Lisa had placed all her bet on Landon when she decided to defend him. In short, the probability of her action going right was so low that they were not more than 10% and this 10% was largely betting on whether Landon would be a good person to be merciful towards her. And such good traits are hard to find in people these days.

However, she knew for certain that if she did nothing and remained by Bernard’s side, she would suffer the consequences of Landon’s wrath again with Bernard. She knew best than to make such a mistake again which was what led her to take the risk of defending Landon and she knew doing this would cause her relationship with Bernard to shake.

Seeing that the results of her bet bore good fruits, Lisa could not help herself from becoming emotional as she had tears of joy.
