.

Landon was stunned.

“My father was murdered?” Landon asked.

“Yes.”

“Was my father ever the leader of the family?”

“Yes. Your father was the last leader of the King family before you became the next heir after his sudden death.”

This made Landon to be very curious so he could not help but ask:

“Wait…I thought you said the Crimson figure worked hand in hand with every family leader if that’s the case then my father should have been powerful…he should have had supernatural powers just like me…then how is it that he was murdered?”

This was a part Landon was very curious about. He could feel that he had grown more powerful so how was it his father was suddenly murdered? If his father had such a power and if his family is as powerful as Eve says they are then how did his father lose his life?

Eve understood Landon’s question clearly so she proceeded to answer him immediately:

“Remember I told you the Crimson figure is not the only one of its kind?”

“Yes..” Landon nodded. He remembered Eve saying that there were different colored silhouettes that had appeared in different parts of the world.

“Yes. There are six other colored silhouettes other than the Crimson Figure and these silhouettes had appeared to another set of individuals all over the world on the day of their arrival. These other colored silhouettes had also made deals with other humans just like how the Crimson figure had done with the King family. Those humans have gone on to produce powerful families in the world just like Marcus King. Yes, the King family has always been the most strongest among these other powerful families with colored silhouettes, the case of your father’s death was because we had underestimated them. This was something that taught us a huge lesson that had left the scar of your father’s death in our memories. We do not wish for such a thing to repeat itself again…”

Landon understood Eve’s explanation very well.

His family has enemies. And these enemies also have supernatural abilities just like they do. Landon did not know what to make up for this.

He had just discovered that he was from the most powerful family in the world only to realize he had not just only inherited his family legacy but also his family’s enemies.

‘Just great…’

Landon did not know what to make of it at the moment. He did not know how to feel about it.

However, he still had to know about one more thing…

“Eve…From what you’ve said about my family I can tell my family is really powerful. How is it I have been living as an orphan in poverty all these years when my family had the means to locate me in a flash?”

This is a question that Landon definitely needed an answer to and in a way he felt slight anger in his heart while asking this question. He had spent almost his entire life wondering what had happened to his parents that had led him to become an orphan. He did not know if they were dead or alive. However, one thing was absolutely clear.

Over the years, living as an orphan has been a big disadvantage to him. If his family can locate him so quickly as soon as he encountered the Crimson figure why didn’t they find him when he was young? How had he ended up becoming a poor orphan when he was from such a powerful family?

“Well, you and your siblings became an orphan because that is what is required from every descendant of the King family. The requirement to go through suffering and pain so that you can have a strong desire to be at the top.”

“Wait you mean my family had deliberately let me become an orphan? And I have siblings out there?”

“Yes, young master. It is a requirement that all descendants must go through to keep the family safe and strong in the shadows. This way all the King’s descendants will never turn out into spoiled brats who do not know the worth of the power the King family holds in this world and this way the King family never produces an heir who becomes a weakling. Every child from the King family is meant to live a hard life till they turn 25. The only reason we are having this contact at your age of 23 is because your father is now late. With no one to lead the King family a new heir must carry the new title and that person is you, Landon. You have been chosen by our lord, the crimson figure.”

Landon remained silent for a whole minute without saying anything. He was a bit pissed and at the same time, he was glad. He was pissed that he had to go through various humiliation and suffering because of this his family requirement and the same time he was glad he no longer had to keep being the poor powerless pauper he is.

Besides, there was one truth about families who gave their heirs everything.

It turned their heirs into spoiled and weak brats. Xander and the other rich kids who have looked down on him over and over again are the perfect examples of such heirs. If there’s one thing he’s happy about is that his family's way of doing things did not allow him to turn out into those rich kids that did not know the real value of what they have.

After, hearing Eve’s explanation there was only one question he had to ask.

“So what now?” Landon asked.

Now that he has to step up to become the new leader of the King family he needed guidance because, from the looks of it, his family was not in any way a simple family.

“Now you wait. Now you wait to know your flaw from the Crimson figure.”

“My flaw?” Landon was a bit puzzled.

“Yes, your flaw. It is one thing every past leader of the King family has possessed including Marcus himself. Your father also had a flaw too.”

“What do you mean? What is this flaw of a thing?”

“I’m sure the Crimson figure must have told you that it will grant you all the power to rule the entire world but such power would come at a price. A price that you must pay or you will die.”

{ “You will be the most capable man in the world but it would come at a price..” }

A memory of his conversation with the crimson figure suddenly flashed in his mind.

At this moment, a foreboding feeling suddenly washed all over Landon’s body.

This kind of deal with this Crimson figure sounded too ominous but Landon was prepared to pay the price. He felt confident about it but his curiosity got the best of him.

“Eve…Do you have any idea what this flaw might be?”

Eve nodded. “No. The only way to know your flaw is from the Crimson figure. He should tell you what your flaw is in the next few days but I have to warn you. Your flaw is something that would definitely cause a big change in you.”

“A change in me?”

“Yes. The kind of change the Crimson figure would want.”

“When you mean change does it in any way mean like I’ll lose my soul?” Landon could not help but ask. Everything about the crimson figure was sounding too devilish so he had to ask.

However, Eve's answer left him even more curious.

“I wish it was that simple. For example your father. The price he had to pay for power was that he did not get to see any of his children till he died.”

“Wait you mean…”

“Yes. Your father did not get to see you or any of your siblings till he died. He never knew what you all looked like. That was the price he had to pay for his power. For every leader it’s different but it’s called a flaw for a reason. It is a price you must pay and it would not be a small price on your end.”

Hearing what Eve had said caused Landon to become scared. What would his flaw be? Hearing what his father's flaw was…Landon felt very uncomfortable. His father did not see any of his children till his death. Such a flaw sounded so simple but it was way more complicated.

For a father who loved his children, that kind of price would be the most expensive price to pay.

At this point, Landon was really scared when he tried to think of what his flaw might be. What would be so valuable for him to lose at this moment? Landon tried so hard to think about it but he was not going anywhere.

Eve saw this on Landon’s face so immediately decided to save him from his reveries:

“Don’t try to think about it too much now. You will only know your flaw the next time you see the Crimson figure. Besides if you worry too much about tomorrow today might devour you before it’s over so just relax…”

Eve is right. There’s no point worrying about things he can’t control.

“For now you just have to keep a low profile while we address the enemies that had attacked your father. By the way, have this..”

At this point, Eve stretched out her hand with a black card in it.

Landon noticed her gesture and took the black card.

“Young master I’m sorry you must have to remain low-key for now but please inside that card is 100 billion dollars. It’s only just a very tiny fraction of your wealth. Manage it for now.” Eve said as she bowed.

George pressed the buttons on the console, one after another, his fingers moving in frantic succession until a sharp click echoed through the checkpoint booth. The sound was unmistakable—the current flowing through the massive iron gate had been cut off, and the locks disengaged with a dull thud. For the first time since his ordeal began, freedom was within his grasp. He quickly stepped out of the checkpoint building, his movements brisk yet cautious, as though he feared someone might appear to snatch this slim chance away. Without hesitation, he rushed to the gate, placed his hands firmly against its cold metal, and heaved it open manually. The iron groaned under his effort, but it yielded, and as the gap widened, George slipped through with a surge of relief that coursed through every vein in his body.Stepping outside that cursed facility, George drew in a deep breath of the cool night air. He felt the weight of confinement leave his chest. Yet, his relief was short-lived. Just as

  • The Almighty Landon — Chapter 490

A couple of minutes earlier—right after George Anderson had stormed out of the room where Adam and Dexter were facing each other—he wandered aimlessly through the endless, suffocating hallways of the sprawling plant facility, muttering curses under his breath. He still remembered Adam’s sharp command to leave, as if Adam had any right to order him around.“Why is it so damn hard to leave this place?!” George snapped, his voice echoing against the metallic walls. His frustration wasn’t just about the labyrinth-like building; it was also a boiling resentment toward Adam. The memory of Adam’s command replayed in his head like an irritating itch he couldn’t scratch. Adam’s cold tone, his absolute certainty—George smacked his tongue loudly, his anger swelling.“That bastard!” George hissed. “Ordering me around like we’re equals. Who the fuck does he think he’s talking to?!” His fists clenched tightly, his nails biting into his palms as he fumed. For a brief moment, George entertained the t

  • The Almighty Landon — Chapter 489

He had just come to the bitter realization that what Adam said earlier was true—there was absolutely no way to escape the suffocating grip of the plant if Andrews hoped to keep concealing himself. Every possible strategy he had considered had collapsed into dust the moment Adam’s words sank in.If Andrews truly wanted to break free, then he would have to abandon the mission and escape without the other targets. Yet that option was never on the table for him. The mission was far too important. His responsibility to the others, to their cause, outweighed even his own survival. Adam knew this, and that was exactly why he stood there, calm and steady, while Andrews was trapped in despair. It was only a matter of time before Andrews met his death at Adam’s hands.Adam inhaled deeply, his chest rising as he steadied his breath, then sighed in a tone that carried both weariness and sharp determination. His eyes, glowing faintly with restrained fury, locked on Dexter.“Now,” Adam said, his vo

  • The Almighty Landon — Chapter 488

The way Adam held Dexter up by his neck—his toes barely brushing the dusty floor—made the mage look like a ragdoll dangling helplessly in the air. Dexter’s face was turning an unhealthy shade of red, and his breath came in short, desperate rasps as the pressure on his windpipe increased. His eyes bulged slightly, and beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He tried to squirm free, but Adam’s grip was like iron. The suffocating sensation was unbearable, yet Dexter’s ego refused to allow him to plead for mercy. He would rather choke than beg Adam for release. That same stubborn arrogance that had carried him this far pushed him to gamble on one last desperate move. Since Adam had brought their bodies so close, Dexter thought perhaps he could take advantage of the proximity to land a surprise strike.Summoning every ounce of willpower left in his fading body, Dexter reached into his pocket with his free hand. His fingers fumbled, but at last they found the handle of a small concealed knif

  • The Almighty Landon — Chapter 487

Adam groaned, his tone carrying both annoyance and fatigue. Things had become far more complicated than he had anticipated. What was supposed to be a straightforward takedown was spiraling into something much more difficult.Who would have imagined that Dexter, the arrogant mage, was capable of pulling off something so dangerous—changing the trajectory of his fireballs, turning them into guided projectiles that acted almost like homing missiles? It wasn’t something Adam had expected, and it was impressive in its own twisted way. Then again, Dexter wasn’t just any random mage. He was well-versed in spellcraft, someone with a frighteningly deep pool of knowledge and experience. More importantly, he was a recognized member of Saber Synth, the most powerful and feared magical organization in the entire world. With credentials like that, perhaps nothing Dexter did should ever be considered *too* surprising. And yet, even with that in mind, this new development bordered on the ridiculous.“

  • The Almighty Landon — Chapter 486

Angry and frustrated that his last barrage had failed to strike Adam, Dexter began to unleash fireballs one after the other in rapid succession. His target remained the same—Adam, who kept darting around the room with incredible speed, evading every single attack as though the fireballs were nothing more than playful sparks.Adam’s plan was simple yet highly effective. He wasn’t going to recklessly charge in. Instead, he chose to keep moving, carefully circling and closing in on Dexter while dodging the incoming fireballs. Once he was close enough, he intended to finish the battle swiftly.Dexter, however, wasn’t a fool. He knew exactly what Adam was planning. That was why he continued to fire one scorching purple flame after another, not necessarily to hit Adam directly, but to maintain distance and keep the martial artist from closing the gap.But there was a limit. Dexter was running out of ammunition. He understood the mechanics of his own spell better than anyone else, and he kne
