Chapter 18

“Where are we going?” Laura saw as Henry took swift turn to the other side of the road. Henry’s fingers flexed on the steering while as he thought of a way to tell Laura what was happening. All trace of cheerfulness on his face was lost.

“We are going home” he simply said.

“Home? I thought we were just going to get coffee” her voice is a bit higher. Was that fear or anger? Henry couldn’t say which one. He glanced at her. “Put on your seat belt” he said. Laura shut him a glare even though she did as he had requested. She was stickler for rules.

“Don’t panic I have to tell you something” he began. Henry was looking for a soft landing. He didn’t want to alarm her that her life could be in danger. Tom what he had gathered from his boys, he had that Laura was as stubborn as a mule. If he had told her that they were going to her father’s house, she would demand that he stop the car.
