“Did you know Ashley is engaged?”

When Landon heard Martin’s words, he was surprised.

“Ashley is engaged?” Landon asked.

“From your sudden reaction, I can tell you didn’t know,” Martin replied as he poured Landon a drink.

“Ashley never told me she was engaged,” Landon replied, still surprised.

“That’s because she never wanted to tell you,” Martin blurted out.

“But why wouldn’t she want to tell me?” Landon asked.

“Are you supposed to be asking me that question? You should know by now that Ashley likes you,” Martin said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

However, Landon did not feel comfortable. He had already known that Ashley was interested in him, but to hear Ashley’s dad say it made him very uncomfortable.
