strength, which rank would you put him?" Chu Yang asked causing his brother to pause and think for some time. "I would rank him 4th, just below Han Sen" Su Yang replied and this caused the others among the top ten to glance at him, to some it might seem like an insult but they themselves knew that it was the truth. "So if Felix was able to defeat him, then that means that he's as strong as an early Emperor and also has so many tricks under his sleeves, he could be stronger than me" Wang Xiong frowned at this realization. "For now, I wouldn't be so sure because it looked like he had a skill that made him immune to Da Ji's mental attacks, that's what earned him his victory, and a major part of Da Ji's strength comes from his bloodline ability of his mental attacks, if that is taken out of the question, we could also easily take him out" Lu Han also gave his analysis, and although t
