Chapter 5: The Exclusive Avenue Bank

William retreated the phone with a sigh and dropped his head defeatedly.

"Can you hear that? He is such an idiot!"

"Trillions? Is this guy mad?"

"Maybe he thinks he can trick someone into falling for that nonsense"

"Or maybe he thinks he is a movie"

Side talks sipped into William's ears and he lifted to him to realize the many eyes digging into his flesh.

What? Did he speak so loud and attract the attention of people?

"I saw him drive that garbage truck here," Another woman said, pointing a finger at William whose face was now red.

"Look at how he is dressed. He is a trash picker. I know him "

" That's right, I knew it, he was familiar. My grandfather usually gives him tips " Someone announced from behind and a few of them giggled.

William knew arguing with these people was unnecessary so he ignored them all and walked straight into the Bank.

The moment he stepped into the building, a smile curved at the corner of his lip.

He raised his head to see the interior that screamed privilege and wealth.

The marble floor did not only reflect his figure but the silver chandelier that dangled above his head.

The Bank attendants discreetly conversed with the richly dressed customers over the desk, their demeanor exuding a sense of professionalism.

There were only a few people inside the bank because Exclusive Avenue Bank wasn't open to all.

One would need at least ten million dollars to open an account with the bank and the same to get an exclusive card.

William walked casually to the free Bank attendant by the left and stood in front of her.

"Hello, how may I be of assistance?"

Her smile was a bright one but behind was a sneer of disdain.

Rose's eyes scanned the shabbily dressed man from head to toe and wondered what he wanted here.

This place wasn't an open bank to insignificant people in society.

William scratched the back of his head as he lost concentration for a moment because of the beautiful woman in front of him.

Her chest was barely covered by the shirt she was wearing and would make a man lose focus at first glance.

"I'm William Miller" He introduced himself and continued to say, "I'm here to check the balance on my card?"

Rose's eyes dimmed and she tightened her fist underneath the desk.

"Did you miss your way here?" This time, she did not hide the disdain in her voice.

William was confused for a second and stammered, "What are you talking about?"

"You think you can walk into any bank and ask to have your balance checked?" She yelled at him and then pointed to the exit, "Leave immediately before I call security on you"

William was taken aback and wondered what was wrong with this attendant.

"Isn't this unprofessional? Can't I ask to see my balance" His tone was rather calm and there was no hint of anger in his eyes.

"Unprofessional?" She scoffed and added, "Only those with an Exclusive Avenue bank account can make such requests. Moreover, there are ATMs around to check your balance"

William rubbed the roof of his nose and said, "I have an account here and I request to see my balance"

Rose once again stared him down and thought, 'This poor man thinks so rich of himself. How dare him come here to cause trouble?"'

Seeing how poorly dressed he was, she couldn't help but sneer in disgust.

"Isn't that the trash picker?" The customers who had seen William outside had entered only to encounter the conversation between him and the attendant.

"Looks like he's bothering our Dear Rose," A young woman said and they purposely got closer to add fuel to the flame.

"You heard the trillions he talked about? I'm sure he is here to withdraw them all" The third woman said and they couldn't contain their laughter anymore.

This drew the attention of the people around and the security guard who usually maintained orderliness in the bank.

The women had no choice but to cover their mouths and retrain themselves.

William was gradually getting pissed but he didn't want to cause a scene.

He slammed his supreme black card on the table and said authoritatively," I demand to see the branch manager right now"

Now he understood, this woman was actually looking down on him.
